Don’t You Hate It When…

Don’t you hate it when you show up to the Halloween party and see someone across the room wearing what looks like the EXACT same outfit?

rainbow dash

“Nah,” you think. “There’s no way! What are the odds!?”

But then you sneak across the room to take a closer look…

And you realize that it’s not the EXACT same outfit (thank goodness!). It’s close, but hey, at least you both have great style! 🙂 Before you know it, you’re talking shop and taking selfies by the punch bowl…

Er…I guess I’m dressing up as Pregnant Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony for Halloween this year, LOL!

I mean, I don’t even know where to start with this costume. You know you’re doing it right, though, when you walk into the room, and your significant other says, “You look absolutely ridiculous.”

rainbow dash k full

Since there’s a LOT going on here in terms of all the teal, the faux fur and the rainbows and pony ears (!), I paired the bright blueish teal smoky eye with nude cheeks and lips.

You know…to keep from going OTT. 🙂

Here’s the main makeup…

  • EYESHADOW: Urban Decay Evidence (the shimmery blue on the lids), Urban Decay Deep End (the bright teal in inner corner), Dolce & Gabbana Ocean (the matte greenish blue in the crease), NARS Dogon II (the satiny gray blue in the outer corner) and NARS Pandora (lash lines)
  • EYELINER: Urban Decay 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Chaos
  • LASHES: Salon Perfect Demi Wispies False Lashes
  • CHEEKS: MAC Gingerly Blush
  • LIPS: MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Oh Honey, MAC Cremesheen in Creme D’Nude and MAC Plushglass in Big Baby

For great costume ideas —-> Party City. That’s where I got this one.

So! That’s what I’m wearing to hand out candy this year (and to startle the neighborhood children). 🙂 I expect to see some very surprised faces when I open the door and shout, “Boo!”

How ’bout you? If you’re dressing up this year, do you have your costume picked out? Time is running out!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

But why is that eyeshadow look pretty, though?! Super cute costume. And you make a lovely pony. My niece & nephew will be here for Halloween & I’m fur-sitting for the cutest golden doodle ever. She’s only 1 so she’s still a pup but she looks like a big poodle! She may be joining us for trick or treating this year. Looking at your costume makes me want to join in on the fun & dress up. Not sure what my niece is dressing up as but I’m totes looking forward to it. 🙂

I dressed as a fairy last week! I might put together a planet costume for the Star Wars theme at work (pretty easy, just get a big sweatshirt and cut off the sleeves, add my star patterned leggings) – I was thinking I’d use my hula hoops as rings as an excuse to hula hoop at work. But, I might just do fairy again and say screw the theme! (I voted for Harry Potter, which lost by 2 votes)

No,no this year. I haven’t the past couple of years. Just not been in the mood. No parties and nothing fun around me anymore to do for “big people”. My daughter is going as a girl minion and my dog is a taco!

I hear ya. It took me a while to get into the spirit. I’ll show up for the candy though (I’m all about the Mini Snickers).

How cute that both your daughter and your dog are dressing up. Do you guys go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood? Where I live we get a few trick-or-treaters, usually 2-3 big groups of kids that come at once.

Yeah, I think next year I should dress up too. She’s getting big on me. Almost at the age where she doesn’t want mom around anymore. It’s heartbreaking and so less tiring at the same time! You will get it one day soon!
We actually go to my sister’s neighborhood. She has a big party for kids and the parents who want to stay, hang out and have some cocktails. She lives around the corner. So, they are all in the same school. My sister has a boy dog. So my girl dog hangs out with hers. Oh, we didn’t leave our cat out! Stripey has a race car costume. It looks like a care with a little mouse riding her back. lol! She will not walk with it on though. Jus crouches down. She looses the race every time. 🙂

Aww, I’m already dreading the day Baby Girl turns into a tween and starts asking mom to drop her off at the corner. 🙁 I can’t handle it!!

How lucky you are to have your sis live right around the corner. My brother is a bridge away and I never see him. It must be nice to pop over there whenever you want.

And LOL regarding Stripey’s race car costume. At least she’s in the race?! Have you tried bribing her with treats? That always works with Tabs.

I love everything about this costume! We went to a party last weekend and someone was dressed like Lord Business from the Lego movie. I was hoping his wife would be UniKitty but, no such luck. Rainbow Dash is a close 2nd. 🙂 I was the Tootsie Pop Owl and the Hubs was, of course, a Tootsie Pop.

You can do it! If you can do smoky eyes you can rock this look. It’s your basic smoky shadow placement — all you have to do is sub your brown, gray and black shades for different shades of blue. It helps to do a matte blue in the crease for contrast and either a satiny dark gray or a matte dark gray in the outer corner. YOU CAN DO IT!

      Hi Tatiana,

You can do blue! If you’re ready for eyeshadow, how about a little bit of blue liner? You could do a thin line on the upper lash line. And if it still feels like too much, you can smudge the edges so that it looks more like a hint of blue. YOU CAN DO IT!!! 😀

Thanks for noticing because I did do something different! I used a thin layer of Diorskin Nude Air Serum as a base and Sephora Future Gel Serum Concealer sparingly on my cheeks, around my mouth, on my jawline and my nose. Blended it all together with a BeautyBlender, then set it with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. 🙂

So I think I’ll be wearing my fave cute jeans with a fave top and booties. 🙂 If it ain’t broke, right? 😉
