Who Makes the Best Jeans?

December 2nd, 2016 by Karen 41 Comments

who makes best jeans

I’m asking you this for selfish reasons, clearly, because I need to buy some new jeans.

I have a couple pairs that I really like now, but they’re starting to fall apart, so I’m looking for at least one replacement.

I LOVE my jeans from Loft. I like that they have them in different lengths, so you can get them in regular, petite and sometimes longer sizes, and they have a good amount of stretch, which is nice, so you know that if you have a little extra popcorn at the movies that day, you can STILL breathe.

They don’t stretch out so much, though, that the butt area is sagging by the end of the day.

And they aren’t too expensive (around $69 a pair), especially if you can get them on sale (they’re 40% off right meow!). They also have all kinds of different washes and styles, and the styles they usually have are, like, a little bit trendy, but not so super duper trendy that they’ll be out of style in a year or two.

So I like my Loft jeans, but I’m open to suggestions! If you happen to have a great pair of jeans, please let me know. My closet and I need the help.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. TGIF!

Karen, try Topshop jeans!!!! You can find them at Nordstrom and since I am only 5 “0” they run perfectly and the jeans hit just at the ankle. I find a hard time getting jeans that are not too long. You can try the leighs( mid-rise) or jamie (High rise). I think you might like them. They run about $65-70.

I like Levi leggings. Stretchy, form fitting. But they make some different cuts. Check them out. Penneys carries a good selection.

Check out Uniqlo! I don’t use any other brand of jeans since I tried them for the first time 3 years ago. It’s a Japanese brand that I first heard about in the Philippines a while back. They’ve made it to the American market and are seriously most comfy jeans with stretch! I am so content with them that I don’t even feel the need to search for another brand of jeans!

I love their legging pants (almost like dress pants combined with leggings). Such a great fit (and only $29 or $19 when on sale).

Oooh, I’m a Uniqlo girl too. They do free hemming in the stores too, if you have time to wait or can come back and pick them up. The Ultra Stretch jeans have a 50% stretch rate and 90% rebound rate, and are available in different washes too. I actually have two pairs coming in the mail as we speak!

American Eagle. I’ve been wearing them for years and the jeggings are super comfy and very flattering.

I’ll second that, I have pairs of jeans from American Eagle from years ago, and they’re still in great shape! They come in short and long and different washes and cuts and varying levels of distress, so like you said, Karen, trendy but not too trendy!
I also really appreciate that they assign even numbers to their sizes, instead of odd… not sure why, but for whatever reason it always seems like 8’s and 10’s and 12’s fit better than 9’s, 11’s, and 13’s!

Currently in my closet: one bootcut pair from Old Navy (super comfy and excellent price), two bootcut pairs from J. Crew Factory (nice fit and I got them for a steal), and two skinny pairs from ModCloth in a style called Karaoke Songstress (one black, one dark blue). I don’t remember the last time I was so happy with all my jeans!

hmmm i love me some stretchy and comfy jeans, that have enough stretch to let u have extra pop corm but won’t fall off of you at the end of the day. here are some of my favorites:
#1old navy super skinny rockstar jeans – i have bought replacements for years now. i must have gone through atleast 8 -10 pairs now.

#2 banana republic skinny jeans these are just as comfy as the old navy but a little higher rise so i can wear them for work, and the leg is also skinny but not as skinny as the old navy so they are appropriate for work

#3 Gap skimmers – i just discovered them this year, but I have already bought replacements! fit if very flattering, they remind me of the old navy rockstar jeans but a little thicker material depending on the color your get. this may be a gap factory/gap outlet exclusive because i haven’t seen them in store, but you can order them online or checkout your nearest gap outlet to try out in store. there are stretchy, comfy and have a really skinny leg so they are great for flats, boots, pumps, whatever you want!

i will say loft jeans haven’t worked out for me, maybe i haven’t found the right style/fit. on me they are too boxy and look like mom jeans, so i ultimately gave mine away. and once i ordered a gorgeous pair online in my size, but they were too big and unfortunately final sale so i couldn’t return/exchange them. so sad. maybe one day i’ll find a loft jean that fits just right!

Love the brand Liverpool for jeans! I have a skinny pair and a bootcut dark wash. The skinny ones have a pull-up style (no zipper or button) and it’s a very comfortable fit. You can get them on Amazon.

Jeans shopping can be an ordeal, trying to find some that fit you well! If you have some that you’re happy with, I say stick with them! I’ve got tiny-hiney and twig-thin thighs, so my jeans fitting problems are epic, but the exact opposite of curvy-girl jeans-fitting problems. I’ve found a few styles that work pretty well on me, from Levis (great basic and boyfriend jeans), Charlie’s Jeans (wonderful colored jeans), Paige Denim (great for skinnies and boot cut), and NYDJ (good for dark wash dress jeans). Of course I need a different size from each brand — sometimes in different styles from the same brand!

I haven’t worn real jeans in ages because of my weird body shape – I’ve been doing dresses and the jeggings that aren’t really jeans at all. I carry weight in my lower waist and hips, but if I find jeans that fit that part of my body, they’re baggy through my thin legs. Even some more jean like jeggings are baggy on my calves and knees. So annoying! I should probably try buying jeans sometime, but it’s just not great for my self esteem!

