I forgot where it was that I heard or read this (I think it was a meme), but what is it up with cats and storms? It’s like they love and hate them.
We’ve been having some stormy weather since last night with heavy rain and high winds, and on the one hand/paw, Tabs seems terrified when the rain is coming down in buckets, and the wind is howling and blowing water into the windows like a fire hose. On the other hand, he loves it.
He alternates between cowering under his cat tower, and staring outside from his window perch to get a better view.
As much as he seems afraid of the storm, he can’t resist wanting to be out there in it.
It’s like he craves the excitement, and he wants the storm to keep getting bigger and bigger. Even though it terrifies him!
Cats.
I had to straighten up some things on the deck this morning that the wind had blown around, and when I opened the screen door, Tabs bolted past me.
Of course, as soon as he got out there and got water on his delicate paws, he was like, “What the hell!?”
When it storms like this, I’m pretty sure he blames me for it, like the storm is somehow my fault. 🙂
Yup, cats.
He gets so fired up! I think it’s just because of the amount of movement, you know? Like the trees swaying and the water coming down and the loud noises? It drives his kitty senses wild.

Our cat was comfronted wth snow just yesterday, which is not very common where I live. He kept sitting at the very edge of it, occasionally dipping in a paw and then quickly running back indoors when the cold wet sentiment hit, only to repeat it a few minutes later.
Haha, I can actually relate to how Tabs feels about storms 🙂

The view from your place is beautiful! Nora Kitty just sort of slept through it all. Although I woke at 1am this morning with the wind howling and the sound of rain coming down in buckets and realized Nora was on top of me kneading.
She’s darted out the front door to see what it’s like outside. But the minute she hit the spot on the porch that isn’t covered, where it gets wet, she high tailed it back into the house.
It’s one of things I fell in love with when we moved here. If we ever move someplace else I’ll miss that view — especially the rainbows in the spring and the sunsets in the summer.
Silly Nora Kitty! Does she not like getting her paws wet? That’s what Tabs is a diva about.
