Bobbi Brown’s New $45 High Light Powders in Pink Glow and Bronze Glow Work Like a Portable Fireplace in Powder Form

What’s that? A new highlighter? Yeah…sometimes when it comes to highlighters, I feel like I’ve seen and worn ’em all, from your subtle sheens to your full-blown glitter-fests, so when a new one comes along (you must whip it!) that successfully combines some of my favorite things about highlighters, I sit up, tie my hair into a high pony and get down to business.

Bobbi Brown High Light Powder in Pink Glow and Bronze Glow

Ms. Bobbi Brown, friend to women who like to wear makeup while still looking like themselves, recently revealed two of the snazziest highlighters I’ve seen in a while, her High Light Powders in Pink Glow and Bronze Glow ($45 each), which combine some of my favorite things about MAC’s Mineralize Skin Finishes and Chanel’s Highlighting Powders.

Almost creamy, like a MAC Mineralize Skin Finish powder (which makes them a breeze to blend), Bobbi’s High Light Powders do not, however, have the same glazed high-shine finish. Instead, they exude an ethereal, dreamy luster with a finespun finish that totally reminds me of Chanel.

Bobbi wanted to recreate the look of skin illuminated by a cozy fire (ahh…), with the same warm, buttery colors, and that’s what I see when I wear these highlighters.

I use a tapered eyeshadow brush to apply these because when I use a different brush, I end up with a little too much product (and a finish that looks more oily than gorgeous glow). With the brush, I buff one of them on my upper cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, in the inner corners of my eyes and on my Cupid’s bow.

I like both shades, but Pink Glow is my favorite one. It leaves a warm, peachy, pinkish glow that looks like baby angels have left silvery kisses on your cheekbones.

Pink Glow is giving me so much life right now. It’s nice to see that it doesn’t look ashy on warmer skin! Might have to give that one a shot…

The BB Shimmer Bricks in Beige were my first ever high-end beauty purchase and still have a special place in my heart. Ms Brown knows her highlighter business!

I need to check these out. I’m still looking for the highlighter that will give me that lit from within, healthy skin glow without looking like a sparkly disco ball. Then again, perhaps it’s my heavy handed application technique. I’ve been using my least dense, fluffy blush brush. Off to search for a tapered eye shadow brush to try.

As much as I love the look of these in the pan and on your skin, I know they probably wouldn’t work for me. Too shimmery, too unforgiving.

Gah. These are SO pretty in the pan — I’m not a fan of super-shimmery or metallic highlighters, but ! that print.

What do you think about Cindy-Lou Manizer and this pink glow?

Wow, I already heard so many good things about these two babies but now that I’ve seen how gorgeous they look on you … gimme some o’ that! I love the color and shimmer of MAC’s Soft & Gentle but I don’t like the rather chunky glitter it has so this may be a great alternative because it does look pretty similar to that one
