I Dream of Raspberry Iced Tea with Lacoste Dream of Pink

March 25th, 2008 by Karen 29 Comments

It’s Spring Fragrance Quest at Makeup and Beauty Blog!

Before reading I Dream of Raspberry Iced Tea with Lacoste Dream of Pink, check out a couple past installments…

  • Spring Fragrance Quest, Part I: Bath and Body Works Enchanted Orchid
  • Guess by Marciano Perfume: For the Maneater in You
  • Elizabeth Arden Mediterranean Breeze Perfume: Fresh, Citrus and Floral
  • Michael Kors’ Capri Perfume Is Paradise in a Bottle

I Dream of Raspberry Iced Tea with Lacoste Dream of Pink

I love raspberry iced tea. I do, but when it comes to perfumes, raspberry is a tough scent to get right. Berry infused or inspired fragrance have a tendency to go overboard with the sweet berry notes. When it comes to berry perfumes, there’s a fine line between just right and fragrance headache.

So, I wondered, would Lacoste’s new Dream of Pink get it right? Or would it be just another Strawberry Shortcake doll wrapped in sheep’s clothing?

I admit to having anti-berry bias. After spritzing Lacoste’s red berry-infused Dream of Pink ($52) on my wrist the other day, I had a bottle of Ibuprofen ready to help with the headache I was sure it would cause. Oh, but I was wrong. No headache. Instead, I was met with a nice surprise — the natural, subtle scent of raspberry iced tea!

lacoste-dream-of-pink.jpg

Lacoste’s Dream of Pink is an updated version of one of their standby fragrances, Touch of Pink. Released in February, Dream of Pink falls into what I’d characterize as the fruity floral fragrance (say that fast five times) category. Lacoste claims that in addition to red berry, Dream of Pink contains notes of sandalwood, musk, lotus flower, tea and rose.

The tea notes really stood out to me, but I liked that because it worked to tone down the berry sweetness. This morning, I spritzed a bit on my neck and wrists. Mmm! Raspberry iced tea.

As is the case with most perfumes, the fragrance smells completely different sprayed into the air or on paper than it smells sprayed onto my skin. Everywhere but on my skin, the tea scent is less evident, and the berry, rose and musk notes have an almost sporty edge to them that reminds me of Lacoste’s clothing. Think cute tennis outfits, LOL — sporty, yet feminine and just a lil’ flirty. Too bad it doesn’t translate onto my skin.

While I like Dream of Pink and find it novel and fun to smell like a refreshing drink, it’s not something I’d wear every day. Smelling like tea 24/7 would get old, so Dream of Pink is going to be an occasional spring fragrance for me. My search for *the one* spring scent continues!

One 1.6 fl oz bottle of Dream of Pink Eau de Toilette Spray runs $52, available for purchase at Lacoste boutiques nationwide.

For the past two days I’ve been listening to old school Whitney Houston and girrrrl, that woman had some pipes! Witness her skills in How Will I Know? Warning: you will rock out upon hearing this.

I love a good comeback story, and Whitney needs one ASAP! Come on, Whit! Record some new music and then release a celeb fragrance. Show us you’re a fighter, girlfriend!

This morning, besides rocking out to Whitney Houston classics, I’ve been slamming coffee and answering e-mails. Is your day off to a good start?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Yum, good description Karen, I can’t wait to hunt this fragrance down and try it. Sounds like just smelling it will put someone in the summer kinda good mood. I love my citrus scents but when someone gets a floral one down just right I fall in love so I hope this is one of those.
Glad your morning is off to a good start, I’m running on 2 hours of sleep blah!

Oh geez I forgot to say “hell to the YEAH” on Whitney’s comeback, she needs to get on that already! I can not wait – did you hear that George Michael is doing a final big tour? Soooo excited!!! Do you love him?!

Yum – I love raspberry iced tea. I got a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea maker a few months ago and it gets a ton of use in our house. I use green tea bags in it (for extra anitoxidants and it’s supposed to boost your metabolism) and some raspberry syrup.

I’ve been on the search for a good summery scent and am yet to find one that I love, although Bvlagri Omni Amethyste and Angel Lily by Thierry Mugler are my two top picks so far. Still looking, though.

