Instead of Pulling a Rabbit Out of a Hat, The Magic Act Eye and Cheek Palette by bareMinerals Creates Compliments Out of Thin Air

November 24th, 2014 by Karen 16 Comments

bareMinerals The Magic Act (2)

Huzzah! Good news, friend! As it turns out, you will not have to promise your first born child, sell your soul or slice your arm open and drip blood into a boiling cauldron in order to experience The Magic Act ($39), the new holiday neutral eye and cheek palette by bareMinerals.

Seriously, thank goodness, because the last thing I want to do on a Monday afternoon is barter with a warlock. Generally, I’m much better equipped for things related to the dark arts later in the week…like around Wednesday or Thursday, after I’ve warmed up. 🙂

bareMinerals The Magic Act (1)

The Magic Act comes with six powder eyeshadows (three mattes and three shimmers), three blushes (two satins and a shimmer) and a highlighter, all in neutral shades, and with pigment levels that range from sheer to medium.

It’s weird, but whenever I wear this palette, I usually wear it with a bright lip and sometimes a bold liner, and when I do, someone will invariably ask about my lids or cheeks…even though those are the parts of my look that aren’t bold or flashy.

The palette’s neutral browns, beiges, taupes, pinks and peaches are mysteriously attention-getting…

bareMinerals The Magic Act (3)

In pop star vernacular, The Magic Act is not Beyonce. It’s more like Kelly or Michelle, in that, yeah, you know they’re there, but it’s really all about Miss Thang in the front.

The Magic Act excels as a backdrop/backup singer for bright lips and bold liners, or as an everyday neutral palette with colors that look natural.

Highlighter in The Premiere; blushes in The Close Call, The Natural High and The Indecent Proposal
From the left: eyeshadows in Celebrate, Fortune, Shazam, A-Ha, Pumped and Foreshadow

You can find it now, for a limited time, at bareMinerals counters, Sephora and online for $39.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Do you have a book? Because I think you need to publish a book about all the scenarios you come up with regarding your makeup posts. You are HILARIOUS! Seriously though, I always know I’m going to get some great information and a nice laugh when I read your blog. Thank you for that ^_^

Just purchased this as my 2014 Holiday palette of choice 😉 .. I love it .. it’s nothing unique, but for someone who loves neutrals .. it’s a lovely palette.

I always overlook Bare Minerals, even though they have some great eyeshadow formulas!

I bought my first Bare Minerals eye shadow this year, but it was the new cream shadow. Why don’t I think about BM for shadow and blush? That is such a pretty, girlie palette.Because I’m so pink, I don’t wear pink shadow very often, but if I did, I would want this palette!

It looks pretty but I’m confused by the names. I guess I’m just not up on magic tricks? Then again “Sawing the Lady in Half” isn’t a catchy name for an eye shadow. 🙂

And Happy Friday (for me)! How are the Thanksgiving plans going? I’m going to start tomorrow. HAHA!

I love your reviews. They’re really entertaining and fun to read. Spices up something that can normally be monotonous 🙂

Yep, your writing style! Like, you could write about the science behind the polar vortex, or why the sun shines brightest at noon, or even why there’s no sound in the forest if a tree falls and there’s no one there to hear it. And I’d READ it!
