Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Super Natural Concealer

New from Kevyn Aucoin: The Etherealist Super Natural Concealer ($30 each, available in 10 shades)

I’m having NARS déjà vu left and right! — first with Urban Decay Troublemaker mascara (which is just like NARS Audacious) and now with the new Kevyn Aucoin The Etherealist Super Natural Concealer.

It’s a new permanent collection line available in 10 shades for $30 each. One of the 10 shades is a peachy apricot color corrector for dark circles, and the other nine range from having peach to gold to beige undertones.

Swatches, babe!

They look, feel and photograph exactly like the NARS Pure Radiant Concealers do to me. Same fluffy mousse-like texture, same smooth consistency, same satin finish, and same high density of pigment per drop.

They’re also just as easy-peasy to blend, but grrr… I can’t get Etherealist to actually stay put under my eyes. It’s already starting to break up after an hour of wear, and I can see thin fissures where the product seemingly disappears around my fine lines.

Where the heck is it going…? Because I would like to send my worries and troubles to the same place, HA!

It’s a bummer, because I love the way it looks on my skin. I’ve tried tweaking it in different ways, like by playing with different setting powders and using different amounts of the product, but I haven’t been able to make it work.

Really, if you’re looking for a natural-looking under-eye concealer that won’t freakin’ budge, give MAC Matchmaster Concealer a try. It’s a few seasons old, but it works.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer is another exceptional one.

I like setting either one with the thinnest veil of NARS Translucent Crystal Powder.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

In my opinion always felt that Kevyn Aucoin’s skin colors run a bit peachy/orange. So I’ve never found a good color match. Still love the NARS concealer best.

I like how you’re doing the bare skin vs product pics. I think it’s really a great way to see how the products look. 🙂 I don’t know if you ever watched Arrested Development but that’s all I can think of when I read Etherealist (when Tobias combined Analyst and Therapist into a new title for himself).

Mmmm… doesn’t sound or look ideal! The new Bobbi Brown Concealer is my favourite one right now, although I like Mac Matchmaster too. And I’m very difficult with my undereye products, they just don’t stay put…

Thanks for the review and your opinions. Too bad, as they sounded promising and I’ve wanted to try a Kevyn Aucoin product and am on the lookout for a new concealer after mine ran out.
