Chanel Has a New CC Cream! $55 Chanel Super Active Complete Correction Broad Spectrum SPF 50

Chanel has a new CC Cream!

Why, oh, why am I still livin’ on a prayer like it’s 80 degrees outside?

Oh, yeah. Because it was 77 yesterday! Bay Area weather is so weird. We get these spells of the muggiest, summery-est weather right around Halloween, which are usually followed by a couple of very rainy, chilly weeks.

I’m not complaining. It’ll be sweater weather soon enough. Anyway, to go with this warm spell we’re having, I’ve been wearing appropriate warm weather bases, because — hi! — do you like it when your face melts off in the heat? I sure don’t. So, tinted moisturizers and BB and CC creams are in heavy rotation as of late, including this new CC by Chanel.

What’s inside…

From chanel.com:

PRODUCT
1 tinted moisturizer, 5 superpowers: evens, moisturizes, corrects, protects, illuminates. CC CREAM with Broad Spectrum SPF 50 combines skincare benefits with a longwearing, medium-to-full coverage makeup effect and a glowing finish — for the look of a more luminous, healthy complexion. After one month of use, the enhanced formula helps to correct signs of aging, improve skin’s texture and visibly reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Day after day, skin appears healthier with natural-looking radiance.

KEY INGREDIENTS
CC CREAM is infused with Murunga Plum Extract — unearthed from an Australian super fruit rich in vitamin C — to help protect skin from environmental aggressors while enhancing texture and glow. A new form of Hyaluronic Acid helps hydrate skin throughout the day for increased suppleness and comfort. With continuous moisture, skin looks plumped.

HOW TO APPLY
Wear alone after your skincare ritual or underneath powder makeup.

OK, $55 for one little ounce of product is HELLA unreasonable, but if you’re into a sheer, satiny finish and blurred pores, and you don’t like to feel like you’re wearing a plaster face cast made of makeup, this could totally be your go-to, if, and only if, you also have a penchant for pink-toned bases.

Shade “40 Beige” blended and un-blended. (I’m an NC42 in MAC for reference.)

Wearing 40 Beige (one of five shades — 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 Beige)

I’ve been testing shade 40 Beige (one of five shades), which has a pretty strong pink undertone. If I sheer it out enough, it looks almost like my warm yellow-toned skin, but my persnickety @ss can still kinda see a tinge o’ pink, and I’d prefer not to.

It’s only available in five shades, and this is the second darkest. I’m assuming that the two shades book-ending 40 Beige also have pink undertones as well, but I may test that theory at a Chanel counter.

I would wear this every day if it suited my skin tone better, because of the gorgeous satin finish and its pore-blurring power. It also feels SO good on my face, and it lasts all day long (even through warm weather).

Keeping my fingers crossed that they release some warmer shades someday soon. You’re a lucky ducky if you have pink undertones and are Team Chanel! I think you’ll probably like (maybe even love) this.

Oh, and since it is Chanel, it’s also heavily scented. It smells like lovely roses and oranges.

❤️❤️❤️❤️ 4 out of 5 hearts.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’ve had this for about a month and am a bit underwhelmed. No matter how I apply it, it just looks cakey. I love the physical sunscreen and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, and 20 is the perfect color match. I’d love to make it work, any application tips?

      Hi Ewa,

OK, so what I do is apply a few dots to the center of my face with my fingers. Then I spray a little MAC Fix+ or Estee Lauder Setting Spray on a Real Techniques Buffing Brush, and buff the CC cream outward. Sometimes I just use a dollop and then blend with my fingers, then buff out with a Buffing Brush. Do you moisturize separately before using the CC cream? I always do that, and mine goes on smoothly!

I usually use a lightweight serum underneath, I’ll try a moisturizer!
        Thanks!

I feel like crying. How did I know it was going to tick all my boxes (except price, of course)? CC cream, SPF 50, second ingredient ends in “-icone” and for pink undertones. Why? Chanel wants me to be poor. HAHA! I’m just going to keep reading Ewa’s comment above until the urge to buy disappears. 🙂

Happy Thursday and congrats on the nice weather. It’s a high of 40 here today (but sunny so I’m not complaining either!).

I really want to love Chanel’s makeup but they really need to work on broadening their shade range! Thanks for your review Karen but I’ll pass on this.

This isn’t a brand new product. I’ve has it since the spring. It’s a really lovely CC cream. Chanel always gets it right.

      Hi Jessica!

It’s a relaunch, so while not technically “new,” it’s still a newer version of the previous one. 🙂

I had the first version of this and rarely wore it, finding it too thick and gloopy. So I was so excited that they reissued this. It’s still a big nope for me. Even though it’s lighter weight than the first version of this, I feel like it stills goes on gloopy and tacky. Especially if you wear enough of it to get that actual SPF50. If I put it on like foundation there’s no way I’m getting SPF 50 because you have to wear at least 1/4 tsp to get that SPF. I find it never really dried down on my skin and left it tacky feeling and shiny. If I applied powder so it was less shiny and would feel set it looked cakey. So glad I got a sample of this before jumping in to purchase it.

I am paler than you, but still with a warm undertone, so not one for me.
The weather here has been very warm as well, almost like summer with chilly evenings.

I was given a sample of this when I purchased the Clair Obscur eyeshadow palette. I love some of the Chanel products, but their foundations don’t do it for me. One reason I find is the limited shade choices. I am neutral, but still find most shades too pink for me. I also find them to be heavy on the fragrance. Finally, as I have gotten older, I find that I have gotten more sensitive to SPF on my face. I think for the money, NARS Radiant Tinted Moisturizer is better for me, and there is a bit more product at a lower price.

Im late to the game here but I think Chanel is discontinuing their CC cream! Every store is sold out!!!! I did a Google search to see what I could find out there and so stumbled upon your blog!

Do you know any details?! I am obsessed with this cream!
