The New Chanel Rouge Allure Glosses: For Full-Coverage Chanel Firepower When You Need a Little Chanel

October 28th, 2014 by Karen 32 Comments

Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss
Oh hai, flu shot!

If I’m going to have a stranger stick me with a sharp object, you better believe I’ll be wearing a little Chanel, because Chanel makes everything better (even flu shots).

At least that’s what I told myself when I applied the new Rouge Allure Gloss in 15 Sensible (one of 10 shades, $34 each, available now at Chanel counters and online) before I went to get my flu shot today.

Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss wands from the left: 13 Affriolant, 15 Sensible, 17 Supreme, 18 Seduction and 19 Pirate
From the left: 13 Affriolant, 15 Sensible, 17 Supreme, 18 Seduction and 19 Pirate

Every year when I walk into the flu shot clinic and catch that first glimpse of the needle, the panic sets in… I start mumbling and sweating profusely, and my eyes expand to double their normal size.

I had hoped that 15 Sensible would make me look less, I dunno, frightened? Rabid? Ready to rumble? I’d always reckoned that full-coverage lip glosses like the Rouge Allures tended to convey the appearance of serenity and properly aligned chakras.

But that could just be the crazy beauty logic talking. 🙂

Today, as I bared my left shoulder, concentrated on kittens, and waited for the nurse to jam the needle into my arm (“This won’t hurt at all,” she said. “Just a little pinch.”), I set my mouth into a stylishly glossy Chanel smile, even though I really wanted to scream, “THAT SH*T STINGS, MA!”

So, yeah. If you anticipate a huge horse needle plunging into your person, consider wearing one of the new Chanel Rouge Allure Glosses.

It may not fully relieve the searing, white hot pain (Just kidding! It’s not that bad.), but at least you’ll look fly…and your lips will feel great, since the non-sticky formula is also super moisturizing.

“The colour intensity of a lipstick. The lacquered shine of a lipgloss. With one seductive click, the sculpted applicator delivers high-precision, long-wearing coverage. The advanced formula, rich in Vitamin E, Sappan Wood and Green Tea Butter, instantly hydrates and comforts lips.”

And, as an added bonus, you won’t even have to touch up after you get home and inhale all of those Fun Size Snickers (stress eating, yo!), because the Rouge Allures last about four hours, even through snacks. #glasshalffull 🙂

Supreme and Affriolant look fantastic. I can’t wait to try these glosses but I haven’t seen them around yet. My Macy’s doesn’t have a Chanel counter 🙁

These glosses are really pretty. I like the way they glow without being over-the-top shiny. Affriolant is my favorite here!

I kind of have a needle phobia too, although it got better with age. When I was a teen I used to have panic attacks and cry like a river if I needed to have blood drawn. I still hate it but at least I’m not terrorized for a week before the appointment!

I want these just based on the clicky-top packaging, I don’t even care what they look like! I’ve seen a lot of nice reviews of these though and I really want to try them!

PS your face is looking FRESH as hell, what are you doing?? lovely glow.

      Hi Casey,

It’s because of the new Chanel highlighter — the one from the holiday collection. I layered it underneath my fave Chanel blush, Malice, in these pics. That way the shimmer peeks through the blush! 🙂

Whoaaa sorry to hear about the flu shot! Told you these are awesome though! I have Affriolant, Supreme, and Seduction. Love Pirate on you so much as well! I kinda went off the whole red lipstick thing (I KNOW, RIGHT?). Seeing Pirate makes me want to get back on board again!

I am so wearing chanel for my next shot – in a series of 3 – next week. I am considering to go get my nails done as well – as a bribe since last time was horrible! Blood batch, 4 week bruising and I am still a bit tender in the spot where the needle wenr in, and it has been 2 months.. I do so NOT look forward to this

Meeee tooooooo T_T Do want. <3

The last time I had a shot, it was a speical B12 one, and the nurse actually said 'I hear this one hurts a lot!'. Needles and shots don't bother me, but I was still like WTF? Who says that? 😛

      Should've worn Chanel…

OMG, who says that?! She was probably having an off day. The worse shot I ever had was one after a bad allergic reaction where my whole face puffed up. The needle was HUGE. It looked like something used on horses. And the doc shot me up in the hip. I wanted to look away but I couldn’t. As you can see the trauma is still very fresh (not that it happened, oh, 17 years ago).

LOL, she was quite perky about it actually, which only made it weirder! 😛

Poor you! I know kind of how you feel though – I got stung by a bee when I was *one and a half* and I remember it because half of me swelled up and turned blue!! Some memories, man!

I really like how Sensible and Pirate look like on you. I have swatched them all at the counter the other day, and still am trying to decide which shade to get.

Thanks, Christina! I’ve been using a different brush to apply foundation and I think it’s been making a difference. I’m also wearing a new Chanel highlighter (the one from the holiday collection), which is AMAZEBALLS!

Maybe Sensible wasn’t the right choice and Pirate would have had you all “ARRR-Pirates feel no pain”?
4 hours with snacks is quite impressive for a non-sticky gloss imo.

      Hi LindaLibraLoca,

Haha, I actually love that shade because of the whole pirate thing. When I get around to dressing up as a pirate for Halloween (one day), I’m going to have to remember to wear it.

Will Little Bean be wearing a costume this year?

No, she won’t. Unless having your face covered in carrots counts as costume, but she wears that like everyday.

      Hi Tatiana,

You’re welcome. Treat yourself to a little Chanel before or after your shot! 🙂

My arm is ok today. A little sore but fine!

Hope you had a nice day… is it Friday yet? LOL

You look gorgeous in all the colors! Been seeing these a lot – need to check them out! Wondering when I should get the flu shot this year – a nurse told me to wait as long as possible in the season as they only “last” for so long…

      Hi ReneeP,

Thank you! I’m wearing the Petrouchka Palette for Eyes and Cheeks by Guerlain. It’s from the new holiday collection. I buffed the shimmery beige shade all over my lids, then patted and blended a mix of the copper and gold from the lash line just barely in the crease. I did black liner to tightline the upper lash line, and then I applied a shimmery gold liner (Chanel’s new Or Blanc) on the lower lash line to open up the eye. Then mascara, of course. 🙂

Happy Friday to you, and let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hi,
First time visitor! I’ve just recently started wearing make up – in my forties. Better late than never right! I was visiting the US and bought some MAC & Chanel as it’s much cheaper there. You mention you are using a new brush to apply foundation. Can you let me know which one? I wished I’d read your blog 3 weeks ago – on second thought that would have been dangerous
