Use Double-Duty Products to Get Your Busy Booty out the Door Faster

If you’re at all like me, most days you don’t even have time to find matching socks and brush your hair, let alone put on makeup, before rushing out the door. Luckily, I have a trick that may help out a little. Several of the products that you probably use when you DO have time to wear makeup can be used for more than one purpose, so they can help you cut down on the time it takes to get ready. Let me show ya!

Concealer/Eye Primer

Concealer is one of those magic products that I always keep close by because it can be used for so many different things. In this case, I’m using it to conceal underneath my eyes and to prime my eyelids for eyeshadow. To cut down on time even further, you can even use it to conceal problem areas instead of using foundation.

One of my favorites at the moment is Revlon Colorstay Concealer.

use your concealer as eye primer

When using concealer as an eye primer, make sure you only use a tiny amount, and blend it in really well. If you glob it on, that’ll make your shadows crease and move around, and that’s not what you want! Not only is the concealer going to make your shadows look more vibrant and last longer, but it will help to even out any little veins that you have peeking through your lids.

Contour Kit/Eyeshadow

This is a trick I like to use even when I’m not in a hurry, and it’s also great for travel.

The powders in contour kits are perfect shades to use on your eyes, and I like the Anastasia Contour Kit. Just throw one of the contour shades in the crease and the highlight shade on your lid, and you’re good to go!

Lipstick/Blush

Lipstick is basically formulated the same way a cream blush is, so it’s perfect to use on both your lips and your cheeks. MAC Cream Cup is a perfect choice. It’s a nude-y pink color that looks good on just about any skin tone. Just tap a small amount on the apples of your cheeks and blend in.

Hopefully these tips can help you get out the door a little faster and not be so late to everything like I am. 🙂 Do you have any double-duty products that you like to use when you’re in a hurry?

Hi, beautiful! I’m Jen from Jen Leigh Beauty. Now, rather than just talking to myself about makeup, I write it down in a blog. Besides being madly in love with anything I can smear on my face (and sharing pics on Instagram), I’m more in love with my hunky husband, my sweet 2-year-old, and my fluffy fur baby. Thank goodness they put up with the madness, because I love chatting about my favorite things with people who understand the addiction.

Never tried using concealer as eye primer before :-O But I have used face products as eyeshadow in the past and lipstick as blush.

One of my favourite double duty products is Benefit Dallas on my eyes. It’s such a lovely colour that I like to use in my crease. I pretty much use concealer on my lids everyday but I think it’s more out of lazyness

I have been using lipstick for blush since I was a kid. Poorness is the mother of invention!

I love these ideas 😀 quick makeup is the best!
I use concealer as primer too (used lightly it works as a great primer for lips, as well as eyes!) but I always forget about the lipstick as blush idea 🙂
My personal tip is using a subtle eyeliner (I like Kevyn Aucoin’s brown Primatif pencil liner) to fill in brows as well as my waterline, and also using a dab of clear lip gloss or balm to remove any eyeliner mistakes I make on the bumpy bus ride 🙂
I also keep coconut oil in an old lip balm pot for dealing with stray or frizzy hair (especially after it rains!), for moisturising my lips/cuticles/skin when needed, and even for removing makeup in a pinch. It’s so handy!

I hadn’t considered using a contouring palette for eyeshadow! Love it.
I’ll often use blush to brighten my eyes – after I apply blush to one cheek, I’ll use the residual powder on my brush and swipe over my eye socket and underneath my eye, to add a bit of warmth & blend things. Then repeat on the other side. Easier with powders than with creams, obviously 🙂

My mom always uses foundation or concealer as eye primer. My lids are too oily to get away with that, even if I powder over them before applying the shadows. She always uses lipstick as blush, too, and I’ve done that.

The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette has been a great multi-tasker for me. Besides being able to do my eyes, I can use Venus as a face highlighter, Naked2 as a contour powder, Faint on my brows, and Crave as an eyeliner.

I’ve often used concealer as eyeshadow base, and blushes as eyeshadows!

I use my bronzer as eyeshadow/transition color and my concealer as matte highlight. I sometimes use my cream blush on my lips as well, but it is a little drying, so I might try the lipstick on my cheeks version instead.
