Chanel Cote D’Azur Summer 2009 Aqualumiere Lipglosses: Six-Pack Abs Not Included

Skip down down memory lane with me for a sec…

Remember how Chanel dropped the fabulous coral dream that was Gazelle Glossimer on us for summer last year?

Girrrrrl, that was some good shizz! To this day I foam at the mouth Kujo-style when I think of Gazelle. It was THAT good.

This summer, I had myself braced and ready for another orgasmic Glossimer moment from Chanel, but they decided to throw me a curve ball. For their Cote D’Azur summer collection they skipped the Glossimer entirely and released four Aqualumiere Glosses ($27 each) instead.

chanel aqualumiere gloss candy glow

chanel aqualumiere gloss ginger shimmer

chanel aqualumiere gloss cherry blossom

chanel aqualumiere gloss tangerine dream

No big deal, but I was a little bummed not to get another Glossimer this time around.

It’s not like I feel like I’m settling for less because I totally dig the Aqualumiere Glosses, too. They’re hydrating, non-sticky on my pucker and impart a shiny finish I love.

But the colors of this particular lineup didn’t spark the same sort of lipgloss fever I felt with Gazelle.

They’re attractive and have that sexy yet classic vibe Chanel does so well, like something I could wear while tooling around on a yacht in the Mediterranean, sipping champagne — you know, stuff I have the opportunity to do all the time, LOL!

Of course, in a fantasy like that I’d also be wearing an elegant Diane von Furstenberg dress, have six-pack abs and perfect, well-behaved hair.

Gotta dream big, ya know?

About the colors, what do you think? How do you feel about not getting another Glossimer this time?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Fellow Glossimer lovers, all is not lost. We’ll get our fix next month when Chanel’s Celestial Lights Collection arrives. Just gotta make it till then!

chanel is releasing some new glossimers in May. Maybe that’s why they didn’t add one to the summer collection. Love your blog. Read it every day.

Yeah, the colors are kinda sheer, aren’t they? They don’t really set my world on fire. I’ve never actually bought anything by Chanel before–so pricey! It’s probably only a matter of time, but I don’t think it will be these glosses I’ll go for.

Ginger shimmer looks like it should be called the cherry blossom shade! I love them. I deffinately am digging the sheerness and wetlook they have.

Do they bleed at all? The red one looks like it could after a few hours of wear..

I know Karen.. i have my fantasys too. All involving six pack abs.. a cholesterol level under 3 and a house in Monte Carlo. For now ill just have to be content with my Nars multiples. The shade names ‘Riviera’ etc.. are the closest Ill come (at least this year) to living in the med!!

This bums me out, i too was looking forward to more glossimers. These are pretty, but theyre so sheer and I like more color with my gloss. With these, I feel like i can get the same effect with some gloss from the drugstore.

I love the Aqualumieres, they are one of the only glosses I can wear that don’t make my lips chap, so moisturising. I’ve been lemming candy glow for ages and I really like Tangerine dream but not sure whether it will work on my super pale skin, what do you think?

    Hello Beautiful,
I am not liking sheer because I have very pigmented lips. I probably will not be buying any of those sheer glosses. I need coverage like the Bare Escentuals Buxom Lip Glosses-full coverage versions. They are nice!! So, listen up cutie Karl Lagerfeld!!

    Hi Karen,
Well you got me to buy gazelle – luckily my local Macy’s had a lone tube – it came out last summer and i found it around xmas! i tried many times to make this color work but i guess it wasn’t the coral for me =(

i gave it to my sister – so I am hoping she has better luck with it than me!

i am willing to give Tangerine Dream a chance on my next payday!!

these are so pretty. I still want cherry blossom. But ginger shimmer looks so pretty on you!!! I’m OK w/o a glossimer-mainly because I’ve never tried one. Ignorance is bliss, ya know?

I got to be honest, Karen, none of those newer shades look any more impressive than an average drugstore lip gloss to me. The Glossimer in Gazelle, however, looks *beautiful*. I hope it’s still in stores, because my makeup goal is to have bought a Chanel lip gloss by the end of the year, lol, and that might be the one I choose!

My favorite higher end lip glosses are from Smashbox or Stila because I can always find them on some sort of massively discounted gift package. Did you hear about Stila going bankrupt thought? 🙁

I love how all of these gives you a subtle bee-stung look. The colors are so pretty and soft…that said, I’m definitely still curious about the Gazelle gloss–I’m sure it will blow me away!
P.S I’m right there with ya on the yacht 🙂
