Layered Eye Looks: Forest Green Liner with Champagne Eyeshadow

December 6th, 2022 by Karen 16 Comments

I jokingly texted a friend to tell her that I finally put on a full face of makeup because I no longer wanted to look like I just crawled out of a pit of doom! LOL. And even though I’m 100% comfortable now rollin’ around town bare faced with just sunscreen, there’s still something really nice about going to the grocery store to buy cara cara oranges and have the checker call me “miss” instead of “ma’am.”

I’ve been inspired by simple, layered eye makeup lately. In this one, I layered a glittery champagne cream shadow (Hourglass Ray) on top of a shimmery forest green liner (Urban Decay Mildew). It’s easy, peasy, lemon squeeze-y, and I feel like I get a lot of look for very little effort.

What I also really like about this look is how the glitter isn’t too flashy. It sparkles in the light, but it’s not, like, too much for a weekday midday run to Tar-ghay.

Key products worn in this look

Here’s what I used for eyes, cheeks and lips. If you want to know more about the base or brows, let me know in the comments. 🙂

  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil Liner in Mildew – A shimmery forest green liner that stays put!
  • Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow in Ray – A deep champagne glitter eyeshadow with subtle flecks. Gorgeous!
  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Blush in Coastline – A toasty warm brown cream blush that could double as a bronzer. A little goes a long way.
  • MAC Lipstick in Half ‘n’ Half – A workhorse neutral lipstick that goes with everything.

Officially a dance mom!

Connor joined the junior dance team at her studio this year, and last weekend was her first official performance. I think she was more excited to wear the clip-on earrings, LOL!

I’ve had my ears pierced since the day I was born; no really, back in the day in the Philippines, you could get your baby’s ears pierced at the hospital!

Anywho, all this to say we found out that clip-on earrings are a whole different beast. Connor was so looking forward to wearing them, but when she tried them on for the first time, one of the earrings was too tight and hurt her little ear.

I did a little googling and found a trick to loosening them. All you have to do is move the part of the clip-on that looks like a “U” around. You need widen it to relieve the pressure on your ears! It really helps. Just goes to show you, you learn something new every day.

Have a peaceful and joyful Tuesday.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I really love green shadows so why don’t I own UD Mildew liner? I swear I have at least a dozen colors of that liner. It’s my go-to.
Connor is looking so grown up! She looks so tall in that picture. She must be over 4ft. tall now!

I was digging through a drawer and found UD Mildew a few days ago, and it took my breath away. You need it! (And I need a back up. LOL.)

Connor is the youngest one on her junior dance team and she’s as tall as the other girls who are seven and eight. She certainly didn’t get the height from me. HAHA!

How’s the weather down there? It rained here overnight, but it looks like we’ll get a little break today. Happy Tuesday!

It’s good that Connor has some height! I’m assuming El Hubs is tall-ish? I was hoping Dear Daughter would be half way between Dear Husband and I, but she’s only an inch taller than me. Sigh.
It rained overnight down this way too. Sunny today. I keep hoping for more rain because we need it. We lost two trees draught stressed trees in the past few years and the neighbor behind us lost a huge oak, so now we can see into each other’s houses. (Now I need new window treatments) It can rain overnight all it wants.
        Happy Wednesday!

El hub is taller than me but not super tall. I think the genes exist in his fam, though, as his sister is tall! He probably would’ve been taller if he had better nutrition in his formative years. I’m always pushing for Connor to eat her “growing food” and hoping it will pay off someday!

Thank goodness for the rain. We’ve lost a few great trees in out neighborhood too, including my favorite tree (BOO); I’m assuming happened because of the draught. Come on mother nature, keep that rain coming!

Oh, and I can tell you everything you want to know about window treatments, HA HA HA! I must say, I love our Hunter Douglas blinds and shades. I don’t think you can go wrong with them. We ended up going with a local place in town that offered an in-home consultation with a design person, which REALLY helped a lot. If I had tried to do it on my own at Home Depot, I definitely would’ve picked the wrong things!

