MAC Patrick Starrr Slay Ride Holiday Collection: Swatches and a Rose Gold Look

Take a Sleigh Ride with Patrick Starrr

I think it’s safe to say that Patrick Starrr sleigh-ed 2018.

Get it? Sleigh-ed?? ?

OK, sorry, you know how I am with puns.

The mega influencer/YouTuber/all-around “It Boy” is launching yet another collab with MAC, and it’s pretty intense for a holiday collection. There are five lipglosses, three lipsticks, a huge over-sized Mineralized Skinfinish that’s almost as big as my head, a translucent loose setting powder, two eyeshadow palettes and three pigments, and the whole shebang drops December 3rd.

Va-va-voom!

Patrick Starrr’s known for bringing the glam, so there’s lots of sparkle, shine and cheeky innuendo. The products have names like “Shady Santa” and “Ride My Sleigh.”

I just swatched the collection and took a few things out for a spin while I returned almost all of the clothing I bought on Black Friday… Side note: The jig is sooooo up. I officially loathe shopping for clothes because apparently I’m terrible at it now and can no longer dress myself without professional help. ARRRGHHHH!

I did, however, keep this $10 scarf from Old Navy, which happens to go with the rose gold eyes I wore using Patrick’s Oh Holy Eyes palette.

Wearing the Eye Shadow X 6 in Oh Holy Eyes and the PatrickStarrr Pigment on my eyes, and MAC Vintage Rose Cream Colour Base (discontinued) and Mineralize Skinfinish in Baby Its Gold Outside on my cheeks.

Some thoughts on the products…

  • Eye Shadow X 6 in Oh Holy Eyes: Swatches smoothly and intensely, but when the shadows are applied dry, they’re sheer on my lids. The shimmers are pretty frosty, too, so I had to buff like crazy to take the shine down a few notches.
  • Pigment in PatrickStarrr: Fine shimmer? I like!
  • Mineralize Skinfinish in Baby Its Gold Outside: Intense and frosty.
  • Lipstick in Spank Me Santa: A smooth, opaque, WEARABLE rose
  • Dazzleglass in Twerk for Gifts: Surprisingly subtle glitter that isn’t gritty. Love this as a layering gloss for nudes and pinks.
  • Set Powder: Completely translucent (no flashback), but very, very matte.

I like the colors Patrick chose for this collection, but WOW! — the frosty factor of the highlighter and the shimmery eyeshadow is too intense for my taste (and my fine lines, oy!).

I can see myself reaching for the matte lipsticks, particularly the rose I’m wearing here, quite a bit though.

What do ya think?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. TGIF, am I right?

Gosh, how many collabs has Patrick done with MAC now? I’ve lost count. Those photos of you are beautiful! The pigments look particularly lovely. I don’t have a lot of experience with loose pigments, but I used to have a very neutral one from MAC that I liked a lot.

Oh darn, I’m going to be away when this releases and it will probably be sold out by the time I return. I love Oh Holy Eyes, Spank Me Santa and the setting powder. I was at the TF counter the other day and the gal helping me went over to the MAC counter to swipe the powder and she tried it on me to set my under eye concealer. It didn’t come up too matte on my skin and I really liked the way it looked.

Ooh, where are you going? And more importantly, what did ya get at the TF counter?

Kinda related (but not really) but I’m stopping by Nordstrom in the next few days because I’m feeling an overwhelming need to try some more Charlotte Tilbury foundation.

I have not had any luck with any Charlotte Tilbury products except for the eyeshadow creams. Sigh. Clearly I’m in the minority here.
Got TF Pretty Baby eyeshadow quad. Totally out of my comfort zone, but I got so many compliments on it after the SA applied it. She also did some magic with the TF concealer and the Patrick Starrr powder under my eyes. I swear my complexion never looked so good. I usually skip concealer because it ends up looking worse than not wearing it.
Headed to Paris. DH waited until an hour before my birthday dinner to shop for a present for me. The store did not have what I wanted, so the SA looked it up and she said they have it at the Madison Ave store and in Paris. So DH goes, I guess we need to go to NYC to get this for you and I replied, I’d rather go to Paris. I didn’t really think he’d come through. But we haven’t taken a vacation since 2017 and he thinks Q1 and Q2 next year are going to be very busy work wise, so we’re going. I’m not complaining that it’s cold. Yes, I realize how fortunate and lucky I am.

Oh, that’s a pretty one. I bet it would look great with MAC Prunella liner or maybe even MAC Teddy. *drools*

Have soooooo much fun in Paris and please eat all the carbs for me! 🙂

She used Cocoa Mirage in the crease and to deepen the outer corners and Metallic Mink to line. That lower left corner shade is a glittery, shifty duo chrome shade that can be rather sultry or rather bright. I’m loving this quad.

It’s really cozy! If it goes on sale again I’m getting another color. I bet the pink one would look amazing with your hair.

It has been the year for MAC and Patrick Starr and I love it! While none of thr products in this collection actually speaks to me, I might see if I can get something for the packaging alone. Maybe the setting powder, I like matte. And I LOVE the red sparkly packaging.

What do you mean if you say it is really matte? Does it cake up?
