Philosophy Unconditional Love Firming Body Lotion: When Blackberries, Britney Spears and Bomb-Arse Hydration Collide

Dagnabbit, Philosophy! It’s bad enough you got me addicted to your yummilicious shower gels and Purity Made Simple cleanser, but you couldn’t stop there, could you? No, you had to release Unconditional Love Firming Body Emulsion lotion ($34), too?

Some nerve!

You made it with moisturizing olive and macadamia nut oils, shea butter and vitamins E and C, yet it hydrates without leaving a nasty, greasy film. My lizard-skin legs and crusty heels didn’t stand a chance.

To make matters worse, you had to make it smell incredible, didn’t you?

I can’t remember another blackberry-scented product I’ve liked as much as this one. It smells authentic to me, like actual ripe berries, and the fragrance, like the lotion’s moisturizing effect, lasts on my skin for hours.

The scent reminds me of Midnight Fantasy by Britney Spears (don’t hate, it actually smells hella good!).

At least you didn’t make Unconditional Love Firming Body Emulsion cheap ($34 for a 16-oz bottle). That would have been too much to bear…

Philosophy Unconditional Love Perfumed Firming Body Emulsion

Price: $34 for a 16-oz bottle
Use: A fragrant, intensely hydrating body lotion
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

You might like Philosophy Unconditional Love Perfumed Firming Body Emulsion if…

  1. …you have dry skin and an extra $34,
  2. …you’re a Philosophy skin care fan,
  3. …you’re a fan of blackberries.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Is it firming at all, like the name says? Or is it too early in the testing process to tell??? Thanks!

    Hi Erin,

I can’t really tell. I don’t notice a difference in tightening or anything… just crazy good hydration.

      Hi Nessa,

Me too. 🙂 It smells yummy without being too food-ish. I hope you give it a sniff!

mmm… yummy. the only problem would be that im sensitive to strong scents (migraines are the devil)

btw, i loved the little high heeled shoe video. i didn’t know that foot petals existed and those moleskins sound wonderful. being 5ft 1″ myself, i definitely have a love of high heels as well!

      Hi H.,

I’m pretty sensitive to strong scents, too, and this one isn’t too overwhelming. In general I like how Philosophy handles their scents. They never smell artificial or stuffy.

Glad you liked the shoe vid! Moleskin will change your life, girl!

I loooove Philosophy products, their super yummy smelling shower gels were already too hard to resist, what more this!?! And I can’t forget the fact that Hubby loves “berry” smells 😉 It’s kind of weird/funny, I like smelling like a cupcake or coconuts, but he’d rather have me smelling like an actual fruit and maybe white tea.

Hmm… Does your hubby have a say on the “smells” in the products you use?

      Hi Lesley,

Partly. I don’t always trust his sense of smell because his nose has been broken a bunch of times from martial arts and it’s not the keenest of his senses, LOL!

The only thing he’s been moved by is Origins Ginger, go figure. 🙂

I can’t wait to give this a try! I love Philosophy fragrances. They smell more natural than b&bw products do to me.

Now watch me hate it lol! Jinx!

Oooh, I love blackberries. Have you ever tried the Lush body butter You Snap the Whip (at least I think that’s what it’s called…)? It looks like a lump of coal but it smells absolutely gorgeous. I wanna try this too 🙂

      Hi Elle,

I haven’t. There’s a Lush store in SF and I’ve only been in there once — my nose gets overwhelmed by the scents in there.

I do like the fact that it looks like a lump of coal though, LOL! That just might be all the motivation I need to go back.

Mmm, Blackberries and Philosophy, two of my favorite things! But even though price tag is a bit steep, at least you get a fair amount of lotion. It seems like when it comes to some of them as the bottle gets smaller the price gets higher. :/

      Hi Scifi,

I noticed that, too. It gives me great motivation to buy more, ha!

I tried this lotion today and it smells reeeally good 🙂 I can’t stop sniffing my arm! Does the spray smell as good as the lotion? (you know sometimes they vary a little)…

      Hi Stacey,

I think a lil’ bit more vanilla comes through on the spray, but they smell very similar. 🙂

Oooo, I’m all over that! I really like the lotion, and I think if the spray has a hint more vanilla it will be awesome!
