Hey, friend! Happy Thursday. Is it just me, or has this felt like the longest short week ever?
Anyway, I’m officially having a crazy brow day. It started this morning as I was getting ready for a video call. I drew in my arches with my usual Chanel Boy Brow Pencil, but then, when I looked in the mirror, I swear my brows looked like I had barely filled them in at all. So I put a little bit more product in, then a little more and a little more.
Next thing I know, my brows look super dark and crazy!
Of course I had to make it more complicated by running a brow brush through so I could try again, this time instead with an eyeshadow (good ol’ MAC Brun). That, too, still looked kinda funky.
This was the best I could do. Some days you win the brow game, and some days, you gotta take what you can get. Hey, at least I tried, right?

Think your brows look great, not crazy at all
Aww, thanks Lauren! This was after I was able to get them in somewhat manageable shape. LOL! Hope you’re having a good Thursday so far.
Oh girl, been there more than a time or two.
Now that my brows are getting sparser with age, I can turn brow crazy pretty darn quick.
Also, I’ve got one brow hair, not even sure if it’s a brow hair per se or just a regular hair that grows right above my brow line that grows super long before I notice it! And of course, it’s silver or gray so maybe that’s why I don’t see it until it’s gotten so long I could take a knitting needle and turn it into a little eye shade.
But I digress.
I’ve been using Smashbox brow powder for an age but I can’t find it anymore. All they seem to have is pencil, which I think looks kind of harsh on me. So I ordered an Anastasia brow powder, which I haven’t tried yet because I keep misplacing it!
I used to use the Anastasia brow pencil back in the day, and I remember it being really good!

I do mine half asleep before going to work. Some days I look in the mirror when I get there and its like Wowza! They are not even at all!
Karen, what eyeshadow are you wearing in this picture? It’s such a pretty lavender/purple! And your brows look great 🙂
That purple eyeshadow completely detracts from the crazy brows!
The end result is great! I’ve been sticking to clear brow gel for the past year or so. Recently I decided to use my tinted brow gel again and I thought it was way OTT, even though I routinely used it in the past. I wear less makeup overall so that’s a factor too. I think my eye is not used to it these days. And I probably need to get my skills back up to par.
They look nice but I get it. I found out the Anastasia Brow gel I’d been using had something to which I’m mildly allergic, which explained some stuff. I’m trying out a new one – Nyx Thick it Stick it in Auburn – color is great, still testing for wear.
Funny your focus was brows. I don’t spend much time on my sparse brows but I recently switched from Anastasia of BH Brow Wiz to L’Oreal brow definer in dark brown. First reason is the pencil itself seems sturdier than ABH. The last two pencils I purchased, either the spooley broke off or the pencil part broke off. IO also think the L’Oreal dark brown has the best mix of brown and grey which matches my hair better. It’s a few dollars cheaper as well and gets the job done.
So, we dropped Zack back to Ithaca yesterday and we are back to being “empty nesters”. It is brutally cold here in New Jersey and I plan on staying in as much as possible. Hope all is well with you.
I had one yesterday. No matter what I did, five minutes in my brows were looking as if I hadn’t even attempted to style them – I must have had a ton of product in by the end of the day, and still – looked like I hadn’t even tried.
