Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara: [***WARNING***] Your Lashes Will Love This!

August 6th, 2018 by Karen 24 Comments

hourglass caution mascara
Please note the lashes stretching out *TO HERE* in this pic, and that’s after just one coat of Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara!

Lash drama: I has it.

Rather, I’m going through it.

Have I already mentioned this before? Only a million times, you say? Yeah, well…I promise that if the Fabulous Fringe Fairy materializes at the foot of my bed one night, waves her Wand of Winsomeness and bequeaths me with naturally lush lashes 4LIFE, I will happily STFU about the Grand Canyon-sized gap along the lash line of my right eye, and you will never have to hear another sordid tale of my lash woe again. 😉

(Believe me, I want this as much as you do.)

Until then, there’s new Hourglass Extreme Lash Mascara.

hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara in Ultra Black ($29 for a 0.33-oz. tube)

So, what makes this mascara so fancy? — I mean, other than the intensely black color (it’s darker than a supervillain’s heart) and the tapered brush (it’ll grab lashes you didn’t even know you had)?

Answer: Caution lets you just. Keep. Adding. More. Layers. No matter how many you apply, it won’t go full-on Tammy Faye, at least I don’t think so. I haven’t seen a single clump when I wear it. Like not one. And, honey, no matter how many layers you use, your lashes will still feel light and soft. Not crunchy or flaky at all!

An all-in-one mascara that delivers endless length, intense volume and sky-high lift for extreme, dramatic lashes. The combination of the innovative 4D Amplifier™ brush with the continuously buildable formula create lashes that defy the boundaries of traditional mascara.

  • 4D Amplifier™ brush combines 2 brushes in 1 to deliver volume, length, lift and definition for extreme lashes
  • Saturates lashes from root-to-tip for the most volume in a single stroke
  • Perfectly coats the bottom lashes without smudging onto the lower lashline
  • Tapered end reaches even the smallest lashes in the corners of the eyes
  • Smooth, buildable, ultra-black formula creates dramatic but weightless lashes that don’t smudge or flake
  • — hourglass.com

OK…but that’s not even the best part. Remember the catchphrase, “Extreme Lash”? It’s so accurate. My lashes are long, thick, curly and lifted to the N-th degree. Shout-out to the lab geniuses who knocked this one out of the park.

Hourglass Caution Mascara is similar to…

  • Clé de Peau Beauté Perfect Lash Mascara: Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara is very similar (almost a dupe) to Clé de Peau Beauté, which is $50 (!), but it MUCH less expensive ($29 vs. $50).
  • Chanel Le Volume de Chanel Mascara: Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara creates dramatically longer lashes, but Chanel’s creates slightly more volume around the lash roots.
  • Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Escalator Mascara: Slightly less length and separation than I get with Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara, but it’s a similar lash look.
  • MAC In Extra Dimension Waterproof Mascara: Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara is so much better in terms of separation, length and the definition of each individual lash hair, but MAC In Extra Dimension Waterproof creates more volume.
  • Tom Ford FullScreen Lash Mascara: A very similar look, but Tom’s FullScreen Lash is clumpier.

Surely, if science can create a mascara as profoundly good as this one, it’s only a matter of time before someone invents a way to teach the citizens of the Internet the difference between they’re, there and their.

Don’t stop believing!

Hold on to that feeeeeeeling.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 5 out of 5 hearts.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

First off I love your new cut and color! Looks fantastic! Secondly i have a deluxe sample size of this coming my way with Sephora promo code and I can’t wait to try it! But for anyone who doesn’t want to take the full plunge Sephora has a mini size for $14.

The mascara sounds like a dream come true. If only it could teach the difference between they’re, there and their and I would stop wishing completely.

Most of my makeup I get from the drugstore nowadays but I haven’t been able to find a drugstore mascara that I like. Generally anything from Lancôme works for me, but this one sounds like its worth a try!

So this mascara hold a curl? I would love to find a non-waterproof mascara that holds a curl.

Ooh! I’ve been thinking about trying this once my current tube of Buxom Lash is finished. I really love Hourglass…I feel like they’re one of the few brands whose products live up to the hype. I think they must have some very talented chemists working in their labs, haha!

I was totally going to ask if those were the Chanel lippies and liner. I liked Hourglasses old mascara, which they dc’d a long time ago. Honestly, it looks really similar. I wonder if they just relaunched it.

You look amazing!! With the hair and this look, sooo pretty &polished. I have a love/hate with mascara. They all feel heavy, smeary ( is that a word? Lol) on me so I’m going to try the mini of this…you had me at “not crunchy or flaky or full on Tammy Faye”

Have you tried tubing mascaras? I always felt the same until I tried those and I’ve never looked back.

        Hi MissM,

I have! I think it’s much easier for me to remove the non-tubing mascaras though so I tend to stick to that formula. 🙂

My two favorite mascaras are Cle de Peau (ugh the price here in the US, not that it’s that much less expensive in Japan) and Chanel Le Volume (love the volume, wish there was a tad more length). If this wears like those two and it doesn’t smudge or flake and no raccoon eyes at the end of the day, I’m definitely going to try this.

The Cle de Peau mascara is never on sale. Depending on the exchange rate and whether or not Dear Hubs is willing to venture out to the cosmetic outlet store in Tokyo, he’ll sometimes pick up a tube or two when he’s there for business and maybe it will work out to $42 tube. If it wasn’t so expensive and so dang hard to get off (on the flip side, it never smears, smudges or flakes on me) I’d use it every day.

Did I tell you that a friend once bought me a Tshirt that reads “I’m silently correcting your grammar”? I’m totally on team T-T-T. 😉

Ooh, another mascara to try! I’m all about the thick life and still trying to find something that works better for me than Faux Cils. Maybe this one will be the winner!

If you can swing it try the Clea de Peau one someday. (Maybe for a Christmas or birthday present?) It’s SO GOOD (but so expensive). But this one is great too, a relatively affordable alternative. 🙂

Like Michelle below me, I too have a mascara drawer, le sigh. So far my faves are still Better than Sex and Diorshow. And of course I sprung on the NARS Climax launch this past weekend because how could I not?? Have you tried it yet, and how does it compare to Extreme Lash? Maybe I’ll throw in the towel and buy this one too… decisions decisions…

    Much love from NJ!

Karen, does this hold a curl well? I’ve got mascaras for Africa, in my quest to find one that adds length, volume, holds a curl and doesn’t clump or give spider-legs lashes.
