Ponder, if you would, how much fun it would be to have an electricity-themed dance party.
Question: How much fun would it be?
Answer: Shockingly fun. ?
Of course, all of the song titles would have to include a reference to electricity. I suggest we start with the following…
Speaking of shocking developments (ha ha), I just realized that it’s a LOT harder to draw a thunderbolt on your arm than you might think. Seriously.
Below are swatches of the new MAC Electric Wonder Summer 2019 collection, errrrthing on my NC42 skin. Overview pics first, followed by closeups.
As you might expect from such a highly charged topic…there’s lots of glimmer, shimmer and glitter!
The collection is available now in stores and on the MAC website.

The Desert Lightning palette looks like some nice cool toned neutrals, and like it would be good for a smokey eye!
Karen says
Yes! That was my first thought too. How are you, Rachel?
Rachel says
Good! Happy it’s friday! It is windy and hot here and my AC at home is on the fritz, so I’m actually not too upset about sitting in my cool office at work! How are you doing? Have fun at Hearst Castle, hope it’s not too spooky!
Karen says
Keeping my fingers crossed that your AC makes it! Ours broke a while back and while I can live without it, there are those toasty days when I miss it.
I’m ok. We’re on the road right now! It’s nice to have company here in the comments so thanks for hanging with me. There’s two ways to drive to central California from where I live – the shorter boring way or the longer scenic route. We’re taking the faster way. Thank goodness for the ‘80s station and snacks.
What are you doing this weekend?
Rachel says
I’m supposed to go to a BBQ tomorrow but it looks like rain is in the forecast. We have crazy weather here in North Dakota. Different every day!
Kim says
Very Shazam! 🙂 My goodness, you must have been swatching for 40 hours on this. Eddie Grant made me laugh. I was hoping you’d break out the electric slide, though. HAHA!
PS Happy Friday – I hope you have a great weekend!
Karen says
It’s surprisingly harder than you think to draw a lightning bolt on your arm. Try it sometime. ?
Happy Friday to you. Are the boys done with the school year yet?
Kristen says
MAC has seriously come out with some of the most beautiful packaging recently!
Karen says
Hi Kristen,
Agreed! I’m really loving how elegant this collection is. Happy Friday to ya!
Lisa says
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. I’ll have to stay out of Ulta, I want these!
Karen says
Hi Lisa,
Thanks. ❤️ Someone told me the bolts looked like tattoos! I might send one to my mom with the message, “Look mom, new ink!” ? How’s your Friday going?
Lisa says
How did I miss you’re going to Hearst Castle? I’ve wanted to go there ever since I read Marion Davies biography! Have a great trip. Just finished Pilates class, so I’m trying to stay away from the cupcakes in the kitchen lol!
Diana says
Desert lighting caught my eye! I agree with Rachel-so many warm pallets lately, great to find cool tones! That was some serious lighting bolt creativity I love it. Have a great weekend Karen xo
Karen says
Hi Diana,
I’m with you on the cool palette ❤️. I’m a sucker for those cool browns, grays and taupes. ??
Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend?
Rachel Runyan says
This is a very appealing neutrals collection, even to a drama lover like me. I’m not into the really light lipsticks, but the rest is lovely. I’m especially tempted by the Desert Lightning Palette, and the lipglosses.
LindaLibraLoca says
That one completely passed me by, I cannot remember seeing it anywhere but here. I am so out of the loop with MAC these days. It isn’t that anything in the collection specifically catches my eye, but I do like the packaging a lot.
Jane says
Great swatches Karen, very creative! I haven’t bought anything from MAC in a long time though, but then I doubt if I’m their target audience, haha. That Eddy Grant song takes me right back to being a young teenager and watching him performing on TOTP. Electric Avenue is a real place, it’s in Brixton, which is part of London. Fun fact for your next pub quiz if you should need one!
