Awesome for $8: Physicians Formula The Healthy Lip Velvet Liquid Lipstick

Yeah, I’m still in my pajamas, but I’m in the comfort of my home, which leads me to two recent revelations…

1. Pajamas in public

It’s been ages since I’ve seen anyone, adult or teen, wearing pajamas in public, and to this I say HALLELUJAH.

2. I found a really lovely drugstore matte liquid lipstick

It’s an $8 one (technically, $7.95) by Physicians Formula called The Healthy Lip, and it’s… Honestly, I think it could rival the NARS liquid lipstick I love, love, LOVE to pieces.

I mean, it isn’t an *exact* dupe, so don’t grab your car keys and run to the door yet. 🙂 But it’s very similar. The NARS one is, like, probably the smoothest, most comfortable liquid lipstick I’ve ever tried, and if you have vertical lip lines like I do, it’s also one of those rare liquid lipsticks that hugs your lips and just looks very, very smooth. Plus, it’s completely opaque. One layer does the trick, and it also doesn’t suck the moisture from your lips.

The Healthy Lip is all of that and more because it’s eight bucks!

Unlike the NARS one, though, The Healthy Lip has a mousse-y formula, like most liquid lipsticks, meaning that it’s not completely runny, whereas the NARS one has an extremely thin, runny consistency — almost like you’re putting water on your lips, which can make it tougher to apply (but you get used to it, right?).

To apply The Healthy Lip, just slick a little on your pout, move it around with a finger or the included doe foot, and you’re fine for at least four hours. There’s no learning curve whatsoever.

It’s available in 13 super pretty colors, and they’re the kinds of colors I like to wear — pinks, peaches, reds, berries — all the wearable stuff, so you can go nude or glam, and there are no crazy grays or blues or purples or anything like that.

On top of everything, the formula is unscented and unflavored (and hypoallergenic, fragrance free, paraben free and cruelty free), so no worries about them tasting or smelling funny, either. These are just really easy to wear, comfy, non-drying, and they’re only eight bucks!

Can’t beat that.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

You surely can’t beat the price, especially if they are that comfortable! And your pjs look great. How do you keep them so clean with a toddler around? Everything I own is covered in food stains.

I am really into the matte liquid lips ATM, they don’t go outside my lip like a glossier one does

I’ll have to check these out! Liquid lipsticks always feel so drying on my list and a lot of times I can’t find the colors I want. These seem comfortable and I like the shades! And I’m loving that they’re unscented.

Love your pj’s. Pretty lip colors. Unscented, unflavored and comfortable to wear, sounds right up my alley.

They set and last a decent amount of time, but they do come off if you want to wipe them with a tissue, and they fade over time. None of the shades I have tried crack or bleed.

Lots of nice, bright colors! Sounds like a real bargain for $8. PS Are your PJs from Pajamagram? I have a similar pair (different pattern/color, but the piping is very similar). 🙂

I hate going to Walmart, but these are $6.95 there. I love this formula! It’s so comfortable. I prefer comfort over the liquid lipsticks that crack. If I use a lip liner with these they last a lot longer.

these look lovely! how would you compare these to the nyx soft matte lip creams? i love those! so comfy and dry mostly matte/satin. they are lovely but i find some colors can be patchy and not flattering. I do love London, Berlin, Abu Dhabi and Rome!

Wow! For $8 a pop this is worth a try! My favorite liquid lippies are by Bare Minerals and Pixi- though I always feel the need to top them off with a hint of lip balm! (Otherwise my lips look real old lol).
