5 Botanically Based Bodacious Skin Care Products Worth Trying at Space NK

Plant-powered skin care!

There’s a bounty of botanical-based skin care products at Space NK meow, and here are five of my favorites at the moment.

1. Sunday Riley C.E.O. C + E antiOxidant Protect + Repair Moisturizer ($65)

This rich, mega-moisturizing anti-aging moisturizer has an oil-soluble version of vitamin C called tetrahexydecyl ascorbate (or THD ascorbate) that some researchers believe can penetrate skin better than old-fashioned vitamin C.

Vitamin C is notoriously fickle/unstable, but tetrahexydecyl ascorbate is stable and less irritating than other forms of vitamin C, making it suitable for peeps with sensitive skin, too.

Hurry, get the C.E.O.!

I just started using this, and my skin, which has been drier than usual, laps it up. Along with THD ascorbate, it contains an exfoliating botanical extract called lime seed pearl, commonly known as “finger lime.” It’s a plant, native to Australia, and it contain hundreds of tiny capsules of lime juice. They look like caviar.

2. Sunday Riley C.E.O. C + E Micro-Dissolve Cleansing Oil ($38)

This cleansing oil also has lime pearl, as well as THD ascorbate, white willow bark, turmeric and evening primrose. It makes quick work of my foundation, concealer, lipstick and blush, but it makes me tear up when it touches my water lines, so I have to grab something else to remove my eyeshadow, mascara and liner.

White willow bark contains salicin, which is the precursor to aspirin.

3. Kat Burki PH+ Enzyme Essence ($100)

This lightweight pH-balancing serum contains vitamin C, and it smells like the freshest, most delicious green smoothie!

Truthfully, the scent is a big reason why I started using it.

It’s designed to brighten skin, balance its pH, prevent breakouts and stimulate cell turnover. You use it after cleansing and toning but before applying moisturizer.

I just started using it, so I can’t tell how well it’s working yet, but here’s to high hopes!

4. Goldfaden MD Sun Visor Ultralight Oil-Free SPF 30 Mist ($45)

This lightweight sunscreen contains a combo of physical and chemical sunscreen ingredients. It also contains antioxidant red tea extract.

You’re supposed to mist it on your face after moisturizing, but I like to spritz a few sprays into my palm, then pat that on my face and neck, because I feel like everything gets covered better that way.

I like that I can’t feel this sitting on my skin, and it isn’t sticky.

I love using it on my neck, especially.

5. (MALIN+GOETZ) Grapefruit Face Cleanser ($34)

This foaming gel cleanser has grapefruit extract to prevent breakouts and cleanse skin without stripping it bone dry. It’s designed for all skin types, but it’s supposed to work really well for rosacea-prone peeps.

I use it at night after intensely sweaty sessions at the gym or on the treadmill because it really feels like it gets all the gunk out of my pores.

Karen

The Sunday Riley CEO products are on my to try list. I like many of her other stuff a lot, like the Ceramic Slip Cleanser.

How do the Sunday Riley CEO products smell? I’m curious about them, but reading the reviews some folks object to the scent of them. As someone who is really sensitive to scents it’s the one thing I’m fussy about when trying skincare and facial cosmetics.

      Hi Tatiana,

The face oil doesn’t have a scent (at least I can’t pick up on anything), and the moisturizer smells faintly of oranges. Are you cool with a heavier moisturizer? Because it’s real deal!

I like a heavier moisturizer over night. I’ll probably hit Sephora up for a sample. Hopefully, it won’t cause any pimples or spots. Some do, some don’t. Always a toss up.

I’m a big Sunday Riley fan! My favorite way to use CEO is right over UFO oil. Just a very tiny amount. The two work perfectly together!
