Oh, Baby! Welcome the Benefit Dandelion and Hoola Minis to the Family

March 31st, 2016 by Jessica Revitte 19 Comments

Benefit Dandelion

Babies are so wonderful.

They’re the reason I’m here writing this post for you (thank you, Connor Claire!), and they’re the reason that my house is an insane but joyful mess.

Also, when you’re a makeup lover, they’re often the reason you might have yourself a little splurge from time to time, or, seize the opportunity to try a mini version of a normally expensive product at a fraction of full price!

Of course, now I’m not talking about the same kind of babies. Now I’m talking about baby-sized makeup, in all its glorious adorableness, and I know I can’t be the only one inexplicably drawn to “mini” makeup.

If you, like me, can’t get enough of terrific things that are tiny, the new spring 2016 Benefit Hoola and Benefit Dandelion minis are for you (and me!).

Benefit’s much-loved regular-sized 0.28 oz. $29 Hoola and Dandelion boxed powders have been around as long as I’ve loved makeup (years), and now these new smaller 0.12 oz. minis, which sell for $15, make it even easier to get to know this classic bronzer and rosy pink powder without committing to the full size. Or, if you already have a full-size Hoola or Dandelion, now you can add smaller emergency sizes too.

Favorite thing about these is that Benefit didn’t change a thing about them other than their size, because a lot of the time with mini products, there’s something important missing, like a mirror that comes with the full-size version or a magnetized closure, but Benefit must have just pulled out their shrink ray. These have a mirror, a sturdy box, and they snap shut. The brand even went so far as to include teeny, tiny applicator brushes (not shown).

I’m all about baby-sized anythings, and as someone who bought Dandelion when she was almost a baby herself — I’m talking 15 — it was one of the very first pieces of makeup I started wearing regularly. It’s nice to have that shy rosy pink in my collection again.

Of course, the packaging has changed considerably since I first started wearing Dandelion, but I guarantee you that I would have gravitated to a mini version even then.

Do you have Benefit Hoola or Dandelion in your collection?

And do you have any baby-sized beauty products? If you do, what’s your fave?

Icequeen! This is off topic from the post, but how’s your pregnancy going?

    Hi Karen,
My pregnancy is going well, I am six months now and the baby is doing fine .Today I felt him for the first time .
I am eating normal portions like I always did, and drinking more water than ever.
Sometimes the rush to go the bathroom can be discomforting, mostly by sneezing or coughing. But overall happy.
How is Connor doing? Does Tabs acknowledge her? Mine pups smelled and licked my belly for the first time this week out of nowhere.

I’m glad to hear that you and the little one are doing well. That’s so exciting that you felt him for the first time! Did he kick very hard? Just wait until the kicks get more frequent. 🙂

Connor Claire is doing great. She’s getting bigger every day, and she’ll be one month old on April 2. The time goes by SO fast! Right now she’s going through a phase where she cries a LOT at night so it’s been quite the challenge, so both El Hub and I are extremely sleep deprived. I’ve been told that this phase usually peaks between weeks 4-6, so I’m hoping that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Tabs is funny about the baby. He’s mostly disinterested in her, LOL! He’ll check her out if she’s close by but for the most part he’s kind of like, “Eh!”. Hopefully later on down the line when she’s more interactive the two can be friends.

Are you still teaching, or are you taking time off from your job?

I have a full size Dandelion, but don’t have Hoola. Dandelion is such a nice, easy color for my fair skin.

So you can totally justify a mini. 🙂

Hi Joyce, I’ve seen them elsewhere too! (They even popped up in my Birchbox feed) so I’m thinking you should be able to find them more widely. 🙂

Yeah… miniature packaging has definitely influenced me in more than a couple of my purchases. lol

I’m sure there is an explanation for why I can’t get enough of mini packaging, but it sometimes drives me to the point of being illogical. 🙂

I almost, almost bought one of these the other day and now I definitely regret it! I’m happy that brands are coming out with smaller, less expensive versions like this, it makes me so much more likely to buy them all 😀

I love these because they’re way more affordable, but if you have a pretty wide variety of makeup (*cough* me *cough*) then it’s a bit easier to justify getting something new.

My babies make me splurge on makeup either by feeling the need for a treat or, regarding the toddler, destroying what I already have…

Oh yes, I TOTALLY know what you’re talking about. My seven year old girl thinks that she’s twenty and likes to try to sneak into my makeup (I seriously caught her when I was doing laundry once), and my baby boy sees tubes of lipstick thinks “shiny!” and then chews on it. There are teeth marks on my YSL tube. Teeth marks!

I have several bitten lipsticks as well, and learned the hard way that Bioderma is the best way to remove NYX eye pencil in Black from the floor. It has serious staying power there…

Seriously! Minis are SO cute! I have this irrational love fpr all things travel size even if they do not make sense price wise! 😀
