Have You Ever Shaved Your Face?

June 15th, 2018 by Karen 20 Comments

Call me Sasquatch…

The benefits have been discussed here on MBB before, and I have friends who swear by it, but I’ve yet to give it a try.

I thoroughly acknowledge that my upper lip and my chin could probably do with a razor shave, because, yeah, sometimes I get close to turning into a full-on hipster lumberjack, but I just can’t bring myself to do it.

This will probably sound crazy…but I think it would make me feel too much like a dude shaving his face. I know, that makes no sense at all! But I’d still rather wax or pluck.

How ’bout you? Have you ever shaved your face?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I am 44 and have for over 10 years. I know a lot of women do. I use the eyebrow razors though, not what I use on my legs. Back in the day before it was called dermaplaning, I had it done with a chemical peel and that’s how it got started. It gets rid of all the fuzz, plugs, dry skin, etc. Great exfoliation. I can’t wax, I get tiny red bumps, so this is my go to.

Hi Karen – TGIF is right!! (its been a rough week). Yes, I have shaved my upper lip
and between my eyebrows, but I used a single blade disposable, as I have not had luck with the multiblades on my face. Now I either use tweezers, or may I recommend to you the Finishing Touch Flawless. You have probably seen the infomercials for this, but I bought mine in the “as seen on tv” section at Walgreens. It looks like a lipstick, only slightly bigger, and runs on a single AA battery. It actually works! and you do not have to let the hairs grow out much before you can use it., so it is easier than waxing. You just rub it over the area you are trying to defuzz – don’t really know how it works, but it does!

Yes, I have PCOS so I have facial hair all the time and it stinks! I go to waxing appointments once a month and use the little eyebrows for touch ups and to remove the peach fuzz.

I have PCOS too, so I mostly tweeze my upper lip and chin and then go over it with a Bic single blade razor to get rid of fuzz and any hairs I couldn’t get with tweezers. After doing it for so many years, there’s less hair growth, so it takes less time then it used to, but some of the hairs are grey now and hard to see to tweeze. The only down side to the whole process is ingrowns. I tried a glycolic product made for guys, but since I don’t take care of the hair on my face every single day and only used the stuff on days I did, it didn’t do much of anything.

Try Paula’s Choice Soothe + Smooth. It’s part of the PC4Men line, but I use it when I shave to prevent ingrown hairs. It’s more expensive than Tend Skin, but has beneficial ingredients for the skin.

I do on a fairly regular basis but I use a face trimmer gadget because a real razor requires effort and I’m likely to cut myself. It is good for exfoliation though to use a razor! I have some pretty intense peach fuzz and getting rid of it helps me look a little more sculpted and takes away a little emphasis from the more lax skin around my mouth. I don’t think I’d care much if I didn’t wear foundation as it’s less noticeable then.

Oh, girl, yasss. Shave, wax, pluck- whatever is most convenient at the moment. As long as that mess is gone. Sometimes I use my razor with a fresh blade (I love , love, love my Dollar Shave Club razor); sometimes I use a small, handheld single blade from Sally Beauty that I also use for my brows. It kind of looks like a toothbrush with a blade instead of bristles. Whatever it takes.

I haven’t shaved my face and I’ve got a whole lotta hair going on. I think I’ve told you before I shaved my arms when I was 9 or 10 in an effort to be virtually hairless like my mother. That was so unpleasant I don’t want a repeat of it on my face.

So, I’ve been using a depilatory from Sally Beauty for eons. It works okay but with all the money I’m spending on it, I think I should go get them zapped with a laser or whatever it is for electrolysis and be done with it forever.

I do, but I use those eyebrow razors called Tinkle! They’re amazing and are a wonderful non-chemical alternative to cream depilatories for my peach fuzz on my upper lip. They’re great for exfoliating the face and shaping brows, but I try to go easy and use it mostly for my upper lip. I learned about it through YouTube. There are some interesting videos on YouTube, including some good and not-so-good experiences with facial shaving!

    Hi Karen and yes, TGIF!!!

Yes, I have and I use the little razors called Tinkle too. They work great. I use them on my ‘stash and on my jawline where I can see the peach fuzz. It does make a difference with makeup application and wear.

I shave my face every morning. I have to, it grows that fast. I have dark coarse hair. I have more issues from tweezing than I do from shaving. I am also hair obsessed! If I feel a hair on my face, I have to do something about it!

    Hi Karen ,
I always shave my face . It’s a fallacy to believe it create stubble !
Go for it . Just pick the right tool .

Aaaah. I love the initial feeling and finish of removing hair from my face…but ultimately using any kind of blade to remove it, led to super icky issues with the hairs growing back in. I end up breaking out like nobody’s business! Ugh! So no razor touches my face. I pluck with tweezers and just deal with my peach fuzz. Sigh.

I have a LOT of facial hair, dark annoying facial hair. I used to wax, but couldn’t make time for it post baby #2. I got the Dermaflash after some frantic googling, and haven’t regretted my purchase at all! I use it about once every two weeks, and it does a great job at hair removal and even a bit of dead skin removal. I’ve had zero reactions to it, waxing used to leave my skin red and bumpy (but gloriously soft), this one gets rid of the fuzz, leaving my skin 80% as soft as waxing did.

I always used to be scared of ending up with 5 o’clock shadow if I shaved my face, but after reading a lot of positive reviews who promised this would not happen, I decided to give it a go. I use those Tinkle single-blade eyebrow razors, the multi-blade leg ones can’t get right into the corners. Plus they’re dirt cheap. And I would never stop shaving my face now, I love it. I use it for all my peach fuzz, and it also exfoliates as well, and leaves such a nice smooth base for makeup. I did my moustache as well for a start, but I stopped, because it grew back so fast I was having to do it every day. Waxing lasts longer so I have gone back to waxing my moustache.

I have done it for years. When I was in HS my mom, a friend, and I would have a mustache bleaching day. We used the Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach that you mixed up in the little tray with the tiny spatula and it would start to fall off in gross clumps toward the end of its processing time. At some point during college, I thought it just looked like I had a blonde mustache, so I shaved it off. No, it did not grow back darker and thicker. I have used various shavers and tweezers over the years to get rid of all of the peach fuzz and chin hairs. Last year, I bought the Flawless Finishing Touch shaver that Daphne B mentioned. I love it. It is a shaver, not an epilator, so it doesn’t hurt. It’s pretty and you won’t feel like a dude using it. My mom also has one and loves it. The mustache bleaching days are officially over! I got mine at Ulta and you can use their $3.50 or 20% off coupons on it.

Yes, I started recently and am so glad I did. My fuzz isn´t that bad, but with the big 4-0 approaching it got more and I was curious. So far no bad reactions, no breakouts and no increase in hair.

So I picked up that Flawless Finishing Touch shaver and had bad luck with it the first go, but I have bad luck with shaving all parts of my body, LOL. I use salicylic acid on my legs and underarms to minimize bumps, so I’m going to try that with my face. I’m lucky that my facial hair is invisible blonde, but I have quite a lot of it.

I started doing it about 2 years ago and am kicking myself for not starting sooner. I use the little eyebrow razors (you can get a 3 pack on Amazon for like $5). I’m blonde but a Viking so there’s a lot of hair, and I regularly razor away the sideburn area, upper lip, chin, forehead and cheeks. It really helps exfoliate and my makeup goes on so much smoother!
