7 Ways to Win a $50 eGift Card From Sephora! (Ends Monday)

November 22nd, 2014 by Karen 269 Comments

Win a $50 Sephora e-gift card from Makeup and Beauty Blog

Good morning, buddy! So, Mockingjay last night. El Hub and I went, and while some of the reviews out there haven’t been kind, I liked it…which I know is probably a HUGE surprise.

But seriously, some of the reviews are calling it the worst of the three movies, boring, just a real stinker, but I didn’t think so at all.

It definitely has a different feel than the other two films, yeah, but so did the third book. The filmmakers split the last book in half to squeeze out another movie, but that’s sort of par for the course these days with successful franchises.

It’s darker than the first two films, literally. Not as many long sequences outdoors in thick forests and jungles, but that’s because this one is a wartime story, and it looks the part. I can’t say that I enjoyed the movie quite as much as the other two, but I did like it, and I think it holds its own in the greater Hunger Games film canon.

I mean, you know…if you’re a fan of the Hunger Games, it’s not like you’re not gonna see this movie. 🙂

In other news, it’s giveaway time!

Hi Karen, I am glad you enjoyed the movie although Hunger Games do not interest me at all, lol.

I think it’d be cool to have a brother! But I only have a sister.

I am slowly expanding my Christmas list, I actually made a Pintrest board http://www.pinterest.com/herandmakeup/christmas-wishlist/ You can check it out.

Happy Saturday! What are you doing today?

      Hi Agata,

A Pinterest board Christmas list — that’s a great idea. You have some really good products on there too. I love that Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette.

It’s raining here today, so we’re probably going to focus on chores and housework, bluh. I need to vacuum and do necessary evils like that…

I hope you have something fun on your agenda today.

Husband said Mockingjay was getting horrible reviews, but we have to see it. We read all the books and saw the other two. Today is the perfect day for a matinee.

I think I want a Clarasonic or a nice coat for Christmas. My bday is the 23rd so I get separate presents for bday and Christmas. I asked hubby to take me to the MAC store in SF for my birthday. He said he would and I could spend $100 there! We’re also going to lunch in SF, there are a few restaurants that were on the Food Network The Best Thing I Ever Ate that we want to check out. Tyler Florence said the best seafood Cobb he ever ate is at Neiman Marcus and I’ve been wanting to try it.

I am AMAZING at fixing things around the house. (And I have no problem bragging about it.) A natural handy-woman. This spring I replaced our kitchen sink and re-fit the plumbing, then repaired our irrigation system and installed a pump. I also measured, fit, and installed a hard floor in our master walk-in closet this summer. The more work I do around the house myself, the less we are paying for a handyman. Girl power! And more monies for all the lipsticks! 😉

That’s so awesome, Alison! I WISH I were better at handy stuff. Truth be told, neither El Hub nor I are very handy around the house. El Hub tries, bless his heart, but it doesn’t always turn out according to plan.

We’re waiting until this coming weekend so that we can see it with the DD (Dear Daughter) while visiting her for T-Day. I didn’t think I could make it until she came home in December after finals.
Made an Afghan influenced lamb and pumpkin stew for dinner last night. Looks like the DH and I will be eating leftovers for the next few days.

Although we’re siblings by adoption, he’s like a blood brother to me. Even though we’re in our 30’s sometimes we act like we’re still kids. We fight a lot, but at the same time get along great! We do like to do fun things together. Especially eating at new restaurants! We’re big food people!lol Even though he can get on my nerves, I love him and can’t imagine my life without him!

My brother will have just graduated from university, it’s my nephew’s first, my mom brother and I already have a Sunday picked to decorate the house and I’ve already made a big dent into my Christmas shopping. This Christmas is also a big deal for me because I’ll have lost around 60 pounds since the last Christmas! For Christmas, I just want the whole family to be together, no food drama, no relationship drama, just carefree and happy people all around!

    Hey Karen,
I have yet to see Mockingjay , but I am looking forward to it because I’m a Hunger Games fan for sure. From the previews I watched of the movie I liked the setting , because it was a totally different feel for the movie. It was nice to be taken out of the wooded areas and into different surroundings – I look forward to watching the movie.

For Christmas my list is pretty lengthy and most are makeup purchases: Ambient highlighter, LORAC Pro Palette, a few of the Sephora lip stains (especially 01) and a couple of other things. Also, I’d like a rose gold Coach boyfriend watch and a Coach purse.

Do you ever hang out with your neighbors?
    — No ma’am I do not.

What would you like for Christmas?
    — A new job. I’ve got an interview this coming Tuesday!

Are you good at fixing things around the house?
    — Depends on what needs fixing.

    Cowboys or rockstars?
    — Cowboys who don’t mind a little rock’n’roll!

Do you have any brothers? What are they like?
    — I have one little brother, and he is my life. He’s 16, almost 17, and he is a complete character. We are 8 years apart, but I still call him when I need someone to cheer me up.

What did you have for dinner last night?

He plays college football, and greatly resembles a large boulder nowadays. But now that we aren’t caged under the same roof I actually love him a lot and think he’s a pretty funny, cool guy. I love hanging out with him now, but one night in the same house and the mutual animosity is back on, full intensity 😛

    Hi, Karen!

I have 2 answers! I have 2 brothers, one is older and the other is younger (yup, I’m in the middle and the only girl). We have always been very close and since my Dad passed, we have gotten even closer. My older brother is in the Airforce, deployed and away right now and my younger brother packed up his things and moved to California to pursue an acting career. We’re from Maryland. I miss them dearly! We have beaucoup inside jokes and silly ways that we’ve carried into our adulthood. What I want for Christmas is for them to be able to come home. I know my Mom misses them too. We rarely all get to be together. The last time was for my wedding earlier this year, but sometimes we can go 2-3 years without all being together. That’s what I want for Christmas most. Well…that, a new wine cabinet, a puppy and of course, MAKE UP lol! Sorry for being long winded. I hope your holidays are wonderful and filled with family and lots of love 🙂

    • Are you good at fixing things around the house? Nope!
    • Cowboys or rockstars? Rockstars, definitely. Not that I think they’d be loyal… but cowboys….I wouldn’t know what to talk about.

What do I want for Christmas? Well, it would be great to win a ton of money. Ha ha! 🙂 but it would be super nice if two people close to me who are sick could get well. That would be awesome. what’s something that can be bought? Hmmm… I love paper and pens and makeup and good books. Have a great day!

I had an espresso frapuccino for dinner last night. please, don’t judge. I’ve had a virus for three weeks and haven’t been able to eat much.

I barely know my neighbors. One insists on throwing an open house every Christmas Eve, which is an odd mix of his blended family and neighbors. I know it’s nice of him but its always awkward because none of us having anything in common except the neighborhood. I never want to go but my husband, who is Mr. Social, always insists we at least go have a drink. Sigh.

I have one brother, three years younger than me. He is one of the funniest people I know. One year I bought him the Edward Gorey Gashlycrumb tinies alphabet book for Christmas. We spent most of that day going through the book pointing out goofy things, and laughing like maniacs. It’s one of my favorite Christmas memories!

I have two younger brothers who have been bigger than me since middle school. It’s always been a interesting dynamic, the one who is two years younger has acted like an older brother in many ways (like scaring away guys in high school!). And growing up with two siblings meant we were constantly changing alliances. 🙂
