MAC Holiday 2015 | Enchanted Eve Lip Compact in Pink Lipstick

The MAC Holiday 2015 Enchanted Eve Lip Compact in Pink Lipstick ($25; coming Oct. 18 to the MAC website and Oct. 22 to MAC counters and stores), one of two Lip Compacts in the new holiday collection

Ooh! All three of the pinks in the MAC Enchanted Eve Lip Compact in Pink Lipstick look like good “going out” colors, but if you do go out and bring this compact along, don’t forget to also bring a lip brush — that is, unless you don’t mind applying lipstick with your fingers in the bathroom at the club, and can you ever remember seeing a “clean” bathroom at da club??

Yeah, I didn’t think so…

One of two lip palettes in the new MAC holiday collection (the other one has corals), Pink Lipstick arrives with the rest of the collection Oct. 18 to the MAC website and at counters and stores Oct. 22, and it comes packed with three party-ready pinks — a light pastel pink called Saint Germain, a dark fuchsia called Let’s Rendezvous and a deep pinkish purple called Wined + Dined.

The quality of MAC’s holiday lip palettes seems to be more in line with what I’ve come to expect from the lip products in the permanent line, and that’s also the case here. Still, my lips have been drier than usual lately, and I don’t think they’re up to the light pastel pink Saint Germain or Wined + Dined matte formula. Neither one has patience for flakes, but the third shade, Let’s Rendezvous, is smoother and flake friendlier.

Since Pink Lipstick doesn’t come with a lip brush, you’ll have to provide your own, and right now I’m using and liking the $26 #30 Precision Lip brush by NARS. It’s retractable and has a cover, so I can drop it in my purse, and the compact brush head evenly lays down color exactly where I want it. Then, after I use it, but before I put the cap back on, I wipe the brush with a paper towel to keep it working well and looking good longer. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Wow, I’m really surprised by the coverage of St. Germain. For some reason, I expected it to be more sheer. Bummer about the lip brush but, of course, you found an excellent solution. 🙂

All three of these shades are gorgeous, but why would they put it in a compact, and not provide a brush? I would have loved to see mini lipsticks or something, I’m always bad with lipsticks in compacts 😀

I’ve always had a thing for lip palettes! Good to know the quality is there, I’ll look into the coral one.

Lip palettes aren’t really my thing I’m afraid. And neither are these particular shades. I like the two darker ones on you though.

That’s so weird there was no brush, but I carry a retractable one in my makeup bag, so no biggie. I love these colors, and I think these compacts are really cute.
