5 Entertaining Shows to Marathon Next Time You Want or Need to Couch Potato

February 29th, 2024 by Karen 3 Comments

1. “Dance Life,” Amazon Prime

This reality show follows a group of talented young dancers who want to break into the competitive world of professional dance in Australia. I was impressed with their work ethic and the creative choreography!

The slow motion sequences are beautiful, by the way.

2. “Beecham House,” Amazon Prime

Do you love period piece dramas? Me too! Fire this up ASAP. Make sure you have on comfy pants and your favorite pillow and blanket nearby when you dive into this epic tale set in 1795 in Delhi.

3. “One Day,” Netflix

So, I enjoyed this TV series about an ill-fated pair of lovers, but daaaang it got slow in the middle. At that point I was so emotionally invested, though, and I couldn’t look away. If you want a condensed experience just watch the movie of the same name starring Anne Hathaway from 2011.

4. True Detective: Night Country, MAX

Scary! Don’t watch it when you’re alone at home at night. The leads, Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, have so much acting game, which is why I kept coming back for more.

5. “Belgravia,” Amazon Prime

One more for my period piece friends. This one has drama for your mama! There is an almost shocking amount of shady behavior from all angles, which you’ll either love or loathe. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

What’ve you been marathoning lately?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I am currently marathoning ‘Prison’ the Danish drama series – it’s SO gripping! The prison staff seem to have even more problems than the prisoners…

Plus ‘Our Flag Means Death’ the comedy series about gay pirates – it’s so sweet and cheers me up no end!

I just finished the 5th season of “The Crown.” Some of this was quite painfully slow. I’m wanting to see the newer season, in which Diana makes an appearance as a ghost, from what I’ve read. I’ve never had the sympathy for Diana most people do. Yes, I feel sorry for her lousy childhood due to broken home and boarding school at a really young age, but people who believe she really loved Charles when she agreed to marry him are being naive. She came from an aristocratic family of great wealth, and all the girls in her family were trying to find someone of real status to marry., since none of them would inherit the family estate. They were one-upping each other, or trying to. She knew if she married Charles, someday she’d have the title “Queen,” which is as high as you can go in the UK. They didn’t spend enough time together for “love” to have developed. They were 14 years apart in age and had no common interests. If she didn’t know that royals cheat on their wives, that’s on her, because it’s in the history books going back hundreds of years. For example, Henry VIII did have sons, but they were illegitimate, so they couldn’t inherit the throne. Diana had family members who were courtiers. She knew a lot more about royal stuff than she ever admitted, I am sure.

I enjoyed the Queen Charlotte spinoff, if only for the gorgeous sets and costuming. Fun to binge. And rewatching Brooklyn 99 whenever I need a good laugh.
