So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Are you cooking or baking anything special for the holidays?
Every year I try to make a sweet treat for our friends and neighbors; this year I’m baking brownies from scratch. As for our Christmas meal, I still don’t have ours planned out yet, but if I can’t think of anything, we’ll probably do crab again.
2. Are you on Santa’s naughty or nice list?
I hope I’m on the nice list, LOL!
3. A holiday treat you enjoy?
Peppermint ice cream from Baskin Robbins, ideally in a sugar cone. Yummy!
4. What nicknames do you have for your pets?
Rosie has so many! She also goes by Posie, Pose, Rosie-Pose, Chonks, Chonk-a-donk and Mama.
5. Something makeup related that you’d like to buy for yourself?
I really need to update my lipstick collection. I’d especially love a fancy, go-to lipstick that’s moisturizing and pairs with most looks.
Happy Monday, beautiful girl. It’s a beautifully rainy day here in Marin county, and I just got back from an onboarding meeting for my new job. The countdown before my first day starts right meow, woo hoo!
Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner? I’m not quite panicking yet, but I do have a good amount of wrapping to get done before the week is over. I also have some last-minute gifts to take care of — stocking stuffers and whatnot.

I guess I am cooking a ham (which I don’t even eat) on Saturday for my husband’s aunt and brother who are coming from out of town. The girls love ham so I wanted the leftovers.

Hopefully nice! Can’t think of anything really naughty I’ve done…

I just picked up some dark chocolate covered marshmallows from Aldi and they are quite delicious.

Felix is Fifi or Feefs.

I really want those holiday MAC eyeshadows. I love their shimmery ones for and one swipe and done look.

I’m sure I’ll help my mom with Christmas dinner. I ran across a recipe for an eggnog bundt cake that seems really simple and I may give it a shot over the break.

Nice! Always (ok, usually).
3. A holiday treat you enjoy?
My mom and dad’s fruitcake cookies. It’s my grandmother’s recipe and it doesn’t taste like what most people think of when they hear fruitcake. They’re nicely spiced cookies with cherries. It’s a family tradition.
4. What nicknames do you have for your pets?
No current pets but I had a childhood cat that we called Bean for some reason. Her “real” name was Sasha.
5. Something makeup related that you’d like to buy for yourself?
I am on the hunt for the perfect olive green eyeliner.

It seems like forever since I answered one of your polls, so I feel like returning home.
1. Are you cooking or baking anything special for the holidays?
We’re deciding what to bake, I’m the one who is better at cakes and pies but my sister is unbeateble with cookies and we’re waiting for her gingerbread ones.

I’d like to say nice, but maybe Santa doesn’t agree with some of my methods.
3. A holiday treat you enjoy?
Mexican buñuelos, the ones that look like fried tortillas. You can find them specially these days and are delicious.
4. What nicknames do you have for your pets?
My dog Max is called Maximino or Chimino and Mochi (Zeus sucessor) is called Mochi momochi, Mochita and Mochila (backpack) just because my parents tought it was fun.
5. Something makeup related that you’d like to buy for yourself?
Right now, I think I’d buy more tinted lip balms or oils; I’ve embraced that lipstick is too high maintenance for me.
I’m so happy to hear you got a job with a lot of benefits; I totally get how you feel about them because I’ve been thinking about looking for another job and then after seeing the benefit reduction I prefer to stay in the same financial institution.

1. Are you cooking or baking anything special for the holidays? Every Christmas I make lefse – it’s a thin Swedish flatbread made out of hot cooked potatoes, riced, then mixed with flour, butter, and cream, then rolled very thin and baked on a large lefse griddle. It’s traditionally eaten warm with butter and sugar (though my husband loves it rolled up with deli ham and cheese). It’s VERY time consuming and SO good.

LOL Pamela re: food. I honestly might just make meatballs. Usually food is a big deal in Filipino families during the holidays, but I haven’t had any extra in me to deal with it.
1. Are you cooking or baking anything special for the holidays? I bought a frozen pecan pie, so I guess I’ll be baking that soon. If I get a lot of time and energy, I might make some cookies. I bought a spiral-slice ham, too. I’ll have to freeze most of it since I will be alone, so far as I know.
2. Are you on Santa’s naughty or nice list? I do try to be nice, but life events often almost force me to be unpleasant sometimes.
3. A holiday treat you enjoy? Hot chocolate, pecan pie, honey-baked ham. Any homemade cookies.
4. What nicknames do you have for your pets? I don’t have a pet, but my late Sheltie had a few – Teddy Bear was a favorite one.
5. Something makeup related that you’d like to buy for yourself? Not sure. Probably a set of skincare items from Paula’s Choice.

I can’t think of the brand name, but they do shortbread cookies and I used to see them at CVS around the holidays, but I haven’t seen them this year.

I have my eye on the Natasha Denona mini Xenon palette. I was thinking of getting the larger palette, but it looks like a lot of gray.
