For Queen B Cheeks, Try Matte Tan Rose NARS Almeria Blush

October 9th, 2014 by Karen 15 Comments

NARS Almeria Blush Swatch
Wearing the new NARS Almeria Blush on my cheeks and, yes, I’m standing in front of a fan, Beyonce-style

“Just to warn you…I look completely insane.” A good thing to broadcast right before you enter a room if you’re wearing NARS Blush in Almeria ($30) but didn’t spend enough time blending.

If, however, you did invest the time in blending — because you’ll need to with this intensely pigmented matte tan rose from the new NARS Holiday 2014 Laced with Edge collection — then you shan’t need to warn the general public, because your cheeks will look so naturally fabulous and flushed that witnesses will just assume that you’re Beyonce, and that you wake up like this. 🙂

I use two brushes to apply Almeria, and neither one is a blush brush. This is because the very first time I used Almeria, I applied it with a blush brush and ended up looking like I had my makeup done by a toddler on a sugar high.

So yeah, now I start by applying a thin layer using a fan brush. Then I blend the living crap out of it with a fluffy powder blush, and I repeat the whole process one or two times, depending on how bold I want to go.

It’s a little tricky, but I think it’s totally worth it, because I like the warmth and color it adds to my cheeks, like I’ve been basking on a Barcelona rooftop all day long with a book and a Mason jar of lemonade.

Looks great with red lipsticks, too. 🙂

PRICE: $30
AVAILABILITY: Available October 15 at NARS boutiques and narscosmetics.com, and coming November 1 to NARS counters in department stores

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. You would not believe how many times I spelled this blush “Almeira,” instead of “Almeria,” while I was doing this post, or how many times I called it Elvira.

Elvira Blush? Really, Karen?

Yep, it’s gonna be one of those days…

I really like this blush and I don’t own anything similar. But I’d probably look insane wearing it, lol.

Speaking of blushes..I want something new for fall. I am thinking berry blush? Any recommendations? I swatched Randezvous from Buxom the other day and I really like it but maybe you can suggest something better?

That color is fabulous! I love seeing uber-pigmented blushes that work on deeper skin tones. Medium and fairer? We can opt for duo fibre or a fan brush 🙂

I find sheerer blushes so much easier! I have a heavy hand and I’d rather build up a product than remove like mad! 😛

What a gorgeous shade! Thank you for the tip. I have a couple of deeply pigmented blushes that I seldom wear because I looked like you described. I will use a fan brush from now on and I’ll be able to wear them again!

“done by a toddler on a sugar high” Hahaha. You crack me up! Seriously though, it’s a gorgeous color on you. I love the Beyonce fan thing, going on.
As much as I love this color, I’m not sure it would work on my super pale skin. I lack the patience for extreme blending.

This is really pretty! I’m usually in a rush getting ready during the weekdays, but I could see myself reaching for this during the weekends when I have more time to play around with makeup.

I like this one a lot. I often use my duo fiber brush to apply heavily pigmented blushes and NARS has some pretty intense ones. Will add this to my list to play with at Sephora.

I like it a lot! I certainly don’t have anything similar to this in my stash yet.

Don’t feel bad. I kept thinking it was America, misspelled. It must be one of those days for me, too. 🙂 The color is super-pretty but I’m sure I’d be looking like a crazy clown with my lack of both blending skills and appropriate brushes. Btw, I love that you’re standing in front of a fan but whenever I hear Beyonce, I think of Jenny Lawson’s metal chicken. Knock, knock. 🙂

That looks great on you! I’d need to swatch it of course since it’s so intense!

    Hi,
This looks lovely! How does this compare to the Seduction blush? Is it similar once applied?
