Chanel Fall-Winter Collection 2018 Le Mat de Chanel: A First Look

MATTES!

As a beauty addict who spent her formative years in the golden era of matte makeup — THE ’90s! — I can attest that finding impeccable matte makeup is a freakin’ game-changer, because ye olde days of blending chalky chocolate eyeshadows and tending to parched pouts are ovah if the new all-matte makeup by Chanel has anything to say about it.

Can I just say…not one, but *two* ALL MATTE QUADS. And jumbo twist-up crayons and cream shadows! I believe this all-matte moment is a Chanel first, and if that is the case, please bring out the defibrillator ASAP because I’m dying.

It’s called the Fall-Winter Collection 2018 Le Mat de Chanel, and it’s out right now. Here’s a quickie look at swatches of some of the products, including the brown matte quad, because your homegirl had to go there!

Oh WHY oh WHY did Macy’s have to do away with Plenti Points? Would have DEFINITELY used the points to get that dark nail polish, it’s SCREAMING my name!! Wish this was online at Ulta I’d buy it with those points hahaha

It was an iconic era for makeup, wasn’t it?! The brows were cray but I loved everything else. The mattes, the brown tones. So good!

      Hi Lacy,

LOL, I was thinking that too! 🙂 Hope you had a lovely Friday.

P.S. Ages ago you mentioned growing out your pixie cut. Did you manage to finally grow your hair out?

I did! Thx for remembering. It’s just above my shoulders at the longest layers and my front pieces hang just below. I’m al most rocking a lob! Praise the hair gods! every one around me sweats my hair grows fast but if course I think the opposite. Although this time last year it was a pixie with shaved side’s so I’ve come a long way. Had to tough out the weird inbetween Joe dirt looking phase and I made it!!!

Nothing wrong with a chocolatey eye and a red lip.

Ooo, yes, I’m with you. I grabbed the Clair-Obscur palette already. I love it.

I rarely wear nail polish, but the whole look was so appealing to me, I’m thinking of trying a matte vampy nail. I’ll probably just use the Vamp nail polish I’ve already got and do a matte top coat, though.

all hail, sweet makeup goddess of matte! You look fabulous in every single lip color here!!!! I picked up a couple of the Jumbo crayons awhile back but I am waiting for fall to put them into rotation. Here’s hoping they look as good on my pout as they do on yours.

Are the Rouge Colour Crayons really that matt? Or are they just matt in comparison to the regular, rather juicy Rouge Colour Crayons?
Like I need another lipstick? But it’s Chanel and I like red lipstick.

I’m loving mine because they aren’t super matte- I’d say in comparison with Nars Velvet pencils, they are the creamier, satin sister. But they are muy matte in comparison to the regular Le Rouge Crayon. Loving how they are super pigmented and leave a stain behind, don’t feather and bleed into my mature lip lines. I think if you want a more matte finish maybe Rouge Allure Ink is a better bet. Karen- do you agree? PS Karen- can’t wait to see the looks you create with the new shadow palette!

Lorraine, thanks for this info. I think these sound exactly what I’m looking for. Not as matt as the NARS, not as creamy as the regular Le Rouge Crayon. Not feathering and bleeding into my mature lip lines is a major plus. Really appreciate the help.

Would you use the eyeshadow stick as an eyeliner??
