Introducing the Tom Ford Lips & Boys Limited Edition Lipstick Collection: Gentlemen, Start My Engine!

December 24th, 2014 by Karen 20 Comments

Tom Ford Lips & Boys

Ain’t nothing wrong with friendly male companionship! Don’t tell El Hub, but I’ve been spending a lot of time with some new worldly dudes. Meet six of the gentlemen from Tom Ford’s Lips & Boys limited edition lipstick collection. 🙂

Giacomo

Giacomo from Milan loves giving ladies late night tours of the city on his Vespa…

Cooper

Cooper from London enjoys long walks in the rain, reading literature aloud next to a cozy fire, and exchanging furtive kisses between the stacks at the bookstore…

Justin

Justin, the handsome honey from LA, acts like a party boy, but really, deep down inside, he just wants to get married and raise a family in The Valley.

He’ll invite you over to his midcentury modern mini-mansion nestled high in the hills above the city, and as you both sip wine and watch the sunset from the rooftop, he’ll woo you with his long lashes and hazel eyes…

Rafael

Meet Rafael in Barcelona for 48 hours of unscripted adventure. You won’t get any sleep, so bring concealer and — ahem! — your booty call bag.

Alejandro

When you’re with Alejandro from Rio de Janeiro, you won’t have to wait in any lines. He knows everyone who’s anyone in town, so bring your dancing shoes, and prepare yourself for what you’ll fondly remember as one of the best weekends of your life.

Luca

Sweet Luca from San Francisco is smart, funny, loves cats, and he’ll surprise you the next morning with breakfast in bed.

You like to play the field (why settle for just one boy?), but sweet Luca might be a keeper.

The Tom Ford Lips & Boys collection

  • $32 for a 0.07-oz. travel-size tube (versus Tom’s regular full-size 0.10-oz. tubes, which sell for $50)
  • Each of the 50 available shades is named after a different man Tom Ford admires…
  • There are 50 shades in nine families — 1) nudes to browns, 2) silvers to blacks, 3) metallics, 4) light pinks to mauves, 5) fuchsias to magentas, 6) corals to oranges, 7) reds, 8) violets to orchids and 9) plums
  • Limited edition, and launching December 26 at Tom Ford counters and online

SO CUTE THAT I WANT TO SQUEEZE DAH KITTENS. Yeah, the adorable factor on these is sky high.

Small enough to fit into a clutch, but not so small that they’re difficult to work with. I can easily apply these on my lips without feeling as clumsy as Shrek, or worrying about the tubes snapping in half.

The six shades I’ve tried seem very much like the full-size Tom Ford lipsticks I adore — same heft in my hands, same creamy coverage, moisturizing formula, and lots of rich color, especially among the brighter pinks and reds.

At $32 each, they’re a slightly better deal per ounce than Tom’s $50 full-size lipsticks, but oh, my pearls! — they’re still crazy expensive. Total A+ material if they were $20 instead (now maybe a B+).

Also, and this was obviously a grave oversight on Tom’s part, I’m kinda bummed that there isn’t one named after El Hub. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh, how yummy! I *might* be able to justify springing for one of these, as opposed to a full-size… his lippies look so freaking stunning and easy to wear and use, and I could totes go for something in a classy nude and a daring darker color.
But – good ol’ TF forgot MY hubby’s name, too!! #howrude 🙂

Hey Karen, how did you narrow down to these six shades? IMHO, you chose well

I really love this collection. But how cool would it be, if you could choose the name of a boy (to be printed on the label) yourself?

I really want to get one but I really cannot decide which one. Merry Christmas, Karen!

As much as I love luxe cosmetics, I always feel super expensive lippies are over priced. This is why I resist Guerlain and TF. I tried to buy a new NARS one this fall but they were sold out and my order got canceled!

This collection is just so cute! I love all of the colors you picked. Especially Justin and Rafael. They look so beautiful on you! These are a little pricey but I’m hoping I can score some Christmas cash and get one or two lol

I love that they are smaller and a better value, maybe I can convince myself to indulge in Tom Ford that way.
And the possibility of using one up is there. I own so many lipsticks, I never seem to finish one.
Now I just have to decide if I want Cooper, Justin or Rafael… Or maybe Alejandro? Ah, the struggle!

Merry Christmas to you, Karen! And just when I thought there were only two men in your life (El Hub & Tabs). All of those “boys” look good on you, any one from the Philippines? The Island boy from Boracay Beach? Ha ha!

I keep going back wanting to try more and more colors of these fabulous little babies. I could go broke this way. I have a thing for lipstick! And I agree, Tom didn’t name one after my DH, either. Oh well. I have all Tom’s beautiful colors and my DH all to myself!

I LOVE how you reviewed this collection; I’ve been scouring the internet and your review is the first one I’ve seen that is so incredibly creative. I love the storylines for each of the lipsticks, and it makes me even more excited to receive my order in the mail. I kind of wish you purchased all of the shades, would have loved to get swept away with more globe-trotting stories 🙂

Ok, so I’m obviously going to say Cooper is my fave as a London living gal, but seriously, all of those colours look amazing. Great photos to give their true colour pay off, Tom Ford has done it again! Thanks for sharing 😀
