My goodness, first rain of the season! This was the first rain of the season. Earlier than usual, and it wasn’t a lot of rain, but it came down for real there for a while. It started late last night, and of course Rosie was on fired up. She was pacing around the house, checking all of the windows. There was a some wind with it too, so the branches and leaves were swaying.
You know how cats are. All that movement outside gets their spider senses tingling, so she was on full alert!
Back when Tabs was the King of the House, he was the same way. He always got fired up during a rainstorm. In fact, he always demanded that I take him outside when it rained.
It was like a special occasion, but of course, as soon as he actually got out there and got wet, well, diva mode inevitably kicked in.
Rosie
Rosie handled it in much the same way.
She demanded that Connor and I take her outside only to quite quickly realize — Ew! My paws are wet! This is not good!
She eventually got it over it, though, and started exploring.
One thing both Tabs and Rosie wholeheartedly agree on is this: rain means rainbows, which means that rain isn’t bad. 🙂

We have had all the rain that was missing in spring coming down in a constant downpour for a week now, and I am loving it. Everything looks so much greener and fresher now, which is odd as we are heading into fall, but still – it has rained far too little here (just like it has everywhere else).
Nora used to want to go outside to explore while it was raining, until her paws or fur got wet. Lol.
Nibbler just slept through it all. I need to ask Dear Daughter if this is
usual or if she’s displaying geriatric kitty behavior.
When we lived in Pennsylvania, our cat, Marshie always wanted to go outside when it was snowing. We’d go out, only to have him beg to come back in. After a few times like that, we stopped letting him out when it snowed. They never learn, but we do.
Rosie was probably working out the air pressure to precipitation ratio…Someone has to keep on top of these things, you know..!
Cool enough to wear raincoats already? I envy you – in my area, it won’t be cool enough to wear a raincoat until probably the middle or end of October. When it rains in Texas and it’s still over 70 degrees (which it will be in daylight most of the time for the next 6 weeks), you can’t wear a raincoat, and most of the time it’s so windy you’ll fight the wind over your umbrella, so you just end up getting rained on.
