So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of five more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007). I love reading your answers, and it helps me get my week off to a good start.

I’m 100% guilty of overusing the word “seriously,” both in print and in person, and when I’m mom-ing pretty hard, I also say, “Make good choices,” and, “Please use your listening ears,” a lot.

I tower over my minions at a staunch 5 feet one inches.
Pretty sure I’m shrinking, too.
3. What are you marathoning right now?
Anne with an E on Netflix. When it first came out, I didn’t want anything to do with it because I have such fond memories of the Anne of Green Gables series from the ’80s, but I’m glad I gave it a chance. Even though it’s darker than the old series (it *really* spells out all the bad things), it still has a sweetness about it.
4. Which would you rather live without — mascara or eyeliner? (Side note: In this scenario, you have to choose one or the other. “Neither” is not an option!)
UGH, this is hard, man… I guess if I had to give one up, it would be eyeliner.
5. What makes you happy?

P.S. I ended up sleeping in this morning and got a grand total of nine hours (!) of sleep, but honestly, I felt really sluggish when I got up, like I could have slept at least three hours more.
Interesting factoid, but did you know that oversleeping can make you feel even more tired? I had no idea!

5. What makes you happy? ?. Hot tea with milk and sugar, my pets, crossing things off a list, and falling asleep fast with the aid of some melatonin!
1. What’s something you say a lot? I can’t think of anything other than “I love you”. I say that a LOT to my family. ?
2. How tall are you? 5’8”, which makes me 3 inches SHORTER than my beautiful 13 year old daughter. ?
3. What are you marathoning right now? Nada. I’m usually reading IF I get a spare minute or 30.
4. Which would you rather live without — mascara or eyeliner? (Side note: In this scenario, you have to choose one or the other. “Neither” is not an option!) Eyeliner, hands down. Mascara is top 2 makeup products for me. The other being concealer.
5. What makes you happy? Seeing my children thrive and become confident in new ways.
1. What’s something you say a lot? Really? Yes, really, that’s what I often say—really? Lol
2. How tall are you? I’m 5’ 3”. I’ve been fortunate in that I haven’t shrunk much with age. At my tallest I was 5 ’ 31/2”.
3. What are you marathoning right now? “Fleabag” I started watching it but got caught up in other things and have only now gotten back to it.
4. Which would you rather live without — mascara or eyeliner? (Side note: In this scenario, you have to choose one or the other. “Neither” is not an option!) No mascara, no problem. I was blessed with long black eyelashes.
5. What makes you happy? ? Other than my love for my family (including the furry and feathered members)—which goes without saying—there are just too many things to list. No matter how busy, stressful, sad, etc. the day, I can always find something that makes me smile. It doesn’t take much to renew my spirit.
Abraham Lincoln said, “ Folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” I couldn’t agree more.

Gilmore Girls – I totally have SO bingeing with me. Some things hold up really well, some jokes really don’t (there are a lot of off-color jokes, yikes!)…and it’s especially interesting to see a pretty modern show without the pervasiveness of cellphones and tech. It also just hit me the show debuted about 18 years ago…

Eyeliner. You can pry my mascara out of my cold, dead hands.

I say a lot of affirming things to my girls, like “I’m really proud of that report card” and “I appreciate your help with ____”. They have a lot of negative influences in their lives, so I try to be super-aware of off-setting that as much as I can.

Surprisingly, nothing. None of my current shows have new episodes right now. And I’ve watched most of my old favorites recently. I did discover Friday Night Lights a few weeks ago and blew right through it; where was I when it first came on?!?

Eyeliner, I think. I could get a similar effect with eyeshadow if I tried hard enough, but you can’t fake mascara.

My girls, when they are teen-and-toddler-attitude-free. My dog. Books that are so good you lose track of time. The fact that I have a yard full of flowers in the middle of winter. Seeing pictures of a cat in a cat dress, lol.

5. What makes you happy? ? Birding. Yes, I’m a serious birder. And I love it. That and beer. And my kitty, Thomas. Oh yeah, my husband and dog, too. 🙂

Mascara as you can make mascara from eyeliner.

Hey E.D.!! Just spotted what you are marathoning right now… I absolutely LOVE the Leftovers!! By far one of my favorite series ever, definitely in the top 3.. I may revisit it; it’s that good!
