Get Ready With Me: A Chanel Winter Makeup Look

November 23rd, 2016 by Karen 9 Comments

Hello, is this thing on? Yes? No? Yes? I think I see the red dot…

It was a little weird filming this video because…I haven’t put my makeup on in front of the camera in a long time, and I had to re-remember all of the little technical/secret squirrel details like to check your nostrils before you turn on the camera because of renegade boogers…

Hey, just keeping it real! 🙂

So, this is a Chanel winter makeup look — nothing too fancy, but a little fancier than I’d wear to just chill on the couch. I did silvery blue eyes with a soft dainty wing, pink cheeks and nude lips.

The video is totally informal, and I glossed over some parts. It’s not a tutorial, but if you have any questions about anything I did, hit me up in the comments.

Makeup I’m wearing in the video

  • NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
  • Benefit Browvo Conditioning Eyebrow Primer
  • Chanel Architectronic Eyeshadow Palette
  • Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons Bronzer in Brunettes
  • Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in 88 Noir Intense
  • Chanel Calligraphie de Chanel Longwear Intense Cream Eyeliner
  • Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Beige
  • NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealers in Macadamia (under eye) and Ginger (cheeks and chin)
  • NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder
  • MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Golden
  • Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Super Nude
  • Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Hyperfresh
  • On my nails I’m wearing Le Vernis Velvet Nail Colour in Pink Rubber

I used to feel that, especially if I’m going to sit in front of the camera for a video, I had to do everything in my makeup perfectly, but you know what? Life happens. This isn’t a perfect makeup look, but it’s realstic for me and what I wear now. I don’t have the patience anymore to layer three different shades of brown in the crease just to run errands around town. This is just a simple look that represents what I like right now, which is slightly polished makeup that isn’t too involved.

As always, thank you for watching, my friend! Talk to you soon. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

This was a fun video and a fun look! Love your little asides to Miss Connor Claire! Love the tips about rolling the undereye powder on and using less pressure when blending. I use waaay too much pressure when I write, paint, use crayons… I constantly broke crayons growing up. I’m betting I do the some thing with my eyeshadow!

    Happy Thanksgiving, Karen!
I really like this look – it’s very Chanel. I love how you layered the metallic grey on top of the satin/matte blue! It makes the grey look less metallic and more daytime-appropriate (not that you can’t wear metallic shadows during the day, but you know what I mean).

Hiiiiii Karen, hiiiii Connor! Fun to see a new Get Ready With Me video 🙂 And noooo, I’d totally wear Chanel to run errands. Heck, I’d wear Chanel to take out the trash, lol. I’m tempted to try the Stylo Yeux liner since you love it so much. I personally think you’re GREAT with the liner/wing! Yes, you do it in steps, but the result looks great.

P.S.: One of these days you’re gonna have to bring Connor in front of the camera for a make-up/chit chat video! 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family. You’ve just inspired me to experiment with using a silvery eyeshadow on top of a darker blue one. I’ve done something like that before recently. On top of MAC matte shadow Rule I dabbed on some shimmery BareMinerals Sugared Bronze. I love how your look was subtly done without trying to hard (after all you’re running to the grocery store ha ha). Thank you for the makeup tips! You always have great ideas!

Great look, Karen! I really do like the look of this eyeshadow palette 🙂 And the blush! Gorgeous! Does it lean cool, or is it slightly coral? What is your favorite cool-toned Chanel Joues Contraste blush? I would like to try the Stylo Yeux; lately I’ve gotten into the Marc Jacobs Fineliner pencils for my tightlining (usually I use a gel pot and a brush, but these work great). I hardly ever wear black eyeliner — it’s a little harsh for me. Celadon sounds really cool, like it would go with the olive green and the grey in my dark hazel eyes… Of course a bluish-grey is what would go with the eyeshadow palette… hmmm…

When you were priming your eyebrows, I thought of this: when I’m in a hurry, I prime everything with Hourglass Veil Mineral primer — face, brows, eyelids, eyelashes (OK, everything except lips — but maybe I need to try that, lol!). It’s not the strongest lid and lash primer in the world, but comes close to the performance of many dedicated, specialized primers. And it’s great in brows!

Just watched, it looks great! I wonder how that blush would look on someone as pale as me! It was so pigmented!