Hey Karen! Gotta ask…what did you use as the base for this pic? I’m always trying different foundations. I was loving Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea foundation…but they discontinued it😕. Before that I used Urban Decays Naked foundation…discontinued😕. I am back to using Mac Studio Fix Fluid (which I do like…but I am always looking for better). You look very pretty and glowing in the pic. Love the eyes.

It’s crazy how much Connor has grown. My little girl is 8 and my son is 10. It’s such an emotional roller coaster how fast the time goes.

      Hi Mandy!

I went a little heavier with this look. I used two different concealers — Estee Lauder and Hourglass. The EL one has more coverage and has a yellower base; it’s almost like a very concentrated foundation. I did two thin layers on my cheeks, nose and around my mouth. The Hourglass one, which I used under my eyes, has a peachier tone. After I blended the edges of the two concealers together, I patted the LM cream blush onto my cheeks. Then I dusted a good amount of powder directly on top of everything (MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural). I typically try to get away with using as little powder as possible, but this time I wore a lot (for me). The MAC MSF powder has a decent amount of coverage and does a good job of evening out skin!

The eye look is so good. I hope Connor likes her dance team.

I’ve never had my ears pierced, or anything else!

Thank you! She’s really enjoying dance team so far. She’ll probably do it again next year!

How has your week been so far? Good, I hope.

I love this green and soft goldish combo. I remember AGES ago, Lancôme had a lovely two pan powder shadow with these exact colors. I adored it, wore it every day! It enhanced my blue eyes and I got compliments. This was ‘back in the day’ *cough* circa 1987, when buying Lancôme was a big deal. Sadly, it must not have sold well since it wasn’t restocked. On that note, since I’m giving away my age; you went in a department store and the only counters were Lauder, Lancôme, Clinique, Elizabeth Arden! Imagine! Oh, and if it was a fancy department store like Bonwit Teller there was an Alexandra DeMarkoff (spelling ?) counter….that was for ‘rich ladies’. Ha, the old days 🤍🤍🤍 btw, I’m not poo pooing Lancôme as being any less than it was back then it is today, but you don’t hear much about it. A shame!

Oh my gosh, I remember those department store days fondly! I would drool at the thought of visiting the Clinique, Prescriptives (remember them!) and Lancôme counters.

Yay for dance moms! Touché! I took dance at her age. I was what they called chubby, not fat, but chubby (yes, body shaming went on in the ‘60’s 😞) and I would cry ALOT! Because the girls with the lithe, dancers bodies like Connor could do sooooo many more moves. I was happy for them but jealous. Needless to say my tap and ballet lessons were not renewed at my request. Good for her! I can many wonderful moves in the future!!

I’m so sorry that happened to you, Nina. At the dance studio where Connor goes, there are a lot of different body types, which is one of the big reasons why I wanted to her to go there (there are a few different studio options in our town). The girls/guys who are on the team who are in high school dance team all have different shapes and sizes. It’s wonderful. I hope that if you ever get the urge to dance again that you’ll try it! Tap is for everyone… I used to take it (as an adult) and it was lots of fun.

Thanks Karen, it was a ‘bummer’ and thankfully I had a great mom who didn’t push it but rather steered me in another direction to head off any long term inferiority! I think in two years time I did shine playing tennis. We plump little girls were always rather spoken down to in a cutsey way of ‘ohhh she’s pudgy but oh so pretty’ 🤮. It’s a tricky area and if not headed off can lead to some serious eating issues! Luckily, I dodged that bullet.

I love green and did own Mildew. But it looked horrible on me LOL. And I did try to use in a lot of different ways. Ended up decluttering.
But it looks great on you! The entire look does

Thanks, Sabrina. Sorry Mildew didn’t work on ya… There are so many great greens out there, though! I’m betting you will find the perfect one soon!

Hi Karen, just discovered the UD Mildew pencil. Love your look with it, I’ve been using it with bareMinerals Blonzer Kiss of Pink on eyes and the combo is so pretty. Thanks for all your spot on reviews!
