The Day in Beauty Vol. 23: I Love the ’90s and Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Whiskey

Wearing Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Whiskey

Good morning, glory! Rise and shine! 🙂

This is Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Whiskey ($26), a dark reddish brown with a satin finish, and it’s very much like something I would have worn back in the day while listening to the fabulous vocal stylings of Color Me Badd and Coolio.

YEAH! I’m headed to an I Love the ’90s concert tonight, so I’m wearing a ’90s-style lipstick this morning to get in the spirit.

Both Color Me Badd and Coolio are performing at the concert, along with (wait for it!) Vanilla Ice (OMG), Tone Loc, Rob Base and Young MC.

The concert is in the town of Jackson, California, east of Sacramanto — HELLOOOO, JACKSON! — so if you’re out that way, wassup? I’ll be in your neck of the woods tonight!

Anyway, that’s my big adventure this weekend.

Bite Beauty Sweet & Savory Collection

Whiskey, by the way, is from the Bite Beauty Sweet and Savory Collection of six Amuse Bouche Lipsticks that came out last spring, but there are more than 40 Amuse Bouche Lipsticks total in the Bite Beauty line, so it’s very extensive (they’re $26 each).

The Amuse Bouche Lipsticks made a big splash last spring when they arrived on counters. They’re bold, lightweight and creamy with an uber-hydrating formula (each lippie contains 12 edible oils), and they’re absolutely lovely.

The six Sweet and Savory Collection colors are very out-of-the-box, so if you’d ever rock dark green lipstick to Petco, for instance, then you might wanna get on that if you haven’t already. They’re limited edition.

I hope your Saturday/Caturday got off to a spectacular start! What are you up to right now?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

      Hi Jules,

I think Taro and Lavender Jam are LE. Glad you like Kale! It’s such a cool color.

      Happy Saturday!

Those colors are definitely not for me, but the quality looks great!

Speaking of the ’90s…Whiskey reminds me of the old NBC show “The Pretender”, which aired in the late ’90s. It looks like a shade that the one character, Miss Parker, would wear. (I was a bit too young when it was originally on, so I watched it on DVD. Great binge-watching.)

      Hi TrippyPixie,

I didn’t watch that show, but yeah, the color is so classic ’90s. I randomly saw a Guns ‘n’ Roses video with Stephanie Seymore the other day and she was rocking a similar lip. 🙂

Anywho, I hope you’re having a great Saturday so far. What are you up to this weekend?

I brought Whiskey last week and love it! Even though it’s more of a fall/winter color I’m rocking it now! So different from any of the brown lipsticks in my collection. I love Bite lipsticks! Have fun at the concert!!

    This is definitely 90s!

This morning started off with a family reunion brunch, got to see a lot of my awesome cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. After that, I went to a cafe with some of my family, and came home and watched America’s Got Talent with my husband.

I’m currently getting ready to go work the door at my friend’s burlesque show, which I’m taking as an excuse to get dolled up. I have my makeup done (including successful application of falsies, Ardell Demi Wispies), except for lips. I have one of the Sephora lip masks (shea butter) on my lips to prep for coral-y red lips. I’ll be wearing a kind of retro black and white polka dot halter dress from ModCloth.

Fingernails are bare, toes are Essie Gel Couture in Turn ‘n’ pose, a dark plum.

This is such a surprisingly wearable brown! I think it’s the rich redness in it. I’ll consider picking this up come fall for sure!

I just discovered Bite Beauty lipsticks this week! My lips are plump with lots of ridges in them and I always have a heck of a time finding lipsticks that cover without getting stuck in the cracks. I bought the Cayenne color and it is amazing!! I can’t recommend this line more!

BTW: I went to that 90’s concert in Austin back in Feb and it was so much fun! AND last night, I went to part 2 of the 90’s concert featuring Color Me Badd, Sir Mix a Lot, and En Vogue to name a few. It was amazing! Hope you had fun!!

I am a lot braver with my lip colours these days, so maybe I will wear those blue shades one day, too 🙂
And I like how Whiskey looks on you.

Karen, that shade looks amazeballs on you! Something about my skintone (a lighter olive, less tan and more sallow) won’t allow me to wear brown lipstick. I look at photos of myself from the ’90s looking corpselike with brown lips and I shudder out loud!

Also – random question, but where is your shirt from!? It’s so cute!!!
