It Keeps Getting Shorter…

December 8th, 2014 by Karen 36 Comments

my new hair

As in my hurr!

It keeps getting shorter…and darker!

My latest hair adventure was inspired by this shoulder-length ‘do on Megan Fox.

My friend Alis at Fox + Stone salon in Corte Madera took off about three inches from the bottom and added more layers around the front of my face.

She also did a darker base with warmer highlights.

I’m still trying to figure out how to do the super loose and choppy waves Megan’s wearing in this pic…but I’m working on it. When I tried today I ended up with bouncy curls instead of loose and choppy waves.

Getting closer though…

I’m experiencing some major hair envy!

I hear the key to soft waves like that is to use a straightener. I still can’t figure it out though. I suck at all things to do with hair, haha.

I get my messy/loose waves using a flatiron instead of a curler, but this may not be the same on you, as my hair refuses to hold a real curl for more than 30 minutes anyway.

The cut and the color really suit you! I need to get my hair done asap…

Perfection. I love the bouncy waves on you. I really want to splurge on a curling wand so I can get that effortless wave sort of thing, then again I’m frightened I’ll burn off my fingerprints.

SaWEET. LOVE the new do!!! Maybe try using a flatiron instead of a curling iron for more of the look Megan has? (I think someone already mentioned this, but just in case.) Or maybe you could try spraying on a salt spray AFTER you take a curling iron to it, to tone it down but keep the texture… lol I have no idea if that would work, but that’s what came to mind!

I think in his recent post his on to something similar, besides the fringe. I like your look better though!

I like the bouncy curls! And I think this cut makes you look younger. Not that you look old, normally. But, this is particularly youthful. You should probably hit the juniors section to celebrate! 🙂

I love love love love LOVE this. I can’t tell you how much I love this length on you! It is very flattering. Your hair curls so nicely, too, even if it isn’t the choppy waves like Megan’s. I’ve had a blunt bob cut for over a year now and I decided last week I wanted to grow it back out to the length you have now… these photos make me SO anxious for it to be at this point! My hair grows incredibly slowly so I’ll update you in a year or two when it finally gets there ;p

I would use a curling wand with some texture spray. Second day hair would look amazing with the curls and texture too!

Your hair looks great but if you are looking for less bouncy try pulling the strand straight down while it’s still hot – that will stretch it out and give you more of that Megan Fox look

karen, have you tried twisting and diffusing to get megan fox look? i have thick wavy hair in a layered cut, and that’s my default look. i put in non-silicone smoothing cream and texture cream. i flip upside down and diffuse my natural waves, then flip upright to shape and sculpt the waves into the desired shape.

I love the shorter hair, I am thinking of cutting mine also a few inches but it just grew so long but when I see such cute pics of shorter hair I kind of want it that way, too. Can’t wait to see how you’ll style it from now on 😉

Love, love, LOVE your hair! I just went shorter, too, got about 5 inches off and it’s just below the collarbone. I love it but it also takes more work. It doesn’t go back in a braid or ponytail easily without layers poking out.
