Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer Holiday 2015 Travel Exclusive three-piece set

I miss the days when El Hub and I would go to Oahu to visit our family over Thanksgiving. His parents lived there (El Hub was born and raised in Hawaii), but now they live here in California.

So we’d visit every year, and oh! — the stories I could tell you about duty-free shopping. I can’t even remember how many times we’d be at the airport and I’d disappear into a duty-free shop while we waited for our flight.

El Hub would come running into the store, his eyes wide with panic, and say, “Sweetie! The flight is boarding NOW! Please put down the makeup!”

I always got a big kick out of it, but he was not amused, let me tell you. 🙂

We won’t be heading to the islands for Thanksgiving this year, but if you plan to do any air traveling, keep your eyes peeled for the Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer Holiday 2015 Travel Exclusive three-piece set, because the three lipsticks in it are beyond great superstars from the Clinique line.

These creamy, comfy Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer lipsticks are full coverage and have a primer incorporated in the formula that makes them nice and long lasting. There are a few of them in my regular lipstick rotation, and the bright reds and hot pinks last around five or six hours, while the neutral browns and rosy shades last around four or five.

Regularly, they’re $18 each, but I’d compare them to the $51 Guerlain $51 Rouge Gs, which I LOVE. The Pop Lip Color + Primers look and feel similar and last a comparably long time. They don’t, however, have Guerlain’s strong rosy scent, so they might be a better option for you. Clinique usually steers clear of flavor in their lip products, and true to form, these are unflavored, too.

This particular travel kit comes with three full-size Pop Lips in creamy pink Sweet Pop, pearlescent rosy brown Bare Pop and bright red Cherry Pop. As I mentioned, these are normally $18 each at Clinique counters, so assuming the kind of price break normally seen on travel exclusives (which is why I can usually be found creepin’ at the duty free-store when I’m at an airport, LOL!), they should be a pretty good deal.

Prices vary widely on travel exclusives depending on where in the world they are, but I’d guess that one like this would go for around $30-35 at airports and duty-free shops in the U.S.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

For UK readers – there’s a mini Cherry pop or Nude pop (not bare) with December’s issue of Glamour magazine. Bargain at £2!

Thanks for the heads up, Asma!

Do you have a fave Pop color, by the way?

I managed to pick up the nude pop but I’m yet to try it. Just added it to the others in my untouched collection ?

My problem with clinique lipsticks is that all the dark colors are warm toned and make my teeth look yellow! EEK!

Hmm, how about trying a mid-tone shade with a cool undertone, then?

Yay! You can gift her with one of the lipsticks maybe, as a thank you for picking it up. 🙂

I love this formula. I have four four of these – among which Bare Pop – and I wear them all a lot. I’d say it’s definitely worth picking up this set for those who have yet to try the Clinique Pop lippies!

I definitely like the look of Bare Pop (even though the name is making me think of Papa Bear from Goldilocks). I wore Black Honey today because, of course I did. I haven’t tried a Pop but they sound great!

The berry pop has been my go to shade for the fall and winter!! I’ve been experimenting with the cola pop, sometimes I feel like there’s too much brown in it, and other times I’m in love. Passion pop is also such a beautiful shade if you want a deeper red than the cherry pop! I’ve made mine last even longer buy using a clear lip liner all over my lips, it really grabs the color and keeps it there for hours on end, even through constant snacking and drinking out of my water bottle!!!
