Latest Drugstore Loves! —> Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Micellar Cleansing Water and Micellar Cleansing Towelettes

Won’t break the bank, AND they work!

If you’ve ever donned a smoky eye to go get Baked Cheetos at 10 in the morning, or if you’ve ever “needed” to bust out three tubes of mascara to simply continue living your life, you already know that whatever makeup goes on, must come off, and that’s when micellar cleansers like these two new ones from Neutrogena are handy.

For the uninitiated, micellar cleansers are a type of liquid makeup remover comprised of tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules suspended in soft water, and they’re designed to remove makeup, grit, grime — basically everything, even the hard-to-remove stuff like waterproof mascara. Also key: they work without heavy scrubbing, so they’re gentle.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Micellar Cleansing Towelettes ($6.99) and Micellar Cleansing Water ($11.99)

Neutrogena’s micellar cleansers work quickly and well. I can completely remove a full face of makeup with one swipe, and I’m talking about a look with all teh things — multiple layers of mascara, highlighter, bronzer, foundation, concealer — and they don’t irritate my skin or my eyes.

They’re so much better than the last drugstore micellar wipes I tried (*ahem* Garnier).

“Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Micellar Cleansing Towelettes effectively remove makeup while gently cleansing and purifying skin. These gentle, ultra-soft face wipes provide a deep clean by targeting 100% of impurities, leaving skin feeling soft and refreshed. The pre-moistened cleansing towelettes purify and revitalize skin. The formula is powered by Triple Micellar Technology which combines three gentle cleansers that work together to help remove even the toughest makeup, effectively cleanse, and purify skin without being harsh. Neutrogena Deep Clean Purifying Micellar Cleansing Towelettes require no rinsing and are non-comedogenic and oil- and alcohol-free.”

Although…I’d still exercise caution if you’re thinking about removing the eyeliner on your water line with one of the wipes because IMO they’re kinda scratchy for such a delicate area. Instead, I soak a soft cotton pad (I highly recommend the ones from Shiseido) with the Micellar Water, which removes my eye makeup just as well (even waterproof mascara, liquid and gel liners, and other long-lasting stuff).

Neutrogena Micellar Cleansing Towelette ingredients:
Water, Polysorbate 20, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Butylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-8, Sodium Benzoate, Poloxamer 407, Fragrance, Disodium EDTA, Portulaca Oleracea Extract

Neutrogena Micellar Cleansing Water ingredients:
Water, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Polysorbate 20, Butylene Glycol, PEG-8, Poloxamer 407, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Disodium EDTA, Portulaca Oleracea Extract

One more heads up: Both the wipes and the cleansing water are supposed to be fragrance-free, but my nose detects an eau d’minty dish soap and celery… It’s not, like, Biologique Recherche P50 stinky, but it’s pretty strong. It’s only a minor issue for me, seeing as how both products work so well and don’t cost an arm, leg and a tabby tail.

A pack of 25 wipes is $6.99 (and the wipes are BIG — roughly 7 by 9 inches), and a big 11.3-oz. bottle of the cleanser is $10.99.

Pretty good deal, yeah?

For both items, ❤️❤️❤️❤️ 4 out of 5 hearts.

Your friendly neighborhood beuaty addict,

Karen

I will have to try that micellar cleansing water when I run out of my current one. I’m not really into makeup wipes anymore, I tried using them only for about a week and it made me break out. I feel like wipes just spread the dirt and grime around on your face, unless if you co-wash with a foaming cleanser after.

      Hi Rachel,

I like them for the convenience so I always keep a pack around. Which micellar water are you using? I just finished the Garnier one recently — it’s just ok.

Does the micellar water burn your eyes? I used to use the Neurtogena Daily wipes but I’ve switched to using micellar water to remove my eye makeup then go in with my Clinique balm and after that my Clarisonic (like every other day or so or if I have an especially heavy face on).

I’ve been using the Garnier, at least I think it is. It’s the pink cap one. I have no issues with it but I’m always looking 🙂

      Hi Barb,

No it doesn’t! That’s why I like it. 🙂 Chelsea here in the comments mentions Bioderma — I’m a fan of that brand too!

I’m pretty loyal to Bioderma Micellar water, but their wipes aren’t my favorite. If I want a premoistened wipe, Clinique makes a good micellar water wipe.

You know I’m pretty ride or die with Bifacil. Can I save some cash with this bottle? I only need it to remove mascara – do you think it’s as effective? Btw, is it MY-cell-ar or MISS-el-ar? Or neither? 🙂

For the longest time, Neutrogena was the only brand I trusted for my acne prone skin! I am currently using their oil cleanser and I’m pretty happy with it. Their combo skin oil-free moisturizer?? A game changer in my teen skin care routine lol Thank you for the share and I’m happy you’re enjoying their products! I’ll definitely keep the cleansing towelettes in mind!

I just don’t like wipes, but I love micellar water for a first cleanse. So gentle and so effective.
