Benefit Cosmetics Holiday 2009: Affordable and Feminine Makeup and Fragrance Sets

October 5th, 2009 by Karen 35 Comments

benefit cosmetics holiday 2009

Let the holiday 2009 madness begin with Benefit’s limited-edition sets, available later this month.

My mind’s a blur right now (too much coffee and too little sleep), so forgive me as I bust out the bullets:

  • Each set is reasonably priced between $26-46.
  • The quilt and chain designs along with the red, purple and gold packaging totally remind me of a blinged-out Chanel purse.
  • Included in the kits are arguably some of the best stuff in Benefit’s permanent line (hello, Coralista).
  • Love the Crescent Row scents like I do? Expect new, limited-edition body lotions for each fragrance. I haven’t tried ’em yet, but I hope they’ll be moisturizing enough to handle my alligator legs.

Let me know if any of these move you. 🙂

Celebutante, $34

This nine-piece kit packs almost everything I need to go from tow’ up to glam in a matter of minutes. The travel-sized eye and blush brushes for on-the-go touchups are a nice bonus, too.

Bring out your inner Celebutante with …

  • High Beam: a shimmery pink highlighter for the face and body (check out swatches along with a how-to tutorial here)
  • Benetint: a liquid, rose-colored cheek and lip tint (see swatches here)
  • Dallas: a shimmery peach blush (read a full review and view swatches here)
  • Lip Gloss in I’m With the Band: a sheer, shimmery golden pink gloss (peep the full review and swatches here and here)
  • Full-Finish lipstick in Lady’s Choice: a warm, dusty rose pink (see here for swatches)
  • Velvet Eyeshadow in Leggy: a shimmery light pink (see swatches here)
  • Velvet Eyeshadow in Dandy Brandy: a shimmery golden brown (see swatches here)

Glitz Glam & Gloss, $26

Benefit Lip Gloss fans on a budget just might love this kit.

The Benefit babes loaded Glitz Glam & Gloss with three dual-headed glosses (six glosses total), each with a generous .10-oz of product (a full-sized Benefit Lip Gloss contains .17-oz of gloss).

Buying all six glosses separately (check out a review here) costs $108; grabbing ’em all at once saves a whopping $82. That’s a steal of a deal, yo!

Glitz Glam & Gloss includes …

  • Friends in High Places: a shimmery rose
  • Kiss You: a shimmery violet
  • Almost Famous: a shimmery bronze
  • Zone Out: a shimmery cool gold
  • I’m With the Band: a shimmery golden pink
  • Freshly Squeezed: a shimmery pinkish coral

Powderazzi, $30

benefit cosmetics holiday 2009 powderazzi

Two of my favorite blushes, Coralista and Dallas, come in this travel-friendly kit. There’s also a pan of Hula bronzer and a travel blush brush, to boot.

Powderazzi comes with …

  • Coralista: a shimmery pinkish coral powder blush (see swatches and review here)
  • Dallas: a shimmery peach blush (peep Dallas in action here)
  • Hoola: a bronzing powder

Crescent Row Holiday Sets in My Place or Yours Gina, Laugh With Me Lee Lee and Something About Sophia, $46 each

Remember Gina, Lee Lee and Sophia from Crescent Row?

Each of these sets includes a full-sized bottles of fragrance *and* a matching scented body lotion. Nice, yah?

I promise not to tell if you pick a few sets up for yourself while you’re holiday shopping. Pinky swear, even!

Karen

Celebutante and Powderazzi both look fantastic! I love Coralista too, and I don’t have Hoola or Dallas, so Powderazzi might find a home on my shelf this Christmas! 🙂

Congrats on being situated in your new digs! Hope you sleep well tonight!

I’m liking the Powderazzi kit. Bronzers tend to look a little weird on me (I’m really pale) but I love blush, and all of Benefit’s products are super cute!

That Powderazzi set is SUCH a good deal since the full-size ones are $28! Good lord, these beauty companies are going to bankrupt me with their holiday sets.

There are two lipsticks in Celebutante, right?

Man, these are going to be hella hard to resist. The powder set would be awesome for travel (those larger boxes don’t travel so hot and fitting both Dallas and Coralista is a struggle sometimes!) and Celebutante… what else would you need in your purse on a daily basis? Damn but I love Benefit!

I am so excited about the Celebutante set! I love Benefit but the items are a little out of my price range. This way, I can try all the things I’ve wanted to for a reasonable price. Super neat. 🙂

    Hey Karen,
You forgot to mention the second lipstick in the Celebutante kit: Full-finish lipstick in No Competition. I spied this set (and the other two) at my local Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique, and couldn’t decide at the time which to get. I may even ask for all three for xmas! 🙂

    Hi Karen,

I’m really excited with this collection and will buy something as my first Benefit purchase. I really like Celebutante and Powderrazzi just because they have the powder box, but my budget limited. I saw swatches online and it seems Dallas too much dark for me but I saw Coralista on you and it looked amazing (I have a similar skintone with you). Can you suggest which one I should choose? Help! (Sorry – English is not my mother tongue). Thanks!

      Hi Sandra,

I love both colors, so it’s hard to choose. It really depends on what you want. I think Coralista has a little more shimmer to it, so it gives more of a glowy look. Dallas would be better if you want a really natural cheek (it’s not as dark as it is in the pan).

If you’re afraid of too-dark cheeks, though, I’d err on the side of caution with Coralista. 🙂

      Hi Sandra,

You’re welcome! 🙂 You will love the lipsticks in that set — Lady’s Choice is most excellent if you like a natural, nude lip look.

I want Powderazzi. I’ve been itching to try Benefit’s blushes for a long time, but I could never decide which one to buy because they all look so pretty.
Glitz Glam & Gloss looks like something I’ll look into, as well.

I love sets! Mainly because I never finish my makeup fast enough before I have to throw it out and so I hate buying full size eye shadows. The celubutante looks awesome
