Dear Benetint, I Don’t Think You’re Ready for This Less Expensive Jelly: Topshop’s $14 Cheek Jelly in Reign

Topshop’s $14 Cheek Jelly in Reign looks like a budget-friendlier ($14 vs. $30) Benefit Benetint doppelgänger on my cheeks — same sheer, rosy red color, but I think it’s way easier to use.

The gel formula, which feels wet and slick like a MAC Casual Colour, isn’t as runny as Benetint’s liquid formula, making it easier to blend on cheeks.

I usually use my fingers or a skunk brush to stipple it on my cheeks, where it looks quite natural, especially on bare skin, but you can also build it up for a bolder flush of color.

I have combination dry/oily cheeks (read: generally fussy and unpredictable), and it lasts from 4-6 hours for me.

Cheek Jelly in Reign, one of five $14 Cheek Jelly shades (there’s also a coral called Phenomenon a plum called Sibling, a burgundy called Museum and another red called Beep), is available now online and at Topshop stores.

Leaf me be!

Japanese Maple Leaves

Tabs was fed up with the sub-par accommodations here at Chez MBB, so he evicted me and El Hub for the duration of the weekend. 🙁

Not having anyplace to stay (insert sad violin here), we packed up the Mazda and headed to Redding to visit my in-laws who, incidentally, used to live in Hawaii, but moved here to the mainland to be closer to family.

I sure do miss those frequent trips to Oahu we’d take to visit them, but one thing Hawaii doesn’t have is autumn leaves…

And I never get tired of ’em.

That MOTD is gorgeous on you, Karen! Lovin’ the cheek tint and your lip colour especially! Which lippy are you wearing? 🙂

Looks soft and lovely on your cheeks. It’s not .. sticky? Does it dry down .. so no strands of hair will be stuck to you cheeks?

I’ve been waiting for someone to review Topshop Cheek Jelly! I am not a Benefit wearer, but have tried the Coconut Water Cheek Gelee from Josie Maran. Any thoughts on how they compare? The Topshop version looks lovely so I’ll have to keep in mind as I am opting for more cream-type formulas lately. I hope to see Topshop expand in the U.S. as the brand has a lot to offer.

Your Destiny’s Child tie-in makes me so happy! Top Shop still remains one of those unicorn places filled with cute and affordable awesomeness, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. Are they west coast only right now? I feel like I hear a lot about them from UK bloggers.

Oh! And those leaves are lovely, indeed 🙂

Is this anything like Josie Maran’s Cheek Gelées, Karen? (I am DYING for one of those, but just can’t justify the price for something I know I’ll only use two or three times before forgetting about!) :/

I love autumn leaves too. They stayed quite a while this year, because it was warmer than usual during October, but now are all gone.
I guess I have to hope for snow to change up the scenery.

Great photos, Karen! I love autumn foliage, too. The combination of yellow, orange, red and some green is really appealing to the eyes. 🙂

Ooooh now that’s a bargain! I also have oily skin and but when I apply my cheek products on my cheekbones and not too much towards the middle of my face it’s usually okay for me to use cream or jelly products. Lovely leafy snaps by the way 🙂

I expected these to be much more expensive since they are Topshop. Sounds like Benefit has some competition! 🙂 How nice that you got your fall leaf fix in. Our peak is always around the beginning of October and it’s always beautiful. Was there something special about Redding that made El Hub’s parents want to settle there? I realize it’s much closer to you than Hawaii but it’s still a bit of a drive. I can’t remember if you said if El Hub had any siblings.

GORGEOUS lip color! Thanks for the review. 🙂

Can’t help but notice though… that brow filler is distractingly dissimilar from your natural brow color. Wayyy too brown. >.< I don't mean to offend. Sorry!

Thanks for the feed back, Eleine. No offense taken at all! I am always looking to improve.

      Happy holidays!
