7 Ways to Win a $50 eGift Card From Sephora! (Ends Monday)

 Win a $50 Sephora e-gift card
Win a $50 Sephora e-gift card

Greetings and good morning! Happy caturday/post-Haloween! 🙂

So, I learned two valuable lessons last night…

First, I learned that tiaras should be worn much more often than once a year, and second, I learned that Jakey-poo can look like a total psycho, and I know this because I saw Nightcrawler last night, which I liked, but yeah, it’s intense and disturbing. Jake plays a lowlife Los Angeles petty criminal (with more than a few screws loose) who realizes that he has a penchant for driving muscle cars and filming violent news.

Seemed appropriate for Halloween…

When we got home, I needed to soothe my soul, so some Gilmore Girls.

In other news, no trick-or-treaters for me. 🙁 They may have stopped by while we were at the movie, but on the bright side, now I have a tub filled with candy.

I hope you did something fun last night. Did you stay in or go out?

So no trick or treaters here either. It was raining and really cold outside so me and hubby went to dinner but I doubt anyone stopped in the meantime so I also have a giant Costco bag filled with candy…

What are your weekend plans? I am working right now but later tonight it’s bachelorette party time!!

This Halloween, I was off of work & went along with my boyfriend’s idea of going ice skating in costume. I dressed up as Bailey, the King’s mascot which happens to be a lion & was SO fun to do the makeup and hair for, while he dressed up as an LA King’s hockey player. I had a blast & would do it all over again!

Hope you had a fun Halloween, Karen! I was kind of disappointed by the serious lack of trick or treaters this year. Four. ONLY FOUR! 😐 On the bright side, we got to eat all the leftover Snickers bars ourselves, mwahahaha 🙂 And we did it while watching Tucker & Dale vs Evil.

Oh man. The SO and I put glowy eyes and the fog machine in the bushes, got out the cat lasers, and proceeded to find out that kids and cats both chase laser dots.

We had a lot fewer trick-or-treaters than normal (our neighborhood is great for that stuff), so at the end of the night I was standing in the driveway shouting about how I wasn’t taking this candy back inside, so anyone left should come get it.

Then I got to put together a 3 ft velociraptor.

Mac ProLongwear Concealer was all you too! Those are holy grail products for a flawless face. Now everyone at work asks me to do their makeup, and people on the street stare at me and ask me if I’m wearing makeup. Thank you guru!

I haven’t made a huge effort with my Halloween costumes the past few years or done an easily recognizable one for a while either. This year…I did the Crow. 🙂 It was so much fun and really intriguing too. When I did the eyes, it just looked like a somewhat intense smokey eye, when I did the black lips, it just looked like stereotypical Goth. When I added in the lines through the eyes and at the corners of the mouth…that’s when the resemblance came through…and things got spooky. The makeup for that character is so clever because it’s such a little detail but it makes up so much of the eeriness about him. Anyway, hope everyone had fun this Halloween whatever you got up to and whatever getup you were in. 🙂

    Dear Karen

This is going to be my first post on your blog.
I absolutely love love love your feed that comes to my mail.
I love looking at your pictures. But there is something that I know for sure 🙂 Even if I apply all that makeup,I still would not look half as good as you do.
Well I am based in south of France right now due to hubby’s project and I am trying to grasp the language as much and as fast as I can. Language can be a big barrier in this part of the world. So whenever I need to go to shopping (read beauty shopping), I am struck as my french as of now is very limited. So, I know who to consult first. Its your blog and your reviews 🙂 I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the great work that you do.You have been my secret shopping pal all this while.

As for halloween, its still not celebrated in a big way here.
So nothing much for me but we did do pumpkin carving with my 5 yr old and dress him up as a spiderman. He loves being a spiderman 🙂

Big hugs coming your way from France 🙂

Yes, originally, I know, but I had the dress, a cheap handband was only $10, and you know I can’t pass up the opportunity to do a faux bob, wear Mary-Janes, and do a glamorous smoky eye and vampy red lip. Basically, lots of fun was had. Possibly better than was had AT the college parties I went to, which were… classic college parties. That is, a hot mess.

I thought I had missed out on giving out candy! I was so disappointed when I got home and it was super rainy so I didn’t think people would show up until the first kid came and rang the doorbell! I was super excited haha later on I had quite a number of kids come to trick or treat! It was awesome and hilarious to interact with the kids.

I got my face done at a salon and the makeup artist put it on me and I felt faaaaancy. I have a few pairs at home that I play around with every once in a while when I have nowhere to go to on weekends. But I have never successfully applied them on my own and rocked them outside the house. Still practicing!

I love your blog, Karen! I check it regularly to get the scoop on new beauty releases – I spend waaaay more than I should on beauty items! I just love trying new things and being experimental with makeup. I know sign language (my best friend is an ASL certified translator – at 21 years old!), and she actually taught me how to sign Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” over a year ago – it was hilarious learning how to sign it! Anyways, it’s a great skill to learn with little ones – I have a two year old and I started signing with him when he was a little less than a year old so he could communicate with me before he could talk, and he hardly ever cried because he could clearly communicate his needs at such a young age. my husband was super supportive and learned how to sign too, which is awesome!

It has taken me a ridiculously amount of time to have figured out how to comment on your post! It just feels so good to be able to type about w/e I want! Although, I did have to scroll up to your suggestions b/c I all of the sudden felt put on the spot and had nothing to say. Which is weird. Anyways, I wore false lashes recently b/c I found a pair of the Natual Looking ELF lashes at a GAS STATION (it also had one of the 2 ELF brushes I like there, the blush brush, which I think would be awful for blush, but is great for setting undereye concealer with powder or great to have in your purse w/a good translucent for under your eyes or anywhere, so I have 1 at my vanity, 1 in my purse and 1 in my kit!), but anyways, these $1 ELF lashes are really nice! I put them on late at night when I got home, just to see if I liked them, and girl, they were the type of lashes that are just perfect! Try them in an unsung ELF Heroes along w/the Blush Brush and the Eyeshadow “C” Brush, which is all I use on my own browbone highlight. I don’t keep that one in my kit, b/c 1 ELF brush is pushing it before they think I’m a cheapskate MUA. 🙂 I am so glad I can now comment on your posts, Karen! I love your blog and I really don’t get into blogs, well, except yours. <3

We were not home for Halloween and never get any trick or treaters so we bring bags of candy to our friend’s house (her street draws kids from the neighboring towns so it’s a mob scene).

Nightcrawler is getting good reviews. It’ll probably be a netflixer for me, though. 🙂

What did you do for Halloween? – I went to a few parties, most notably one in the middle of nowhere where there was a strobe light and a guy trying to teach me martial theory with a bunch of foam-and-duct tape weapons and armor. I politely declined the lesson and then went to drink some Fireball.
Last time you wore false lashes? – Halloween night!

Friday nights I’m usually worn out from work and was never good at costumes, so the family got together at my parents house for a pizza night and handing out candy. So many cute trick-or-treaters! We also put on Hocus Pocus and might have gotten into the stash a bit. 🙂

Went to anime convention with my daughter on Halloween. On Saturday while at the con we went to a pastry shop and bought macarons! Lemon-so yummy! Her friend had Nutella and strawberry flavors.

I tried false lashes once; it was for Halloween actually! It took me forever to get them on and it looked terrible! They had to pull them off in the middle of the evening because the edges kept lifting. I’ve never tried them since. haha
