Weird! I just looked up the term “cutie patootie” in the dictionary, and right there on the page was a picture of Zac Efron!

Fo’ reals, though. 🙂

Girl, how come you didn’t tell me to watch 17 Again sooner!? It was such a cute movie! And I love movies like that. I feel like I really dropped the ball on that one by not watching it sooner… LOL!

Rise and shine, morning glory! Judging by the sun streaming through my windows, it’s a beautiful, but eerily quiet, day. I don’t hear a single bird singing right now, which is highly unusual… Most mornings are a cacophony of bird-related activity, but I don’t hear a single tweet or chirp. I wonder what’s going on out there…

Oh! I can’t believe I almost forgot to mention this, but do you ever play fancy card games? El Hub has been getting me into boardgames and card games lately, and he ordered a really fun one from Amazon called Love Letters. It’s so much fun! It’s quick and easy to play, and only about $10, but we have a blast. Highly recommended for couples.

love-letters-game

I’m kind of anticipating some power outages this fall and winter due to this whole El Niño thing, so we’re stocking up on a few games to have around just in case.

Good luck in the giveaway this long weekend, my friend! I hope you’re doing something fun for Labor Day. 🙂

Prize

  • One (1) MAC eGift card containing $50 sent to the winner by email (international readers, you may opt to receive $50 sent by PayPal instead).

I’ve never even thought about bringing my foundation over my ears. Is that a thing people do? It never crossed my mind lol. This beautiful holiday weekend I plan to live at my pool. I’m expecting to be a shade darker come Tuesday.

Strange as it may sound, since I was teenager I’ve memorized passages of the “Libro del Buen Amor”, a Spanish piqaresque compilation from the 14th century. It has very funny passages, and moving poems, like the death of the “matchmaker” Trotaconventos:
    ¡Ay Muerte! ¡muerta sseas, muerta e malandante!
matásteme mi vieja: ¡matasses a mí enante!
Enemiga del mundo, que non as semejante:

I’ll comment on two. I don’t bring foundation over my ears, however, I always use both foundation and powder, and use the powder over my ears. That seems to do the trick, and I find it easier! As for memorizing passages from a book, I took a Shakespeare course and memorized one of the sonnets (and recited it in front of the whole class!) I also memorized a Wordsworth poem just because I liked it so much!

A special time of day for you?

Early morning on workdays and 7 ish pm any night – my man and I finally have the same work schedules after 8 years of him getting up just after 4 am for work. It’s been great getting ready with him in the morning. We get up early so we can leisurely get ready, fix coffee/hot breakfast and we have music playing in the background. It’s 5:30 or so and it’s all quiet and peaceful outside and it feels like we’re the only 2 people up and about. I love that, it’s just he and I for the first 2 hours of the day. 7 pm because that’s when our day is officially done and we head for the couch to watch one of our shows or read or whatever. No answering the phone, no more working on work brought home, just time to ourselves.

I think the most underrated hair product is cheap hair gel. I use a little gel to stop frizz, and I have tried all kinds of brands. I find the high end ones either hold too much and feel like glue, or flake and make me look like I have dandruff. I have the best luck with the big tubs of store brand. The cheaper the gel, the better it seems to work!

Foundation over my ears? Uh, no way. 1) My hair covers my ears. 2) I usually only concentrate foundation over the center of my face and blend it out to nothing at the sides of my face where my skin is more even toned. I don’t think my foundation ever goes on thick enough or far enough to make it to my ears or jawline. Just my preference. I like sheer to light coverage foundations and meticulous application of concealer over any red spots.

Are there any books from which you’ve memorized certain passages?

Nope. I do have a document where I input passages of books that really resonate with me. Sometimes I write them out and put them on my walls. The only time I’ve ever taken the trouble to memorize passages was when I took a Shakespeare class during high school. We were quizzed on each act and some questions required us to quote passages from memory. This was the most difficult literature class I’ve ever taken (including my college years) but definitely one of the most enjoyable–i’ve always thought I was so lucky to have a teacher who was so dramatic.

AMC theaters make the best movie theater popcorn while I think Trader Joe’s makes really good microwavable popcorn because they claim that they make it without any artificial ingredients, although I don’t know how they make good butter popcorn with less fat!

I’ve put my foundation on with a buffing brush, typically. I then quickly buff the excess on my ears. This is done prior to any earrings, of course. The main reason I do this goofiness is because my ears tend to be constantly more red than anywhere on my head. If I blush, my ears turn nearly crimson, lol!! I also feel it provides a nice, unified canvas across the face. I usually use a light to medium coverage foundation, a la MAC’s Face and Body or Smashbox BB water foundation. This technique may be tougher with a full coverage, but do-able by using the excess at the end. Love your blog! It’s my go-to daily beauty blog!

Are there any books from which you’ve memorized certain passages?
Harry Potter…though I’d never recite outloud, but definitely mull over during random moments.
