Have You Ever Burned Your Hair With a Curling Iron, Flat Iron or Other Heating Tool?

March 4th, 2017 by Karen 9 Comments

Nothing too serious, but I came close to disaster once. I was using a new T3 for the first time, back before I knew how hot that sucker could get, and while curling a chunk of hair on the back of my head, I got distracted by my phone…

I got sucked down a Facebook black hole and must have zoned out. Then I smelled something burning…

Crap! Oh, no! Thankfully, my hair was still intact, but the texture definitely felt fried and rough. On my next salon visit, my friend Alis immediately chopped off that chunk because it was basically about to shatter anyway.

How about you? Have you ever burned your hair with a curling iron or other heat-styling tool?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Rise and shine, morning glory!!! We made it! I hope you have a terrific caturday and a wonderful weekend. 🙂 Right now I’m in full-on Connor Claire b-day prep mode because the party starts at noon.

Tabs is responsible for the entertainment, of course, and setting up the photo booth… And he’s also the official party mixologist. Between now and noon, I need to finish the birthday lasagna (the sauce is ready, but I still need to actually make the lasagna, which I’ll start soon), have El Hub pick up some balloons from Party City, do an easy salad and some garlic bread, and my parents are bringing over lumpia and pancit, a Filipino noodle dish with long noodles that symbolize long life, which is why we always have it at birthdays.

My main concern now is that Tabs shows up to work on time, because, as you know, he can be a diva.

Not my hair, but my face and my fingers. I would never do my hair with Facebook present, I need all the concentration to prevent further damage.

Ahhh, so excited for her birthday celebration! I can’t believe she’s a year old. I remember seeing her in her little onesies. <3

Happy birthday to Miss Connor Claire! I’m jealous of her party… I want some lumpia and pancit!

I’ve never burned my hair, but I got a nasty curling iron burn on my forearm the first time I got to spend the night at a friend’s house when I was probably in 4th grade or so. I had a rectangular scar down the inside of my arm for a couple years, which served as a good warning/ reminder for me!

Happy Birthday to your little girl! 🙂
I haven’t, but my mom has and it took a year to get back to normal. A hairdresser burnt her hair actually. Needless to say we never went back.

No, but I was quite damn close to do a disaster… I was 14 and got a hot curling brush as graduation gift. I wasn’t able to properly use it as my hair is already wavy, so a big lock sticked all around the brush and I remember the panic when I realized I could’t unroll it!!!
    Terrible

Not really, but I’ve never owned a flat iron and rarely curl my hair because it doesn’t last anyway!

I just got back from my little cousin’s 16th birthday party! They had a photobooth, it was pretty fun. I got her an Ulta gift card since I was there getting a haircut anyway.

I have short hair and never owned a flat iron or curling iron, so no. But I noticed a mark on my daughter’s upper arm/shoulder and she said it was from her hair iron. Can’t remember if it was flat or curling.
It’s late now, so I really hope Connor’s party went well and that she enjoyed every minute of it. Hope Tabs showed up for work on time, too.

Not with a flat iron but definitely back in the day with a curling iron (along with my fingers, ears and face, countless times). I was thinking about that the other day when we were talking about the triangular curling iron. I had the one with the multiple wands (regular, spiral/corkscrew, triangular and square, I believe). It’s funny how I’m still such a fan of curl while children of the 90s always prefer straight. 🙂
