Chanel Horizon Line Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour, Available Now in the New Travel Diary Fall Collection

$28 Chanel Horizon Line Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour, available now in the new Chanel Travel Diary Fall Collection

I was born in the Philippines, but I’ve been a Cali girl since I was a wee lass of year one year old. In that time, I’ve traveled all across this state from top to bottom, from the mountains to the valleys and up and down the coast (This is starting to sound a little like a folk song, isn’t it?).

Anyway, when you spend a lot of time in a place, certain colors start to remind you of it, which is what Chanel Horizon Line Le Vernis does for me. My, gosh! It’s the exact same grayish green you see all over the beaches from the central coast/Big Sur up to the Oregon border.

I see it in the green algae- and seaweed-covered rocks, in the water, in the plants (especially the succulents that cover, like, every other sand dune). It’s everywhere! And it’s spot on.

Horizon Line is from the Chanel Travel Diary Fall Collection, which is out right meow, and my friends at Chanel HQ tell me that it was inspired by a road trip that Chanel Creative Director Lucia Pica took from Los Angeles to Big Sur. Like a mermaid from the ocean, Horizon Line emerged from that trip.

And I’m glad it did, because I’ve got a thing for greenish grays, man! (Hello, Essie Beauty Nap and Smith & Cult Bitter Buddhist.)

I’m a sucker for succulent grayish greens on fingers and toes. It’s like, they’re edgy, but they aren’t obnoxious… I don’t know if that makes any sense, LOL! I hope it does.

I love the Chanel Le Vernis formula!

Oh, yeah, and then you get the great Chanel Le Vernis formula, which, oh, my gosh, is even better than it was before Chanel converted it into a gel formula this past year.

It dries pretty quickly, for one (completely dry within an hour as long as you seal it with a gel top coat), and it lasts, too. I’m still testing Horizon Line for wear, but I’m on day three, and I haven’t seen a single chip. Based on the other Le Vernis shades I’ve worn recently, I expect to get at least six or seven full days before it starts to fall apart.

So it’s pretty sturdy, thank goodness, because it is pricey at $28 a bottle.

I’ve got more reviews of the Chanel Fall Collection coming soon, and it’s not just about the California vibe, which I’m stoked about. There are some gorgeous greens, blues and —
oh, my gosh! — a peppy poppy red lipstick that makes me want to prance in my living room.

There are also some lovely, wearable looks in these videos on the Chanel website, if you’re interested. They’re colorful, but still wearable enough for regular people like you and me.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love this colour, it’s gorgeous! And it looks like it would suit a range of skin tones too.

Ahh I’m in desperate need for a mani pedi, and this has made me want one even more! I don’t remember the last time I put polish on my nails.

GIRL. I feel you! I usually do my nails at home but ever since the baby came along it’s been a challenge. I have to put my hubs on baby duty for an hour so I can get the time to let the polish dry!

The color really is amazing, I can see me getting a lot of wear out of it when things start to cool down here. Which is probably in a few weeks time already…

Oh ma gosh! I stayed clear of the nail stuff, because I am nearly broke atm. 😛 But I am just *dying* to see your reviews of the rest of the collection! I got a bunch of things from it myself (hence being broke), and also swatched all the new lip shades. When I saw the pinky-coral one, I immediately thought of you haha! But that doesn’t seem to be the one you mention here. Shall have to contain my excitement and wait for the actual post. 😛

Oooh, the Rouge Allure Ink?! I wore that just yesterday! What did you pick up from the launch?

Omg! Yeah, the Allure Ink in Highway, can’t believe it! Yeah, that’s the one I meant. I saw it in the shop and though to myself – Yep, Karen will like this one! As for what I got, I ended up with both the City Lights and Road Movie eyeshadows, as well as the ‘Cruella’ brush as I call it (aka ‘Retractable dual-head face brush blush/highlighter’), plus the new concealing double-ended brush (‘Retractable dual-tip concealer brush’). No lip stuff for now – but I bet that won’t last long… I’ll probably go back for the Velvet one, in ‘Nightfall’. 😀
Not sure if you can see this link, but this is my Cruella brush right here, along with some stuff from Tanseido:

While I am not much of a grey or green nail enamel lover, I have seen the more traditional nail shades (I tend to go for rosy-pink or sheer pink) from Chanel and have wondered how good they are, especially at that price. I am also curious about Smith & Cult as I was browsing in the Blue Mercury store in town and saw them on display. What strange packaging! How are they in terms of staying power?

Back to Chanel, I am curious about the new Palette Essential. I was going to purchase the Les Beiges cream blush stick, but I decided to wait and see what the palettes look like. My friend at the Chanel counter said they are amazing. I can’t wait to hear your review and thoughts.

Zack is due home today. I kinda missed him these past few days.

    Be well!

      Hi Jane,

I like Chanel and Smith & Cult but I do think they both wear better with a base and top coat, for sure! It depends on the color but I get between 5-7 days (as long as I remember to do the base and top coat). The Smith & Cult caps look weird, but if you lift them off, inside you’ll find a regular black nail polish top. 🙂

I wore the new Palette Essential just the other day! I’m still working out my thoughts on it. But so far I like the creaminess and how they sit on the skin (looks very natural).

BTW I was at the Chanel counter yesterday and I swatched Undertone and was like OMG!!! No wonder Jane is obsessed with this color!

I’m just flat-out refusing to look at the Chanel link. 😉 This is a great color and it’s even better that it’s been inspired by one of my much anticipated road trips (except I want to do the reverse and start in SF). Does it really take an hour to dry completely? I’m so last minute that it would never work for me.

Gorgeous shade but I’d like a bit more blue in there to be sure that it’ll match my brown skin these days.
