Unsung Makeup Heroes: Tom Ford Cognac Sable Eye Color Quad

My much loved Tom Ford Cognac Sable Eye Color Quad, $79

Ooh, girl. I gotta be straight with you, because I’m not about to have you fall in love with Tom Ford Cognac Sable and then be heartbroken because of the price.

This quad is $79!

ERHMAHGAWD. So painful. It’s enough to make me want to bite my fist or fall face down on the floor. Sometimes both. But that’s Tom Ford for you. It isn’t exactly BOGO, if you know what I mean, but if you’re OK with that issue, then sweet baby tabbies! — this quad is beautiful. Almost always when I bring it with me on trips, it gets a lot of use.

It has four shades — a shimmery golden peachy beige with a hint of pink pearl, a medium-toned satiny golden brown with tiny flecks of gold shimmer, a deeper satiny plum with golden micro-glitter, and a copper glitter. Each one is a workhorse with a little special kick of its own, like the flash of pearly pink in the light golden beige.

Hands down, this is my favorite of the Tom Ford quads I’ve used.

The long-running Unsung Heroes series here on Makeup and Beauty Blog features some of my all-time favorite permanent collection products.

This is just a freakishly versatile combination of shades that can be worn in so many different ways, and no matter how I use them, whether in a single wash of color on my lids, or in an intricate bronze smokey eye, or with the copper glitter pressed all by itself on my lids with a finger, I feel like my eye makeup looks elegant.

Of course, Cognac Sable hits all the necessary notes for a (GULP) $79 quad. The three non-glittery shades are highly pigmented, easy to blend and last a long time (about eight hours for me, even in hot weather).

If you’re looking for a great summer-to-fall transition palette, I’m serious — Cognac Sable. You could take it with you to the coast and use it for light washes of bronze and peach (with the occasional pat of glitter) right now, and then move onto darker, plummier bronze looks in fall.

And don’t even worry about struggling to find something for your lips to wear with it, because it totes doesn’t care. It pairs with almost everything, especially nudes, peaches, pinks, browns, corals, reds and plums.

Flash back to dark hair! That’s Cognac Sable on my eyes…

To go buck wild with Cognac Sable, visit it in the permanent collection at Tom Ford counters and online, where it’s available meow. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Lawd! This is the LAST thing I needed to see. I already had his eyeliner pen on my wish list and now this. It’s definitely one pretty lil’ thing. Happy it’s permanent. One day, Tom. One day….

So gorgeous! I just bought this quad a few weeks ago and have been wondering how to wear it. Do you mind sharing how you put together your look?

I bought this quad back in February as a “happy birthday to me”, and I’ve never regretted it. It blends like no one’s business, and just looks absolutely stunning. 🙂

I don’t really care about Cognac Sable but I really need to know what were you wearing in that pic.

One of my faves! I’ve had this quad for a few years now and it was my very first TF purchase. Stunning!

Cognac Sable was my first TF palette and I’m not regretting the price tag, the palette is beautiful. It’s my perfect warm eyeshadow palette 🙂

I have Cocoa Mirage but now I wish I had sprung for Cognac Sable. Somehow I let the SAs convince me that because I’m fair and cool to neutral toned that it would work better for me. But sometimes a little warmth on the eyes works wonders against my fair skin. Need to save up to buy the Cognac Sable, because it is calling my name!
Love TF cosmetics. Wish there were more cream eye shadow colors.
BTW, what lip color are you wearing in the photos above? Lovely color on you!

I love the lipstick you’re wearing in that pic. What is it?
