MAC Jade Jagger Collection: A First Look

December 8th, 2017 by Karen 22 Comments

mac jade jagger
I’m wearing makeup from the new MAC Jade Jagger collection, coming to select MAC counters December 14th.

If your name is Jade and you become a jewelry designer, it’s kind of like destiny telling you, “HA! I told you so!”

British jewelry designer Jade Jagger, daughter of Bianca and Mick Jagger, a.k.a. daughter of rock royalty, has a limited edition MAC collaboration launching December 14th, and you guys…IT’S GORGEOUS.

Everything in the collection is from the MAC Mineralize family.

MAC Mineralize eyeshadows, face powder, blushes and lipsticks

There are three Mineralize Rich Lipsticks ($25 each), two Mineralize Eye Shadow X 4 quads ($46 each), a Mineralize Skinfinish powder ($33) and two Mineralize Blushes ($28 each), all with something called “Multi-Mineral Complex,” which is MAC-speak for “something that adds color to the face without looking heavy or powdery.”

Wearing the Burning Nights quad and Mineralize Skinfinish in Satin Shimmer (as a crease color) on my eyes. I’m also wearing Perfect Bronze Blush on my cheeks and Sunset Pearl Lipsticks on my lips.

First impressions

This is my first hands-on look at the collection. If you have any questions about it, let me know in the comments. I’ll do my best to help.

Some thoughts…

  • The satin finish Mineralize Eye Shadows are kind to fine lines. I’m shocked (in a good way) by how easily the shadows in the quad with teal Burning Nights blend and by how little fallout there is.

Actually, I don’t see any fallout, now that I think about it!

The shadows are a lot like shadows in the Chanel baked eyeshadow quads. They’re moderately pigmented, but not extremely pigmented. It’s just right for me because you can make a lot of application mistakes with them and don’t have to be perfect or perfectly precise.

  • I’m having a parched pout/bad lip day today, but you probably can’t tell by these pics, thanks to the Sunset Pearl Lipstick I’m wearing.

It’s just SO creamy and moisturizing. It feels like the Hourglass Girl Lip Stylos to me, which are also wonderful, BTW.

  • SWOON! Mineralize Skinfinish in Satin Shimmer is a rich, buttery golden brown mixed with a softly gleaming golden pearl. The brown doubles (triples?) as an eyeshadow, which is how I’m wearing it in this pic in my crease, and a bronzer.
  • I’ve only tried one of the two blushes. Glowing, lightweight-looking Perfect Bronze is a rose mixed with brown, and it doesn’t look obvious or heavy.

For another Hourglass comparison, I think these look a lot like the Ambient Strobe Blushes on the cheeks.

Fab finishes, friendly formulas and haute colors

Hello, Chanel and Hourglass! This is a luxe-inspired release that reminds me of those high-end brands. I’m loving the finishes and the colors and the way everything seamlessly sits on my skin.

The pieces are easy to blend and should play well with mature skin, too.

They’re coming to select MAC locations (so check your nearby counter) and the MAC website starting December 14th.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are really pretty colors! I like the Jungle Green shadow and Rolling Red lipstick.

      Hi Ruchita,

It’s a beautiful launch, right? Also (off-topic), thanks for the drugstore primer recommendation. I’m going to Target later today and will look for it, along with the cream shadow.

      Happy Friday!

Yay, I hope the products work for you! I noticed a little bit of creasing from the shadow yesterday, but that was around 12 hours of wear. It does pretty well with primer for the majority of the day.

Ya know, I don’t mind a little bit of creasing at all! That usually means the product won’t dry out my lids. 🙂

What are you and the kitties up to this weekend?

Ah good point! I do prefer something more creamy than dry.

The only plans I have are to get my haircut on Saturday and I have to work a little bit on Sunday. My sister-in-law is coming to stay with this for a few days next week so I need to tidy up the guest room. It’s sort of becoming the holding ground for random things in the house.

Do you have any plans? Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

LOL, everyone has a room like that in their home (for us it’s the hall closet). It’s like the “random kitchen junk drawer” of the house.

This weekend I have brunch with a friend tomorrow, which I’m looking forward to. I’m also going to try the cream shadow you recommended! Just got back from Target and they had it on sale, woo hoo.

Are you doing anything new with your hair?

Brunch is my favorite meal of the day. Have fun! Glad the shadow was in sale.

Just a trim for the hair tomorrow. I’ve been sticking with the same basic style for a while since it works for me. I’ve been getting it colored every other time to take care of some grays, but otherwise no major changes. TGIF!

You’re glowing in these pics *insert sunglasses emoji here*! Very nice. 🙂

The products all look lovely… But sometimes MAC just confuses me with its collaborations/collections. There are a few that I’m super happy about (Rocky Horror Picture Show? Hmm… YEAH!, Star Trek, etc.), but then they come up with these “collabs” featuring celebrities/muses/Idon’tevenknow, and I’m all question marks.
Admittedly, I know nothing about this girl, apart from what you just wrote here. Maybe MAC is just feeling like making collections inspired by jewelry designers as of late…

      Hi Glenda,

Thank you! This is one of my fave types of looks to do. Glow all day all the way, LOL!

Sometimes I don’t know who the collaborators are either. 🙂 Hey, it’s the chance to learn something new, right?

I hope you have a great Friday, and let me know if you have any other questions about the products form this line.

I don’t know how it’s possible but I forgot it was Friday until I read your post. Now I’m doubly happy. HAHA! There are some beautiful colors in this collection and Sunset Pearl looks particularly lovely. Have a great weekend! I hope you got that Check Engine light sorted out. I saw your note about that in an earlier post. I hope I didn’t jinx you with things breaking!

      Hi Kim,

Thank you! Happy Friday to you too. 🙂 Turns out that my tire pressure is low, THANK GOODNESS! Car issues always make me so nervous because I feel so out of control. I wish I knew more about vehicles. Hey, maybe I just found my next hobby…

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Do the boys have any sporting events coming up?

Wow, that Golden Shine quad really reminds me of a Chanel palette I used to have called Spices. I really loved the colours in that palette but it was discontinued some years ago, I might get this MAC one as a dupe.

      Hi Jane,

I remember Spices from the quads that had the square shaped pans! I think it might’ve been re-released in the new formula because they have a baked version on the site:

Satin Shimmer looks like it might be a good bronzer for me, and I’m drooling over the blushes! But when am I ever not drooling over blushes? 😀

Because Bianca Jagger is everything to me – I will have to check this out. I think I may love Jade by default because I loved the very short relationship of her parents (Bianca/Mick) in the 70’s – those photos give me inspiration when I need more glamour in my life! I am a fan of the Mineralize products but hate how fragile they are. I am clumsy by nature and dropped many a mineralize shadow in my day. Maybe this will teach me to take my time and be more careful with my products!

Have you ever tried the Mineralize foundation? I remember using it a long time ago and thinking it was OK… Maybe I need to revisit it!

I’m usually ho-hum about all the LE releases from MAC, but for some reason I’m a bit excited about this one. I like the color combos in the quads, although I can’t say I’ve ever used a mineralize shadow. I swore I wouldn’t buy any more shadow palettes, but man I really want Burning Lights. I love the mineralize lipstick formula so I will definitely be checking those out.
But can I just say Jade Jagger! I’m probably one of your few readers old enough to remember Mick and Bianca together.