Hmm, raspberry. Too bad I just got the new Chloé perfume while I was in Paris with my mum.
And my money will go to other things *cough*MAC*cough*

My day was very tiring but nice. My kids did well 🙂

I just don’t know if I can get down with smelling like tea all day. You’re right, it’s a novel scent and once in a while would be totally fun 🙂

And thanks for Whitney today! I almost forgot how wonderful she is (was?) – the first cassette tapes I owned as a young lass was her “Whitney” album.. I Wanna Dance With Somebody!! That and Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation – woo hoo for 80s pop!!

I really liked this one, actually. I got it several months ago, and I could not find a TRACE! of info on it, so it’s good to see your review on it.

Yeah, Whitney can really sing. I’m waiting for her comeback album too. I remember my friends and I used to sing “Saving all my love for you” when we were in middle school (I was a bit late in the scene). And that song “Greatest love of all” is so good too!

Btw, did you watch Britney on “How I met your mother” last night? It seems like the good old Britney is back.

Ooh, another olfactory goodie to sniff! It sounds enticing! Actually, when I smell Guerlain Champs-Elysees, it always makes me think of the color pink for some reason! 🙂

    Hi Breezy,

Girl, why are you running on two hours of sleep? You know that’s a recipe for crazy. 🙂

LOL, I read about George’s tour. I think the nearest he’s going to be to me is San Diego. I had the “Faith” TAPE (yes, girl, the TAPE) in 7th grade and played the heck out of it! Are you going?

    Hi Turpnut,

You know I loves me some appliances! Sounds like I need a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea maker for this summer! 🙂

I saw a few pics of the the new Bulgari scents on the Nordie’s site the other day! Gotta put those on the “too smell” list!

    How’s your Tuesday so far?

Oh that’s great to hear! I’m glad they did well. 🙂 For some reason I can’t always find Chloe ’round my way. What’s the new scent called?

    Hi Lilan,

Whitney rocks the effing house! It’s been a while since I’ve listened to her music and it just really hit me how amazing her voice is. If Mariah can make a comeback from the brink of crazy, Whitney can too (so I hope!).

    Hi Dao,

I saw bits of it on Yahoo this morning. When I look at her I still see the Britney that I liked so much and not the crazy person she’s portrayed as in the media. I really hope she gets the help and support that she needs!

Those are two great Whitney songs. Her voice Saving All My Love for you is so smooth, like silk!

    Hi Davina,

The performance sounds TOO CUTE! Did you guys have choreographed moves to dance to?

I wanted to wear my hair just like Whitney’s in this video, but had trouble with the bow part, ha ha ha.

Oh yah, me too! Right now I’m stuck in the office but I’d love to go for a nice long walk outside. Of course I’d have to heavily medicate myself with Zyrtec first, but hey, that’s cool!

Mmm… this sounds yummy. So I was thinking I would maintain and stick with the Ferragamo dream for spring…but I think I’m itching for something new. I’m crushing on Juicy Couture at the moment…which I think is nice for spring.

You know, it’s nice, but it’s a seasonal thing for me. I’ll always return to Dior Addict, I think. I just love that scent. I felt like this is a fun, flirty scent, but Addict is classic and perfect for going shopping OR to a party.

    Hi Christine,

Dior makes great scents that do double duty like that. I feel the same way about J’adore as you do about Addict. I’ve worn it on and off for seven years and I still love it.

oh god that was so not my plan but a friend of mine had to go to the ER in the middle of the night and I had to go stay with her 8 month old so that sucked.
Ooh I soo wanna go, isn’t there a concert in San Jose? I’m pretty sure I saw one. A friend of mine wants to go to Las Vegas to go see him, I’m gonna try to scrape up some money, I’m not as hardcore as you are with the tape though. Bet you could get a pretty penny with that now!!

    Hi Breezy,

Oh no! I hope your friend is okay and that everything is alright. You are good friend to go over and stay with her baby. She’s lucky to have you.

Yep, I was wrong, there is one in SJ. You should TOTALLY go to the one in Vegas! For some reason shows there are extra special. I saw Madonna in Las Vegas a few years ago and it was fab!

LOL, I have NO IDEA where that tape is. My old Honda had a tape player in it, so it may have been in there before I gave the car to my lil’ brother. I can’t imagine him bumping old school George Michael though.

Anyway, I hope you’re all caught up on your sleep!