I’m with you on the odd body shape making it hard to find pants. I mostly wear dresses and skirts and then in summer I wear leggings under them.
I haven’t even attempted to find jeans in a long time but I’ve just recently started trying on pants in stores again and so far I’ve found 2 awesome pair that have something in common. One is ponte and the other is very similar fabric!
Have you ever worn ponte pants? They are like somewhere in between thick leggings, jean leggings and dress pants. They are super slimming (as long as they fit right) have elastic waist/pull on. I’ve worn my Grey pair of ponte pants to death. Literally they are falling apart.
You can tell ponte pants by the fabric tag (usually reads something close to 70% viscose, 20% nylon, 10% elastine) and usually have a seam down the front of the leg. I’ve seen them mostly in black and dark Grey but I have a pair in burgundy too. Loft makes some, willi Smith, American eagle, old navy, torrid. I’ve found them at Marshall’s and TJ maxx.
They may seem too thick/stiff in site but once they’ve been worn and washed a bit they will become the comfiest thing ever. I highly recommend. Try googling ponte pants!

I used to love Gap jeans, but they keep messing with the cut and I don’t like them so much anymore. So I went back to Lucky Jeans and while I like them, I don’t like spending that much for something I’m gonna wear out. Although I did get a good pair of skinnies during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. During that same sale I bought some TopShop Jamie jeans and I must admit I love them. Even went back and got two pairs in black last month.
I have a couple of pairs of Lauren Ralph Lauren jeans (used to be available at Bloomingdales) that I like. A very classic, straight leg cut. Nothing trendy.
The jeans from the Loft look pretty good. I’ll have to give them a try. Not too many jean companies make jeans in petite lengths.
I’ve also tried jeans from J.Crew which I didn’t like. They gaped at the back of the waist and have teeny, tiny front pockets that don’t hold anything. You sit down and all your money falls out and forget about trying to carry your cell phone in your pocket.
I tried Not Your Daughter’s Jeans during the Nordstrom sale. But they’re so stretchy that by midday they’re sagging and falling off. Even if you get them in a petite size the rise is so high the waistband comes up over your belly button, by a mile.
I like my jeans to be 98% cotton, 2% lycra and heavyweight.
Good luck looking for jeans you like. I think jeans style and preference is very personal.

Old Navy! Their Rockstar and Rockstar Sculpt jeans (though more like jeggings) come in a ton of fun colors and are great “dressy” jeans. Their Boyfriend Skinny jeans are also super comfy (I once got a pair for $2.47 since it was missing a tag or something weird, but I would gladly pay full price for them). Also, Old Navy’s almost always having some sort of sale — I’m a little obsessed.

Mavi jeans! They are made of Turkish cotton and they are the softest most resilient jeans I have ever gotten. My husband who won’t spend money on luxury even bought another pair because they’re the only pair of jeans he wears.

I used to only wear American Eagle. But they wear down quick! I always get my jeans at Nordstrom or the Rack. I really like Joe’s and AG and Hudson (in that order). If you get lucky you can find them on clearance (because regular Nordstrom prices are crazy expensive) and the rack gets them at good prices. They are more expensive than American Eagle but so far mine have held up well.

The Denizen by Levi’s at Target jeans are cheap but I really like the one pair I have. They are pretty thick and they haven’t really faded! Really wallet friendly too!

I was going to say Loft, but you know that already.
As a former Manhattanite who did the $200 Jeans—I ask myself why? Because Loft Jeans at $40 on Sale are as good as the $200 Brand Name Jeans!

I’ve worn all types of jeans- high end, low end and in between. I also work with animals in the hot sun, rain, etc.. and wear jeans the entire time. The best jeans that I’ve found for fit, durability, and price are Old Navy, believe it or nor! The Rock Star Fit- and there are many different styles every season in the same fit. And there are always sales- I usually pay around $19 each. And they last for YEARS with daily wear. And my butt looks good!

Price high to low: 1) h&m 2) LOFT 3) Club Monaco “Sonica” denim. Wait until they are in the sale section online while also offering 30% off clearance. these are my absolute fave. 4) J brand. Amazing, soft, move with your body, doesn’t stretch out, but you’re looking at a $200 investment ?

I luuurve Old Navy jeans! I know that makes me sound super frumpy but they actually have some great styles. I like the “curvy” line, which runs from size 00-20. It has a smaller waist-hip ratio for people (like me) with a smaller waist compared to hips. I buy the bootcut and skinny leg styles. I also buy the boyfriend skinny jeans style (which don’t come in “curvy”). One thing I also love about Old Navy jeans is that they have a bunch of different inseam lengths, plus I find they last a long time compared to more expensive jeans (*cough* *cough* American Eagle)!

    Hi KAren,
Id like to rec that you check Maple St Denim in Oakland on 9th street.
Julie can and will fit all booty’s, Her denim is higher end but that shizz wont bag or sag, and she seems to stock the brands that are the most flattering and comfortable. James, Nudie and citizens.

She has a great selection of inexpensive bling too.

And maybe even better than great new booty flattering jeans is a perfect lunch at Cosecha. The best authentic mexican food, ever. The owner is a Chez Panisse alum, nuff said! Mole mondays. watermelon margaritas.

and the tie in can be the oakland zoo for lil GF.

I’m a huge east bay enabler, can you tell?
