Um…how many fall wreathes does one home need? — because even though I just put up this Pier 1 fall leaf wreath (say that five times fast), I kindasorta also want this one I saw at Trader Joe’s…

tjs leaf wreath

Don’t ask me why I have a soft spot for circular autumnal decor. There’s no rhyme or reason. I’m just into it!

I also saw pumpkins at TJ’s when I was there and wanted to get one, but I’m afraid it’ll be rotten by the time Halloween rolls around. But seeing as how so many people start decorating for Christmas right after the last trick-or-treaters go home, I dunno… Maybe it makes sense to get a starter pumpkin now.

Have you started putting up any fall decorations?

Wait — before you answer that, your reading for the weekend…

  • Fave read of the week: this piece on Terry Barbar, a MAC artist who’s been with the brand for 25 years. He says: “Truly, MAC lipsticks were known through word of mouth because everyone in the fashion industry had been talking about how they were given out at shoots, things like, ‘Linda Evangelista wore this…’ So people came in asking for the shade they’d heard about, which meant the brand sold makeup in a completely different way to everyone else. At the time, all the other brands were selling luxury, which almost said, ‘You can hope to be this but you never will be.’ Whereas with MAC, I think it immediately gave people products they could use themselves. They worked; they gave people an immediate identity.”

I’m finally going to see the Crazy Rich Asians movie today! Gonna drive out to my parents’ house in the East Bay to see it with my high school friends, Jen and Cindy, while Connor hangs out with her Lola and Lolo (those are the Tagalog words for “grandma” and “grandpa”).

I’m so angry about that school in Pearland, Texas. But I’m glad the community is rallying around the student. It is 2018 people.

I haven’t started putting out any fall, mainly because I haven’t been in the mood. We’re having a crazy hot summer in Maine still. 80 and sunny here right now. It’s really crazy for Sept. 15. But, I did consider buying some white pumpkins.

Have fun seeing the movie! I want to see it. I haven’t seen anything lately. Oh wait, the teenage boy and I saw a movie about muppets and murder with Melissa McCarthy, who I adore. It was weird. Fun and different but weird.

Thanks for the En Vogue throwback. Also, interview those girls and find it how they still look like girls! What skincare are they using?

Not doing much today. Working on my website. Going to pick up takeout Chinese and be super lazy. Possibly will finish the second season of Ozark.

Connor Claire is so stinkin’ cute!

Oh my goodness, the tiny ballerina/cheerleader! So cute!

I’m exercising a lot of patience and holding off on the fall decorating (my very favorite) until the first actual day of fall. Of course, we had a high of 98 degrees today with a heat index of 105, so that kind of contributes to a lack of pumpkiny feelings.

I felt so bad for Elizabeth Smart and her family earlier this week when they announced that they were releasing the woman who helped kidnap and hold her. I hope someone watches that woman 24/7, because she is out of her mind- there’s no telling what she’ll do once she hits the pavement.

    Connor Claire!! <3

I got a gloss done on my hair today and it's a little darker / more intense than I expected, and now I feel like I'll have to do something with my eyebrows that are blonde. Other than that hanging around with the husband, Hettie, and Jiji.

Not to be a downer but I thought I'd let you know Mina passed away in an accident while we were at work this week. We're heartbroken and miss our Ballerina. She's off playing with Quincy across the rainbow bridge.

I’m sorry to hear about Mina, Chelsea. 🙁 I know she was your sweet ballerina kitty baby. Sending you hugs.

Thank you. Hug Tabs extra for me. Jiji has been laying in one of Mina’s normal spots and I’m like ?

Connor looks so happy to be a cheering ballerina!!

I like the fullness of TJ’s but the color of your original. I’m lucky to get pumpkins by Halloween. We’re usually decorating the day before. I did actually think about getting a fall themed door wreath, though.

How’d you like Crazy Rich Asians? I’m actually quite surprised it hit big time – people actually understand the humour.
