On the list of things I never would have imagined could be combined in a semi-logical way: liquid liner and pizza.
Props to MAC for bringing together these two unlikely cohorts in their new Rollerwheel Liquid Liner.
That’s the way to think outside the (pizza) box, man!
Rollerwheel made a big splash backstage at Fashion Week a few months ago where it was dubbed “the pizza cutter liner” because of the little pizza cutter-shaped wheel-doohickey on the applicator.
It’s not out yet, but it’ll be available on the MAC website starting August 17th (it’s LE), and then in stores from September 14th through October 26th, 2017.
In theory…and sometimes in practice, the wheel draws thin, precious, precise continuous lines, but it’s been soooooo hit or miss for me. If there’s a secret to getting consistent results with it, I haven’t figured it out.
Sometimes with it I’ll get a continuous crisp line with a flawless cat flick at the end, but most of time the line looks ragged, and my wing juts out at a crazy angle.
I’ve tried it a bunch of times but haven’t figured it out yet. Oh, and maybe I’m just a weirdo (there’s no maybe about it), but that wheel also hella tickles! — especially in the inner corners.
Also odd: as the liquid liner dries, which takes about five minutes, it tightens up and feels like it’s pulling at my skin. It’s uncomfortable. My eyes start tearing, and I can’t wait to take it off.
It’ll be available in four shades when it arrives, and I’ve been testing two — the matte blue and the matte black. I don’t know if I have the patience to keep trying to figure out a method to the madness of properly using it. As of right meow…I like this pizza cutter more in theory than in practice.
Have you ever done a Spartan race before?
A few of the girls in my HIIT class have been trying to get me to do one with them. I’m not entirely sure, but I think it’s a team-based obstacle course with lots of dirt and mud involved.
I’m totally on board with the idea, except for the dirt and mud part, so I’m still thinking about it. I don’t like being completely covered in dirt when I exercise, man! I don’t mind sweating like a mofo, but once my socks get wet or my clothes get muddy, it’s over for my @ss.
I think it’s because of the year I ran the Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco during a downpour, and running those seven miles in squishy socks… Well, let’s just say that the race lost its charm.
Have you ever done a Spartan race? If you have, let me know how it was. I’m still thinking about it… It would be fun to get to know the peeps in my class better.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!

Oh, my. I have trouble with a regular liquid liner. There’s no chance for me with a roller wheel. 🙂
One of my friends has done a kazillion spartan races but he’s pretty hardcore. You have the gist. There are a ton of mud/water obstacles. I’m sure you’ve already checked but google images shows a lot of what to expect. It never appealed to me because of the dirt/mud – I feel the same way that you do. Also, I have no upper body strength. HAHA! I’m sure you’d have fun with your HIIT friends, though. 🙂

I feel like this would take a lot of practice to get used to using it. Casey Holmes reviewed this on YouTube and she also said it felt like it was tightening her eyelids! That can’t be a good feeling haha

This seems so gimmicky.

I agree, this does seem to be better in theory than in practice. The regular thin brush won’t press down on your eyeballs and you can maneuver it easier than a roller wheel.

I can appreciate that they were trying something new and that this might work for some people. But I don’t think it will work for the majority, myself included. I understand that they are trying to create an easier and more accurate way to apply liquid liner, but I think they need to go back to the drawing board. 😉 Kind of reminds me of those brow stamps… seems good in theory buuuut… nope! LOL.

Not sure that liner would work for me. I have a small patch with a double row of lashes on one eye, where they grow higher onto my lid. It’s hard enough dotting a pencil down under that row to get an even line. I couldn’t imagine how I’d do that with a wheel.
I just googled spartan race and saw an image of a girl completely covered in mud. Ugh! No way! I once did one of those color races where they toss the powdered pigments at the runners and I hated that, so I can’t imagine all the mud.

Do an inflatable 5k run instead!! A little water, but no mud and a lot of fun!!!

I did the Spartan sprint (the smallest of the 3 race types) at AT&T Park, so no dirt or mud. But, to make up for the lack of running space there were a ton of bleachers that were climbed resulting in cramped calves and quads later on. It helps to have team members for scaling some of the walls and cheering you on. It was fun in a masochistic kind of way, and if obstacle races are your thing I definitely recommend.

Pizza cutter ???!! Τhe things one sees in this life ?. Not for me anyway, I couldn’t do a wing and stinging isn’t fun, my eyes are very sensitive. I’ve done many spartan things as I have some spartan friends, but not a race!! Saying that, it should be quite hard core as they go. Should be fun to do if you’re fit :))

Ok, that’s just a little weird, haha. But, I’m game. I may try it… I don’t know. Just thinking about the concept it seems that it would be obvious this is a rather ineffective way to apply eyeliner!
Spartan Race! I have never done it, but I want to. I was supposed to do it in 2016 but I got pregnant. Yes, you get covered in mud. From. Head. To. Toe. And it’s tough. It’s not for the faint of heart (I also have friends who’ve done it). It’s a great challenge! But if you don’t like getting dirty, which is totally cool, look for another type of marathon challenge/obstacle race maybe? I’m sure there are other ones out there that don’t involved mud! I like color run / neon run … whoops, again, you’re getting dirty. But it’s with color not mud haha.

I’ve done a Spartan Sprint (5K). It was fun, but I had done a Tough Mudder the month before so I was well prepped for obstacles (if you do it, definitely do obstacle training). It is muddy. Crawl under barbed wire with your belly in the mud muddy. For me, the thrill of beating an obstacle was worth the mud.
Karen says
Oh goodness. I’ve never done obstacle training but I think I would like it. Don’t think I’d enjoy the mud though, ugh!
