Crazy About Creams! Say Hi to MAC Pro Face Palette Blush

Oh, ya know, just some Casual Colour with the $40 MAC Pro Face Palette: Bright Blush.

This month I am CRAZY ABOUT CREAMS. Stay tuned for some of my favorite cream makeup products all throughout January.

I know I’ve mentioned the MAC Casual Colours before. They’re brilliant. They’re creamy. They’ve popped up in limited collections before (Beth Ditto, Mia Moretti and Diane Kendall, to name a few). You can wear them on your cheeks and lips, and now MAC has them in three options — Bright Blush, Deep Blush and Light Blush.

To this, all I have to say is YES.

Well, obvs, that’s not all I have to say, ha! 🙂 Hello, my name is Karen, and my ability to get straight to the point is questionable.

I will also say this: If you’re a makeup lover who likes fresh, shiny cheeks and plump, juicy lips, you’ll probably appreciate Casual Color’s semi-glossy finish and creamy texture.

These palettes are a go-to when I’m wearing a sheer base (bare skin, BB or CC cream, or a tinted moisturizer), because the semi-glossy finish goes well with minimal coverage.

The trick is to gently tap-tap-tap the tiniest amount (either with your fingers or a stippling brush) you can get away with because these creams are very concentrated. You only need the most minimal of minimal amounts.

Once you figure out how little you can get away with, you’ll be rewarded with surprisingly good wear time. I get about five hours on my cheeks and three on my lips.

Also, when you’re using the Casual Colours as blush, apply them immediately after your tinted moisturizer or BB/CC cream, because if you wait until your base has fully set, the creams will disrupt whatever you’re wearing beneath them. Don’t wait for your base to dry down completely; ideally, for the smoothest application, you want your Casual Color to go on top of a base or skin that’s still a little wet.

You can find these treasures on the MAC website, MAC counters and in stores.

Sick day

Connor Claire, a.k.a. “the coywolf,” caught a new cold, so I’m doing my work while she rests.

I’m also doing my best to not catch said cold myself, although I’m at the point now where I kinda just wish she’d sneeze in my eye already to get it over with, LOL.

I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. If you’re around, come say hi. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Oh the joys of winter colds! I just got over what I think was the stomach flu and it was…not pleasant!

Thanks, Chelsea. It seems to be a quick cold because she’s feeling a little better already. Have a good Thursday!

We have another round of colds here too, with two kids in daycare I feel like we catch every bug.
I love creamy cheeks at the moment, but haven’t tried the MAC options yet. So far I have been sticking to drugstore options.

The colors are too pretty and I want them, but I can justify this price tag with a 5-hour wear when my skin in my cheeks is on the oily side.

Working with older people is like daycare so I don’t know how I haven’t catched all the bugs the old people have.

I like you in a bright blush and think the brights would be super flattering. If you’re near a MAC counter it might be fun just to play; the Casual Colours are beautiful and not quite like anything else in the MAC line.

What kind of work are you doing with the senior citizens?

I actually liked both palettes, but if I buy one, I’d buy the deep one because there’s no way I can rock that orange. I’ll try them instore, but I actually learned that MAC is more expensive in Germany than in Mexico.

The work I do with them it’s actually like daycare: I enter at 9 AM, they’re already taking breakfast so I help with the food, sit with them and chat. Then is cleaning and making an activity with them from playing to dancing, etc. Then we prepare everything for lunch, after lunch they take a nap and we clean. When they wake up we are coffee and cake together and make another activity and I prepare everything for dinner.

Sometimes you can’t really make activities with them, but you have always to try.

The orange is crazy but surprisingly really flattering if you do it sparingly. I put it on once full on and looked like I just ran away and joined the circus, HA HA HA! When you try it on remember a little goes a loooong way.

The way you describe the structure of the day sounds EXACTLY like Connor’s daycare (well, except for the coffee part!). I bet the residents enjoy your company and that your German is getting fluent with all the interaction. How many hours do you work a week? I hope it’s not interfering too much with your studies. There I go sounding like the older sis you never wanted. 🙂

You know, I didn’t say it because I think the color is crazy, it’s because my skin can’t take orange without looking strange. When I visited Anne, she let me try a lipstick and she was impressed about how orange it looked on me (it was a coral) and how unflattering it was.

That’s how I learned that because of my olives undertones, orange and really warm colors look funny on me.

I always say I work in a daycare for old people. I work 40 hours a week and actually right now I’m not taking any German classes, only an app and the practice everyday.

Some people correct me and others just let me be, but yes my German is better know even though the grammar is crazy.

And yes you can always be like the old sister I never had.

Ohh I see! I’m the same way with certain colors, too, like yellow. I don’t wear it often in clothes because it makes me look like I’m ill. And very warm orangey/reddish browns look weird on me.

Anyway, 40 hours a week doing a job that’s not your native tongue is probably one of the fastest ways to pick up the language. That and watching TV shows! My friend Cindy came to the U.S. as a young child and she learned how to speak the language from watching The Brady Bunch.

Are you able to tell jokes in German yet? I’ve read that being able to convey humor is a language means you’ve got a good grasp of it.

I need to get me to a MAC counter someday. None of the stores near me sell MAC products and the local Ulta only has bits of the line. I need to get to the Malls for MAC. The cream blushes are right up my alley since I have only been wearing tinted moisturizer lately and my skin is soooo dry!

That bright blush palette looks gorgeous! I’m currently loving the Makeup Revolution Cream Blush palette and have been using it non-stop this fall/winter. I’d love to try the MAC next though!

Hope you don’t get Connor’s cold, and hope she gets better pronto! Oh, those creamy blush quads are beauties. I may need to pass by the MAC counter at Macy’s and check them out.

Creams on me are like a fried egg on a hot, buttered pan – they just slip and slide away. I love looking at your pic of the Bright Blush, though. It’s such a happy color combination. 🙂

I hope Connor bounces back soon. Unfortunately this is the season for it. One of our local elementary schools had 54 kids out sick last week. It’s K – 5 and about 20 kids per class to give you an idea of the scale!
