A Quick Look at the New Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Enigma [VIDEO]

March 11th, 2015 by Karen 27 Comments

Ah, eyeshadow primer…

If you have trubs getting your shadows to stay where they belong, the answer might be an Enigma, as in Urban Decay’s new limited edition Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Enigma ($20).

Today I’m wearing this creamy cool matte for the very first time.

WARNING: lots of bare-faced action and crazy-pants hair ahead!

As always, thank you for watching. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I saw that new PP this morning and I was thinking of grabbing it, but I have this love/hate relationship with UDPP. I love how they make my makeup last forever and more, but I hate how patchy the tinted Eden goes and how dry it makes my eyelids look. I also find it difficult to blend shadows on top. So… I don’t know, I kind of want to support their charity but I’m not completely sure I’ll like it.

      Hey Lulle!

Have you tried prepping the lids first with a eye cream? I use one that absorbs quickly (MAC Fast Response) and it seems to help with the primers that go on patchy.

I have, in fact my eyelids are getting drier and drier with time, and I absolutely need eye cream on the lid to avoid the crepey look, but UDPP is still usually unforgiving – especially Eden, the original is a little less problematic.

I loooove Urban Decay’s original Primer Potion and the anti-aging version, so this is very interesting!

I was curious about this color. I have so many eye primers right now that I’m trying to use stuff up. BUT, LE? I may have to bite.
Loving your videos and your lack of makeup today was just lovely. 😀

      Hey Majick,

      Aww, thanks babe!

How many eye primers do you have up in the mix right now? Which one is your fave?

UD and Too Faced eye primers haven’t worked at all for me. When I discovered nars’ primer I was so happy. It works 95% of the time without missing a beat! I also don’t have to worry about color since I’m so pale!

      Hi Jenn,

Yeah, the NARS one is pretty fab. I stock up on them during the Sephora VIB sale. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve gone through… Did you know that you can put them in your brows as a primer for brow products?

It’s limited edition, some hopefully you’ll be able to get your hands on it.

I like the looks of that a lot. I love that all the money goes to charity.

I really like the original and Greed (gold). Greed is great for when my eyelids are dark from insomnia, and of course, under gold shadows.

Never apologize for smelling the product. Many of us are allergic to scents around our eyes. I really appreciate that you sniffed it for us. 😀

      Hi Rachel R.,

Aww, I’m glad my basset hound nose could help. LOL!

Hope you are having a nice day. It’s muggy and humid here in Northern California. I just got back from a walk… I spent a long time petting my neighbor’s cute dog!

It was beautiful and in the upper 60s- lower 70s most of the past week, but today it started getting cloudy, really humid, and we saw some sprinkles. It’s supposed to dry back out, but the Willamette Valley…you never know. It’s so hard to predict the weather here.

Hi Karen! I really enjoy watching your videos! I especially like that you demoed the product. This primer is so pretty. I’ve always loved UDPP, so this primer is right up my alley. 🙂

I have tried UDPP original and TFSI but I keep coming back to the Coastal Scents Primer. It works really well, doesn’t dry out the lids and is much more affordable! I’ve wanted to try the NARS one since everyone raves about it but find it hard to shell out the big bucks when I already have a couple in my stash 😛 I use eye primer only 50% of the time anyway!

I love UDPP! It’s the only primer I use because it works so well for me. I am loving these videos you’re doing too, btw. I think this one is a go for me!

karen! I really hope you can help me. Now, no matter which primer I have used.. the eyeshadow always ends up creasing… I don’t know what it is! Gahh.

I have used Tarte, Urban Decay, Bareminerals, Smashbox, etc.

Can you recommend one? Its not that I have hooded eyes, either.. so I don’t know what the problemo is ya know?

I havent yet tried the UDPP but would love to see how they work for my oily lids.. I have NYX HD one and it does fairly good job at locking in the eye shadows.. it is not particularly matte rather creamy/dewy so would like to see how these matte finish works for me! 🙂

BTW i liked your bare face tut 😉 .. you look pretty even without any makeup too.. 🙂

are you still nervous about doing videos, karen? you shouldn’t be, your videos are great – informative and funny.

anyway, i’m one of those people who don’t get the UD primers’ greatness. i think they’re ok. i actually like the mac paintpots (and the earlier paints) better as eyeshadow base. now those lasts and lasts on me.

I really liked the fact you showed application with both fingers and a brush, I’ve previously only tapped the original primer potion on my eyelids but the brush application looked really natural like a base eye colour. Which domed shadow brush were you using?

Hi, Karen! I decided to order a couple of these after watching your video. The brightening look of it really appeals to me. And the packaging looks very chic, too.

By the way, I’ve been a fan of your blog for years but just recently started watching your videos (don’t know what took me so long). I just wanted to say your thorough and informative–not to mention upbeat–style of blogging and vlogging is so refreshing. Plus, you love cats! =^..^=
