Are You Having Hair Trubs Right Now?

March 12th, 2020 by Karen 7 Comments

rosie doing hair
I may hire Rosie to cut my hair soon… It’s that dire.

Because mine is driving me nuts.

ABSOLUTELY BATTY.

It’s coming up on a year since my last cut (it was a grief haircut and happened right after Tabs passed away). The shape and style are long gone, so now when I try to wear it down, it just hangs there like a long shag carpet…

And now, since I end up throwing it into a pony or a low bun all the time for work, I’m in the habit of just wearing it up all the time, so I haven’t really bothered to do anything to remedy the situation.

It’s getting to that point, though, where if I don’t do anything soon, I’m gonna end up with an impulse hair chop — which sometimes works out for me, but usually doesn’t.

Are you having hair woes, too?

If you aren’t and you’re having a good hair day, week or month, first of all, HOORAY. Second, I want to hear about that, because I could do with some mane inspo! Anything to take my mind off the news!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Hope you’re hanging in there. This has been a craaaaaazy week, hasn’t it? Every time I glance at the news, it’s like watching a scary science fiction movie.

Words can’t even describe. ?

Thank you Karen for the lighthearted post. I was looking forward to it all day (it is 5:30 in Montreal). Let’s all hang in there.

Every time I chop my hair off (though I mean by chop off: maybe shoulder-lengths) I love it for 48 hours and then I regret it! ? So now when I have a bad hair day, I rather wash my hair (which takes forever!) and blow dry it really flat (cause I’m coarse and curly naturally). Then I don’t make the mistake to chop it off lol. And I also like my hair for 48 hours. Or maybe even 62 hours! ?

Increasing gray strands and some thinning but otherwise pretty happy with my locks. I have bangs that are a combo of curtain/blunt but point-cut. It was a straight-up pixie 2 years ago and is now back to below collarbone length. I grow it out so that I CAN PUT IT UP FOR YOGA lol. (You know yoga is a true life practice when you work your hair, sleep, social life around IT.) I also happen to look better with long hair, however unkempt, unlayered it is. My sister, on the other hand, just looks STUNNING in short short hair. I’m not sure why that is, we look somewhat alike. I think I will always carry some kind of fringe, in various lengths and styles, but I need to cover my forehead. It’s just too round, wide, high, shiny to not cover it.
Stay healthy, Karen, and MBB community!!!!

My hair woe at the moment is that I’m transitioning into the curly girl method with my wavy hair. And it says specifically in the CGM book that “one shalt not debulk hair” because the weight of curly hair is key to curls. My new hairdresser debulked my hair a month ago (before I knew about debulking) and now, I’m stressing that my wavy locks are limp and look terrible. Everyone says my hair looks fine but I wonder how my hair would look like if I knew better all these years…sigh. xx Anyway, I’m trying to keep informed and upbeat, not just about my hair, but about the whole COVID-19 situation at the moment. Wash your hands, drink water, get some rest and manage your anxiety!

I’ve got goals to grow mine long in the front by summer. Would you ever consider chocolatey highlights??

I just had mine cut last week and it desperately needed it! It had been 12 weeks but looked like 12 months. I always wear mine down at work and in public so it was getting embarrassing. And I find that it’s becoming dry. I picked up a new shampoo (Pureology Hydrate Sheer). It’s been a really good switch. And I’m also experimenting with only washing every other day, parting on the other side and brushing 100x per night with a boar bristle brush. It’s been a week and things are looking up. It seems like as we get older and hormones change, our hair changes, too. It was probably past due time for me to adjust! 🙂
