17 Ways to Think Pink

February 17th, 2015 by Karen 18 Comments

Hello, Pink!

I can’t pinpoint exactly when it happened, and something tells me it had to do with the constant presence of tabby fur on my person, but somewhere along the way, my closet became the Novato version of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Literally. Like almost everything in there is a shade of gray or black.

There are a few occasional bursts of color here and there, but I’d say that 80% of the clothes in my closet are gray…

I walk around dressed like a storm cloud of doom.

So when I opened my closet this morning and looked through all the gray shirts and pants, that was it! Something snapped. I decided I’m done wearing so much gray.

But why all the gray in the first place? Well, it’s not that I’m afraid to wear colorful clothing. Not at all. I love colorful clothes! The problem is…so does the cat hair! But my tabby’s fur doesn’t stand out on gray.

One day, hopefully soon, I’ll be able to open my closet doors and see a bright explosion of happy, fun colors that reflect how I feel on the inside — like a turquoise pegasus with a rainbow mane flying across a cloudless blue sky. 🙂

Or something like that.

pinkI’m starting by gathering inspiration, and I found a ton of it today in the form of pink while I was cruising the Nordstrom website. Pink is one of my favorite colors to wear. Vibrant hot pinks, soft baby pinks, sultry coral pinks — if it’s pink, chances are I’ll want to wear it.

I put a bunch of things in my cart today that I desperately want have no intention of getting (yeah, you don’t even want to see the total, LOL!), but ya know how it is… Window shopping. And thinking.

Maybe there’s something here I could get… Maybe just one thing??

Haha!

    I’m pinked out!!

    I like everything except —

the Tildon & Topshop stuff look nicer online than they are IRL. The fabrics tend to be cheap (scratchy), the sleeves tight, odd fit through the body. Not happy experiences for me.

The Zela Spa tee might be rayon-cling-nightmare. Unless you like cling. Wrap.

    Pineapples, yes! Kate Spade, yes!

Kendra Scott earrings are usually BIG.

“Gray” has been very “in” or at least those shades have flooded the clothing market. jcrew is downright depressing!

Spring fever can be murder on a budget. Kill it softly!!

I have a bright yellow cardigan in my cart on JCrew. I want to add some cheerful colors to my winter wardrobe. I get stuck in a rut sometimes.

Pink will look great combined with grey actually. That tweed jacket is stunning. I think you should get it, it would look great on you. I love the leather Topshop peplum jacket too.

Get all the pink things! So pretty. Love, love the first dress, the slub knit tee and the Kate Spade lipstick earrings.
I have too much black in my closet. I have trouble with colors so it’s an easy fallback for me.
But I have two pink tee shirts and a pink scarf and a pink sweater and whenever I wear any of them I get massive compliments.
So I’m thinking I must gradually go to an all pink wardrobe with one or two pairs of black pants…

Pink instantly cheers me up! And I’m around it a lot since I have four nieces under the age of four! I also like wearing pink makeup; I’m fair-skinned & it’s a great color to make me look more awake & with it than I actually feel somedays…

That peplum jacket looks very pretty. But don’t shun your grey clothes too much, the great thing about them is you can wear any Makeup you like, which may be impossible while wearing a fuchsia dress…

I love the pink trousers – the pale one probably a little bit more – and that Michael Kors watch, so beautiful!

Both dresses, the jeans, the watch, that peplum jacket- wowsers! All such pretty pieces. I’m def a fan of you getting at least ONE item on this list. Which one? No idea. Very difficult to choose. But if you DO get one (or two or three) you must put it here on the blog. That way, we can all live vicariously through you

I would snap up the boyfriend blazer and the bright hydrangea skinny jeans if I hadn’t just spent $$ at Nordstrom’s online clearance sale picking up a couple of bras in my new, post-weight-loss size (32G is hard to find). Also love the bright herringbone dress. The Kate Spade watch and lipstick earring are totally cute, but I can’t see myself actually wearing them all that often. Can you tell I love bright pink, lol? Pastel pink just washes me out.

A great way to add more color to your wardrobe without spending mega-bucks is to stock up on scarves at Target. They have some fantastic ones for $10 – $20. I have several, and get compliments on them all the time. The new spring ones should be in the stores next month.

How fun! I have so much black in my closet, but I try to add a pop of color here and there. I really like the shift dress and that pink, long sleeve tee looks cute and comfy. I have a pair of pink flats that I wear in warmer weather. Can’t wait to break them out again!

    What a pinky day !
    I love your selection.
Particularly the Topshop Tailored Peplum Jacket, great shape.
And the Michael kors watch, and the Ray-Ban’s and the little bag.
    Smells like spring.

OK, so for you, I’m going with the herringbone dress. Somehow, it just seems “you”. 🙂 For me, undoubtedly the Stem Perfect Slub Tee (the Zella is too sheer for me and heaven forbid I dress up my wardrobe with anything else – HAHA!). That Michael Kors watch is sweet, though. The Ray Bans almost made me cry. Many years ago in Switzerland, I tried on Gucci sunglasses with pink lenses and was IN LOVE. The Hubs and my mom/her stylish friend preferred a different pair and I listened to them. I still like those very much but have ALWAYS regretted not getting the Guccis. I’ve never seen them again. PS I’m sure I’ve said this, but my wardrobe is 90% black. If I ever wear color, people at work joke that Johnny Cash is disappointed. 🙂

Love the lipstick earrings and the fit and flare dress! I have a lot of gray too because I like how it looks on me, I think it’s just a coincidence that my cat is gray, lol! What I like to do is put a pop of color with the gray, like a pink undershirt with a gray cardi, or a gray tshirt with a pink statement necklace

I love, love, love pinks. Any shade. I got married in a pink wedding dress and had a pink and white wedding. I’m so happy to see pink is big this spring.

I’m with ya on my closet starting to look a bit monochromatic – it’s all black, gray and green. I keep trying to find work pants in other colors but no luck! That fuchsia blazer is to die for.
