With the Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint Powder Duo Bronzers, Subtlety Plays a Big Part

If there’s one thing Guerlain “gets” better than most brands it’s bronzers. They do toasty, tanned glows so well.

The latest additions to their brood of bad-@ss bronzers, the $53 Terracotta Joli Teint Natural Healthy Glow Powder Duos, are available now in four shades — 00 Light Blondes, 02 Natural Blondes, 01 Clair Brunettes and 03 Naturel Brunettes — and even though their names correspond to different hair colors, I don’t think you have to necessarily stick to your matching shade. Myself, I bounce back and forth between 02 Naturel Blondes and 01 Clair Brunettes.

These face powder duos pair a bronzing shade for warmth with a brighter pop of color for radiance in every pan, and breaking with their own tradition when it comes to bronzers, Guerlain made these less pigmented this time around. These are more like light golden tan browns than the rich bronzed browns I’m more accustomed to seeing from the brand.

The goal was to glow without looking garish, so subtlety plays a big part — more subtlety than usual for bronzers by Guerlain.

And that’s also a caveat. When I wear these, I don’t really see a major wow factor on my medium-toned skin. The effect may be a little too subtle for some makeup lovers, especially darker divas, and especially considering the $53 price.

Lighter lovelies and pale princesses should, however, be in luck. I like that none of these bronzers seem overly orange or red, and the powders blend beautifully and look effortless on the skin.

If you’re around my shade or deeper (a MAC NC42), I think you’d be better off with one of Guerlain’s classics, like the Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzers and Terracota Bronzing Powders.

One last thing to nose — oops! I meant “note.” These smell strongly of gardenia/tiare flower, which is typical (and typically wonderful, because I love the scent) of other Guerlain bronzers.

You can find the Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint Natural Healthy Glow Powder Duos online now and at Guerlain counters and Sephora.

PRICE: $53 each

MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B (lovely but subtle, and — ouch! — the price)

I own the 02 and I’ve been using it as my finishing powder. I swirl it in a figure of 3 across the pan and love the effect it gives. As a bonus, love the gardenia scent in all the Guerlain Terracotta line.

Well these do sound just right up my alley! Yay for subtle and no orange or red 😀

I used mine as an allover powder for very light coverage. It formed a hard/cakey layer that wouldn’t go away so I returned it. :/ I prefer their regular bronzers to do the job. I loved the smell though! I bought the Terracotta perfume (among many other things my bank account is hating me for right now) and it smells amazing. Kinda sad it is a limited edition perfume because I am using the bottle pretty quick!

*swoon* If I had money to spare I’d know what to spend it on, that’s for sure.

I had a feeling these would be too sheer for me but I definitely want one of those Terracotta bronzers

They look so pretty, but I already own enough bronzer to last me a lifetime!

These scream of Charlotte Tilbury! Btw, think you’ll ever try out anything from her beauty range?

They look surprisingly pink for a bronzer! I suppose the concept is similar to the Hourglass bronzers?
